PS3 vs x360 (use this, not 360 slim)

People kill me. I won't comment on which is better, for the reason that I don't have a 360. I have a Wii, for my 6 year old nephew to play and a PS3. For some reason, he plays the PS3 more than the Wii..lol...

I bought my PS3 for $600 (original 60 Gig with full backward compatibility....That has been a money saver since we can buy PS2 games for my nephew at a steep discount). Personally, I bought the PS3 for the Blu Ray player. At the time, the 360 would have been close to the same price with an HD-DVD player, but I had a gut feeling that Blu-Ray would win (thank god it did, didn't look too good for a while there).

As far as games on PS3, I can say I am satisfied, but I game more on my PC than I do on my PS3, so I guess that isn't saying much.

Overall, what does it matter which is better? It is an individual choice. If you are not looking at multimedia capabilities, and strictly on gaming, then it really goes to :

1. Which console's IPs/exclusive games do you like better
2. Which console has better graphics (to you, in some cases, yes, it is proven, but in other cases it is a perception issue)
3. Which console has better DLC (For the games you enjoy)

There are many other factors as well, but most of them (including the above) are subjective. So just buy the system YOU like the best...

I'd rather see 3 threads stickied that are "What do you enjoy about Console X" (X being Wii, 360, PS3). This can be done without the arguing if moderated efficiently. Then people can see what other people enjoy about each console, and not have to worry about fanyboys clouding the issue. Look at the positives in the posts, check other websites for negatives, and make your purchase. I know that is not likely, but it would be nice...

Let me start by saying, I love Sony!
I loved the PS1 and the PS2 and HATED the original Xbox. When it came to next gen, I again, maybe not hated but, strongly disliked the Xbox 360. It didn't get off to a good start with it's RROD issues.

It was the only, ONLY console I didn't want! I wanted a PS3 sooo much that I bought two of them, admittedly one to sell on which didn't happen because, they weren't out of stock, like the Xbox and Wii. - I also got a Wii on launch and PS3 on launch, went to the 7am/midnight launch for both. During that time, I did have a 360 for about two weeks when an acquantane got one and I couldn't live with him having something I didnt. Needless to say, I thought it sucked! So, sold it.

Just before the Wii was released though, I caved in and bought another Xbox, for

It sure seems determined to be one, yes.

Guys, you're really trying my patience here. If the playground squabbling continues to drown out the reasoned discussion I'll have no option but to lock the thread down. Attack the message not the messenger, remember?

Squash the slug!!!!!!!!!!!!

mgillespie u take ur gaming a bit serious.

cross text chat is dumb. sorry, but to sit there and type messages via keyboard or controller is mindboggling. it just is.

and u missed the point of trophy vs achievements. achievements are quick and easy. thats it! u waiting for a trophy to load, no loooooooooong list to cruise through (although xbox achievements are long too, they feel hella shorter TO ME). and no tiered system of obtaining a trophy/achievement. an achievement is and achievement. who cares how hard it was. usually corresponds to how many gamer points u receive.

bleh

about psn+:
The 4 games you can download each month are yours to keep for as long as you are a member.

The games in full game trail will become available to all Store users to purchase but only Plus members will have the chance to ‘try before you buy’.
-so are u paying for trials?

and about the servers... sorry MY experience the other day playing MW2 with a friend SUCKED. constantly finding new servers. my friend said to me "welcome to ps3". my experience, not yours.

itsa console. i prefer the xbox.

and slug its not getting that bad... we're civil. when the phones go flying at one another, we'll message u ;)

I like both. I play more games on my xbox 360. I used my ps3 for a media server. I did sell my ps3 due to they was selling fast at the time when I needed money. I will buy another one soon. Feel Free to Add me on xbl DreamsThatDie

NOT bashing PS3 in this post, rather inquiring about Netflix.

is it true that you have to have a disc to use Netflix?

