The more I work on this laptop, the crazier it gets...

I am dropping an SSD into it, and I was going to put a HDD for data storage in the optical slot, but the one I have been using is just crap-- it corrupted and I lost all the data I put onto it, and trying to move even medium-sized files took for-freaking-ever. Not sure if it's the (admittedly old) drive (SMART says it's good) or an issue with the SATA interface.

Is the HDD 5400rpm? If so, then that could explain it being so slow. Luckily SSDs have gotten pretty affordable these days and you can probably have both your primary and secondary drives be SSDs for a reasonable price.

The most affordable SSDs I can think of that are very reliable are the Crucial MX500.

It was a 5400rpm drive. I'm thinking it's just the drive; I'm experimenting with another drive to see if the same kind of problem recurs.

Makes me chuckle when I see statements from project managers like this "Delivered industry leading project with over £800m of benefits".
No my friend, you did not deliver that project. You cracked the whip and moaned about projected deadlines not being met, while a team of hard working software developers created and delivered that software.

Updating firmware in headphones. Oh how I yearn for a simpler life. I'll probably be asked if I can help update firmware in a urinal next?

in Japan the possiblity is high. Last time I was there the hotel had those toto devices with the built in bede (spelling) arm and the heated seat and the like. It was just strange. Granted not the strangest thing I saw in japan - but strange. I totally see china having similar. - just because

Well, the second (or is that third) hard drive seems to be behaving well... just retaught myself how to convert Audible books into something my car can understand so I have something to listen to after this current audiobook is done.

Now I will have to write down the instructions so I don't forget again, hah.

Images where all of the trophies can't fit on the screen at once will have to be enough to carry me through this latest title drought. #twomonthswithoutaparade :(
