Yeah, it's easy to see how this would be a deal breaker for many peeps. Thing that gives me a little comfort is the early leaks that showed the sprint version that had the sprint zone app posted on the screen of the note 2.

I think the sprint version that was shown at that convention, the us cellular version, and the verizon version were the only ones leaked to be the same as the international version. The tmobile and att versions hadn't been leaked, had it... with exception to the fcc leaks? Maybe those carriers would b the variants? we should know more by the 24th.

The 24th seems a long time from now... LOL

lol...Sorry, I had to guys:

"By mid-November"...hahaha

Honestly I'm just looking forward to having a new device to mess around with. This iPhone 4 I have is just so damn boring now and being strapped to Apple's madness (iTunes and them continually patching jailbreaks) is killing me. I found someone locally to buy my iPhone for $280, but I doubt they will pay that in a month or two when I get a new device. Oh well...I'll ebay it and take what I get for it when the time comes if need be.

One word of warning about ebay. LOTS of scammers for iPhones. I happened to run into one of them that "claimed" that the phone wasn't working when they received it, but when they supposedly sent it back, all I got back was a logitech mouse. Luckily, ebay settled the case in my favor and I got my money, but it still makes me hesitant to sell a big device on ebay again.

OUCH!!! The last time I read anything about this you were waiting to get it back. Didn't know they sent you a mouse. I would've been livid. Glad to hear it worked out in your favor.

Apple patching jailbrakes has always been a non-issue to me.
I could see this being a problem for tethered jailbrakes but once an untethered brake is achieved I never updated again until next new phone.

Bad karma for the fraudulent buyer. I just wanted to be sure I'd have my note 2 money + whatever money extra I put toward whichever tablet i decided on.

I wait as well, but I'm someone that likes to update to the newest version out. With iOS you can't unless you're willing to give up the jailbreak. It seems with Android this is nothing to worry about, but Android updates seem less frequent compared to iOS.

Link? I would love to see that because I plan on using this feature for note taking throughout the day at work. VERY HOPEFUL I can write small and it will be roomy enough.

My uploads keep on failing. I'll post it up as soon as I get a chance today.

With cursive, printed or combination? I'm hoping that it's really accurate as my writing can sometimes be hard to distinguish unless you look carefully...link to video please

My chicken scratch writing!...LOL...it's a combination of printing/cursive. I have awful looking handwriting, when I'm rushing (which is majority of the time, on my job), so any electronic device that can recognize my writing will probably be magnificent with people that can write quickly and legibly.

Once I upload, you will have to excuse the quality, as it seems like either I have to clean my Photon lens or I just can't do one handed video recording, while still being able to keep the video steady and autofocus.

I also liked having the newest updates but I soon realized that my jailbroken iPhone provided me more benefits than the newest update.
Android updates have to be less frequent considering how many versions (GB, ICS, JB) of Android are out there at one given time as opposed to only one (1) iOS.

Okay, so I transferred all my camera files over to my pc and uploaded the video. Seriously, seeing it on a bigger screen...it's really an awful video. I couldn't get the Photon to auto focus at all on the tablet screen, but...it serves its purpose of showing that the recognition is pretty darn accurate, especially when someone like me is writing where I have really awful penmanship when not concentrating:

You're right...it was pretty bad :D but the effort is appreciated! Auto focused seemed non existant.
Knowing you, you'll probably re-do the vid and re-up load it when it's perfect.

You're so right, SandaLeX. The perfectionist in me, just wants to get it right. I probably will try again later on.

Yeah, I don't know what is going on with the auto-focus on my Photon (for videos). It used to be awesome.

OMG...this is almost as painful as watching a beautiful luxury car get smashed in a movie:

Although, I must say that it did hold up better than I thought. Thing is, it's still not "that" realistic because it's not taking into consideration motion. They should've done it where he's walking and while taking it out of his pocket, it gets caught on clothes and slips out of the hand, propelling it forward. It's rare where the phone is going to be dropped at a stand still. Most drops happen when people are walking and trying to do something on their phone at the same time, which adds more acceleration/force to the impact.

On a side note, and a great thing is, he's my size, and from seeing him hold the phone, that gives me the comfort of knowing I'll be able to work with the size no problem.

The Note 10.1 is absolutely amazing with handwriting for me. It can read cursive, a mix, or just regular writing. I used it to take notes today in classes, and the auto-shape thing is pretty sweet as well. You can draw perfect graphs among others. Simply amazing. If the Note 2 is anything close to the 10.1, I will be extremely satisfied.

Besides that. In the iPhony ve S3 drop test, you can clearly see that the iphone is dropped by releasing of the hand while the S3 was not and thrown a tiny bit. Whether that made a difference or whether the Note is actually better impact resistance wise who knows.
