Root Questions About Link2SD--Optimus V

So as of right now, I've been unable to install Busybox, it just fails. Do I need that before I do anything with Link2SD? If not, can I just go ahead and move things like Dolphin Mini to my SD card? Also, do I need to do the partition stuff first? Link2SD says "second partition not found." I'm not understanding that part at all! Right now, my phone is hooked up to my computer, USB storage turned on, USB debugging checked, working with a 8GB sd card. I apologize if I missed threads on this. I'm feeling quite scattered right now, but that could be my medication! Thanks in advance for any help for a sista.

Alright, getting busybox up and running should be your first priority. What error does it report? As for partitioning your sd card, yes, you need that done before link2sd can work it's magic. The easiest way to do that is put the card directly in your computer (if you can) and use a utility like Easus Partition Master. I don't have the link handy, but Google is your friend.

Okay, Busybox asks me where I want to install it. The default is /system/xbin, so I went with that. Then it says /system/xbin is currently mounted as RW. On install, the message simply says "It looks like the installation of Busybox was not successful," and then "fail"! It then goes to a page where I can sign up for AppyMail. I tried installing versions 1.19.3 and 1.19.2. What's up with this? As far as the partition stuff, any major difference between the Easus and MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition? Thank you, brotherswing.

You caught me right before bed, so I'm not going to be able to help you with Busybox tonight, but have no fear. We'll get you squared away. As for the partitioning tools, either will work just fine.

Alright, give this a try. Pull the battery, and hold down the power button for thirty seconds. Then power back up and try again.

The Busybox installer gives you two locations it can be installed. If /system/bin doesn't work try /system/xbin

Yay, Busybox Installer installed! So now I move on to the partition stuff, right? Think I'm gonna need help with that as well. Do I install EaseUs onto my computer or my phone? What do I do after that? Thanks in advance, guys. With your help, I'm getting this stuff done little by little.

It installed to /system/bin. A minute ago, I accidentally opened Busybox instead of Busybox installer, and that says it's installed as well. Does it matter, or is it essentially the same thing? I'm pretty excited at the prospect of getting rid of bloatware and improving battery life! Am I becoming more of a geek than I already am?

Location doesn't really matter. It's always better to be able to install it in the same folder as su.
You'll do alright. Kind of remind me of myself back in July-August.

Thanks for the tutorial link. I'll check it out tonight. As it's getting late here, if I have questions or issues, I'll be back tomorrow. I do indeed have a PC, so I'll work from here. Thanks again, guys.
:)

If I can't sleep, I may be back tonight just to post questions!

Hey singbluesilver. One Question. This will help me and brotherswing on a theory I've been developing.
Could you look in /system / bin and let us know what the permissions are set to on su.

Thanks
