Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

My opinion (not that it was asked for, but....) on the "LOL" debate.... Both my daughters will speak to me, either in person, on phone (I know, hard to believe...) or on Skype. Both will reply to something funny with the vocal reply "lols"....(pronounced just like it is spelled...)

If I see that you giggled/chuckled/laughed/snorted or even smiled, you DO NOT NEED TO TELL ME "LOLS"!!! I already know!

If you are telling me a story that you found funny, tell me "it made me laugh", not "it made me 'lol'"....". Both have one syllable. One is proper. The other makes you sound foolish, especially to a non-native English speaker, or someone who is not "up" on the text "lingo".

My parents dog got a hold of my sunglasses and now to fix them I will be spending $100. Because they have not disciplined her at all... they just say bad dog when she gets a hold of things she's not supposed to have. No one knows how many hazardous things she has eaten because of it. She evidently doesn't know what bad dog means, I think its because my dad got lazy when he got this dog, his last dog knew rights and wrongs after two months.. And then he gets mad at me for having expensive sunglasses in the first place, because thats the problem... me being able to afford nice things, yea thats the problem not the fact that you can't properly train your dog to not take things its not supposed to have.

If you have to purchase things in even-numbered quantities, then you may be OCD...

No....

I don't do that..... :-P

I'm more a hater of dust and scratches and creases... But only on certain things....

And I'm especially annoyed by the scratches on the 8 key nd wrist rest on my new keyboard :'( they weren't even my doing.

funny...
I do stuff on purpose that is the opposite of "perfectly" even etc.....

like I will set my alarm for 6:47 instead of 6:45..

I get uneasy when every thing is planned out organized and compartmentalized .hmmm

I always catch complaints since I won't do stuff the way most people do. I've mostly got away with it. (Office was in a house - if it was slow, I'd take the phone and go out and weed the flower beds, etc)

I've had some here since I want to know everything about a device or service before I buy it. I believe in research, not marketing BS. You tell me a product is great, so what? I'll go read all the reviews I can find and make up my own mind.

Route, route, route.... That seems to be the topic of the millennium around here. We even have "All Things Route" in almost every phone and tablet forum. Listen up people; If you want to get somewhere just ask someone for directions when your travelling for goodness sake, or use the GPS on your phone or tablet. Honestly how anyone can expect thousands of members to have any idea where you want to go is beyond me. So enough of this routing talk.

In some areas of the country, route rhymes with out, not boot.

LOL...sometimes..I hear it pronounced as though it rhymes with foot!!!
for me it's like nails on a chalk board .....eeeeeekkkkkkkkkk..seriously want to hurt whomever says it!

up side is..I suppose it's so irritating that it could work in any circumstance one annoying pronunciation to ..cover all the bases so to speak..

pronounced like "foot"

which "root" do I take to get there?
how do I "root" this phone
Don't think it is natural she has dark "roots"
my internet is down better check the "root" er

In Scotland we say it like "rooter" think about it, how do u say "route 66"?
The router routs the signal to something else the same as a road leads to something else....

The way north americans pronounce "alluminium" doesnt annoy me or anything but it is pretty stupid lol :P
Theres TWO "i"s in it :)

um, you know, like, sort of kind of, maybe, well.... no, I don't know and it's not sort of anything and if it's kind of everything and um, well, do you even know what you want to say?! Sorry, I transcribe for a living and this particular file is driving me insane!

Please. When you put the R back in Worcestershire, then MAYBE we'll negotiate with you about your silly pronunciation of aluminum. :D