I personally like the PS3 better. Better games, although I wish we had forza 3. Same graphics. free online. blu-ray. etc.
However the thing I like about Xbox more is that more of my friends have it soo

Only until the Microsoft exclusivity deal runs out.

Netflix coming to the PS3 and Wii via "streaming disc"?

A proper app, like the PS3 Hulu is just around the corner, as soon as the Microsoft deal expires.

As for which console. Easilly the PS3. (I have both consoles, but the Xbox has been a major disappointment for the last 12 months, and nothing on their horizon that interests me either).
On PS3, the games are so much better (particularly the exclusives), the hardware is better and more reliable, it looks better, it runs quieter, and all my friends are on PS3, and they all don't need to sign up to some pay system to be part of it. You buy the console, that's it....

Hmm, I am using both consoles on gaming. Where I do competitions and as I'm on a break, it have been loads of matches for me on MW2 on both consoles. Seeing I'm in a active clan in both consoles.

This is what I think is personally why I actually buy most of my multiplayer games on my x360 rather then PS3.

Since we're playing loads of private games, where we need host. This is where PS3 comes out worse then x360, there is bit of lagg between players even when the host is from same country. Unless you live nearby, you will be on 3 strokes rather then four which would happened on x360 if it was private.

I think this is among the biggest weaknesses on PS3 at the moment, other then that it scores about same as PS3 in my eyes, though I personally play more x360 if I ain't doing competitions.

But PS3 is gonna have creds for something, the sensetivity in the joysticks is far more responsive and accurate. Where x360 controller have a split second before you get response. Though this is more about getting used to it then any other thing, since I prefer the xbox 360 controller when it comes to have it in my hand. While PS3 is better when it comes to aiming and the sensetivity in the joystick.

This is a bit delayed reply, been busy at my friends place over the couple of weeks.

I do see people mention games as factor to buy a console and I think that's true. As the marked is now, the consoles itself aint far behind in each other. I'd say they are on par with each other, but the consoles have different games tied to each other. Which makes you go either for PS3 or x360. (well, or do like me - buy both) :p

360 needs to pump out some games lol. I'm bored.

You need to play PS3 exclusives rather than compromised multiplatforms. All the PS3 exclusives have dedicated servers that are so much better than any crud you pay for on Xbox Live (which is a P2P network that slows to the slowest connected player). It's a shame that multiplatforms have to cater for the lowest common denominator (the Xbox), otherwise they too would be dedicated servers.

Any REAL gamer knows that dedicated servers are the only way to game.

Still going off w/ your continual trolling? Tsk tsk tsk. LOL!

Seems so. Although, even if what you're saying is right, doesnt that mean that, Sony suck? If they cant deal with multi platform? ;).

If you've got someone who's played MW2 on both and says it's better on 360 and your response is it's because the PS3 has to "lower" it self, better off getting exclusives that to me says, that Sony can't cope with it, make it as good, and therefore suck at gaming consoles unless they own the right to it and want to make it as good as it can be, so the company dont end up, a non sony exclusive company/game?

As you can see from my sig, I don't think Sony suck but, if thats the best reason you can come up with....

Gonna have to take mgillespie off block to see if he has a rational response other than ps3 pwns 360 cuz i say so. there was never a response to the game ratings i posted when he tried to say killzone made gears 2 look last gen, that mag was better than splinter cell conviction (not even the same game type) and that heavy rain was so much better than alan wake (same game ratings, eh?) but here is all i have to say on the subject of only real gamers play ps3...

pretty sure i'm just as real as a gamer as you are but since anyone that doesnt agree with you is automatically written off as a non-gamer the examples above show some real gamers that OMG>> they're using teh 36o, oh noezzz...

and Bexy, he'll tell you that you're wrong, that the 3rd party companies are intentionally trying to make the games not as good on the ps3 due to some MS conspiracy... lulz... ;)

i think however you made exactly the other point i was going to make. i think based on his own post he has proved the 360 superior, not only does it do the games it has exclusivity over great but it does the 3rd party games great too. :D
