Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

My bamboo is pretty old, the table doesn't really do anything without a mouse or pen.... I may have to look at best buy to see if they have anything....

Also zuben, you are right. That's pretty lousy of them.

This does:

'Pinktober' ignores breast cancer patients who can't be cured, some say - TODAY Health

A cure would be great, but those who can't be cured still have the same disease. How about splitting some money off for these people - counseling, sympathy, anything to ease the pain.

Goes for any disease.

Being a supporter and husband of a survivor I can in some way see their point of view but much of the funds collected go for research which benefits everybody suffering from the disease.

Just stop and imagine where breast cancer research would be without the added funds that Breast Cancer Awareness Month generates, it is a pretty bleak scenario.

Personally I think the funds should go 100% towards research, the pharmaceutical companies have plenty of programs to aid or completely pay for chemo drugs and there are many discount programs for radiation treatment. If the money goes to research then there is a better chance of a cure being found, if it will be allowed which is a discussion for another time which also really grinds my gears!

Having dealt with brain cancer issuses since 2005 (before that I as a respiratory therapis i donated to the american lung association and didn't pay attention to details) i have learned quite a few things about donating to cancer research charities. first your best bet is to donate directly to a hospital, like a teaching hospital or perhaps a cancer center where you or your loved one receives chemo. for instance, back in 2005 i had just back to texas from arizona in the last part of 2004 and started having seizures and so i never started working again. i had surgery in jan of 2005 and received my chemo at joe arrington cancer research in lubbock, tx. the social worker there contacted the manufactures of the 3 kinds of chemo i took (which i'm taking again...blegh) and they provided that to me at no charge. people donate money to joe arrington's and out of that money they paid for anti nausea meds the entire 9 months. so besides money spent on actual research, they also help patients who need it. i'm not a bum, i had been a respiratory therapist from age 21-36 and raised my daughters doing that so i was very thankful there was help for me when i needed it.

when choosing a cancer charity to donate to you need to look at their irs 990 forms the previous years which you can do with a simple google search. they have to provide this form free of charge and it's important to know if the money that is donated is going to actual research, patient care or administrative salaries. for instance when you donate directly to a hospital you can say where you want that money to be used. you can't normally do that when given to an oraganization. that's something to keep in mind.

I can't stand how difficult it is becoming to get a quality-made-in-America product. Leatherman, and BOB strollers are the only two I have been able to get my hands on lately. Even my Carhartts are hecho in Indonesia or something.

Fwiw... Carhartt is bringing back a line of made in the USA clothing. Being a proud union member, this makes me happy.

People who show up to the gym funky.... please bathe, you stink!

Oh and people who show up wear inappropriate clothing. If your 60 I should see no cracks... none!

That's all for today ....

People that run on the treadmill to warm up at the gym & then go from machine to machine to machine & never wipe off their sweat they leave behind on those machines. :pound::puke:

You can't find the actual start times for the NLCS. Everyone includes the pregame bull in the start time. If the NFL can separate the pregame and game, so can MLB.

Game 3 NLCS. One TV service says 1:30P mountain time.
Another TV service says 2:00P mountain time
Saint Louis Cardinal website says 1st pitch at 3.07. 2:07mt
San Fransisco has nothing posted re 1st pitch.

I allowed ten minutes for BS and wound up in the top of the first for the second game. Allow 10 minutes at other times, and you are still tuned into the pregame show.

Drives me nuts when for no single reason, month after month, time after time, you just can't make the most simple things work out the way they are supposed to. It's like the world just doesn't want you to have this one thing work out, no matter how small or unneccessary it is anyway. It would be horrible if it were an important thing, but it is just maddening because it isn't.

Low Disk Space notification glitches...no, my phone is NOT low on disk space! still got over 50MB remaining in the internal!!! seriously someone has to find some way to bypass that stupid alert.

My steps son's father. Hasn't paid child support in 10 years. Decides at the last minute that he can't take his son to practice so I have to drive for two hours to pick my stepson up and bring him. No pre planning, just ten minutes notice. Shutting up now because if I type any more you will see nothing but **************.

So.... I completely know how you feel. Just understand that,, in 15 years. The pain and sweat you invest in this baby. Will be completely repaid in a beautiful way!

those camping little trolls in Call of Duty: Black Ops. i tend to hunt all of those little idiots down and exterminate them, sometimes to the tone of overjoyed mic responses from other players...i often knife everyone of them in the back--pure justice!

Preparing for vacation and the realization that I am delagating my one job to 5.2 people....Huh? Pretty sure I need a raise at this point!

Trying to explain to the Vulcan that food particles on clean hands are the same as dirt when he leaves sticky bits all over the fridge doors, cabinet doors, etc.

My daughters are grown and gone and my ex still has to pay because he's 38,763 behind. He gripes because he thinks I should give the money to the girls. He doesn't get that he's paying me back for being the only one to ever carry any type of insurance on them, pay for college and all the times he never paid squat. He thinks if I give them the money they will talk to him. Um no, they don't talk to him because he was never there for them and they grew up and realized what a dead beat he is.

To me. Child support is about time. Time I would be able to spend with the children if I had it. It's about me not having to work 2 or 3 shifts to make things work. Since you can never get that time back. To me.(I know this won't be for everyone) letting the child support go, was the best thing that ever happened. God knows, the children know, you know...Your a deadbeat. Life is to short for anger. (I would like to have that 6 figures for the record) but I believe I have been blessed and rewarded a thousand times over since I no longer carry the frustration of his misbehaving.

One of the best, smartest and most wonderful things I have ever heard. Sad but true...
My rant for today goes the other way... My ex and her mother seem to think that punishing me for HER choice to leave me, is the best thing for our daughter. Why not get every penny and lie to get it?.. . Push the boundaries to the point that I have to call the Sheriff to enforce visitation, and spend a fortune on an excellent attorney... And then tell our 6yr old that daddy does not love her enough to give them money? Really? I have to just keep telling myself and my daughter that someday she will be old enough to make her own mind up about what will happen... And trust that what I show and teach her will help her become a wonderful person... Someday.
