Apparently, it's because the lenses in your eyes never stop growing and as they get bigger, they get harder for the eye muscles to distort in order to change focus.
And it's a b****![]()
Yes getting old is ruff! What I found through research is that as you get older, the thickness of the lens shrinks. I finally had the corrective lens restriction removed from my license last year. Ever since being 12 years old I required correction for nearsightedness. Now I have a half frame pair of bifocals. The top part is for viewing the computer monitor. The bottom is for reading. They work quite well. No more headaches due to eyestrain after a few hours staring at the monitor. With the half frame I just look over the top for looking around (distance vision).
only it expires 2015 and I will have to go in and do the whole test thingy...I was freaking put cuz I too am getting slightly older and was thinking id fail the eye exam...My mom told me that you are totally allowed to wear drug store cheaters~!!! I thought you had to be all official and have prescription glasses etc...but I guess not!
