What I definitely can say will be a "1st" for me, and a welcome one at that, is assuming I do go with the Note 2, Samsung's strategy of keeping phone models the same across all carriers will open up Android supporters to sharing their experiences across the different providers! That'll be great to see and part of the reason the Note 2 is slightly ahead of the Optimus G, as an upgrade choice for me. That said, if LG takes the same approach with the Optimus G (e.g. Eclipse), then it'll pull back into an even race and test evaluation once the phones are out and available for comparison in person.

Yea I left my photon behind and am using an old iphone 4 (long story) I got out of phones for a few months because i was spending too much on them buying retail. I never wait for upgrades but this time I have one and have decided on the note as my upgrade and want to try to keep it as long as possible lol.

With Sprint getting rid of the 1 year upgrade (gold premiere) program and falling in line with how ATT and Verizon are, I'm really curious to see if that has any effect on the OEM's timeframe for releasing "new" product. Do they continue at the 1 year pace that they've been going or do they dial it back a little and put more time and effort into making sure that the "next" generation of the phone will be that much better?

Well if the Galaxy S3 is any indication, it was wi-fi certified on or around Jan 31, 2012 and FCC'ed on or around June 2, 2012
Thats almost 6 months apart. yikes.

Although the Ti-Mobile version of the S3 appeared on May 19th and
the AT&T version appeared on May 26th

So it would seem that wi-fi certification comes first, but when it would appear on the FCC thereafter and then actually for sale is anyone's guess.

Let's just hope not and that it comes sooner than 6 months

Can anyone confirm if the camera is on par with the S3 one?

I'd go ahead and assume that. He said on the last page that it has all of the GS3 features plus more, so I'm expecting the same if not better. I'm eager to try out native HDR functionality.

the article says the refreshed GN2 might come out with the flexible displays. does that mean a later re-release of the Note 2? or the one being released late this year?

I saw that news too. But I'm ok with 8MP camera. 13MP won't necessarily produce better images than 8MP if lens/sensor quality, image processing engine to control light noise don't match up to higher pixel density. It will give larger resolution file for bigger printing. but very few people print pictures from phones at 100% resolution because image quality on small details will look very poor. Small P&S cams are having the same issue due to this marketing push for higher mega pixels.

considering that lately my dreams have been filled with the GN 2 (seriously), i'm definitely getting this device :D a higher-mp camera isn't necessarily better if the user isn't a good photographer :D
