Sometimes I worry about how much Google knows about us

A bot and a captcha going back and forth to try and determine if I'm human. It reminds me of two kids arguing with an incessant ...

"yes you are!"
"no I'm not!"
"yes you are!"
"no I'm not!"
"yes you are!"
"no I'm not!"
"yes you are!"
"no I'm not!"
"yes you are!"
"no I'm not!"

At what point do we, as a society, say "both of you, go to your rooms"?

Right after the first set. You ain't gonna get anywhere by going on

Has anyone else noticed this workplace phenomenon - If you moan and complain, and generally appear to be unhappy, you're rewarded. Whereas if you're happy in your job and just get on with it in a professional manner, doing good work, you get nothing.
Kind of annoys me a bit that treats are handed out to keep the whingers happy.

At my age, if the wheel squeaks too much, I just replace it. I don't have time to deal with high maintenance things. :)

That would be my attitude too if I was in charge. Some people just aren't worth it, and nobody is indispensable. The garbage that has been put up with in some cases is unbelievable. I don't care how good someone is at their job, if their attitude stinks and they're a disruptive team element, I wouldn't put up with that.

Policies and procedures have been in rewrite for four or five years... My lead made an error in judgement last week which would have gotten him canned by other managers. Waiting to see what the fall-out is with our current one. I suspect that little or nothing will be done.

I like watching people work. Well in this case I say 'work' in the loosest possible sense :)
How many people does it take to remove a reinforced concrete security bollard?
Answer, 3: One to operate the angle grinder, one to attack it with a lump hammer, and the other just to smoke and supervise.
