Root Questions About Fastbooting Option On Evo

I was wondering if its necessary to have the fastboot option turned off at all time or is it ok to turn on once you have your phone setup the way you want it and don't need to access your recovery or boot menu?

Also whats the difference in the way fastboot boots your phone compared to a normal boot of your phone and are their any ill effects from booting with fastboot on?

fastboot is kind of like sleep mode for your computer. it really does not turn off your phone completely. and that is why it boots faster. i never have fastboot checked. it is not necessary to have it on. most roms will have that function off anyways.

and no there is no ill effects with fastboot. it is just not necessary to use it.

That is really good to know, I actually hate the sleep function as its still pulling juice and isnt doing anything.

yeah i do not know why htc added that feature to gingerbread. kind of a useless idea if you ask me.

Maybe it was a Sprint thing. They wanted the phone to be on all the time so it could be tracked. (Don't know if there is any truth to that but it sounds real good)

They added fast boot to cut down on how long it takes the phone to boot up.

Most people don't care if the phone is maintained in a low power sleep state but they DO care about how long they have to wait when they turn on their phone for it to be usable.

I personally don't use fast boot, but for people who aren't rooted there's really no need not to use it
