Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Not knowing enough Kung Fu really grinds my gears! :(

When will I master the legendary "Chuck Norris Round house kick of 500% doom" and become the chosen one?

When?

:'-(

I have a t-shirt that say's
I may not know Kung Fu..

Wanna be stinky Scientist says:

But due to the angry time space continuum in the black pie hole times the vortex of the fat pig... due to my flawless logic... I heard that stupidity is the fastest (growing) thing known to man... and yes... this includes light...

They stupidity is the fastest thing known to man!

I also heard that light (dem darn brain stuffs) is dying in this world... and idiocracy is taking over! :)

Like those people that want to immigrate to Japan believing that people will be running around throwing "Kamehamehas" with flying Sumarai warriors on wild bears with their swords the size of sky scrapers all with purple hair and big anime eyes...

I hear a lot of those people hit reality when they eventually land there and go back like the very next month when they realise there are zero Kamehamehas...

Ain't no Kamehamehas and "Big Bang Attacks" in Japan that is for sure... :)

But make sure you can remember how to use a fax machine... because if you don't remember you are a goner in the land of the rising sun! :)

Damn it........

Heh! :D

xD

When I laugh a lot like this I struggle to breathe! :)

I have had bad asthma in my younger years and if I luaggh a lot like this I need my pump! :D
hehehehe! :D

Wow I had to be rushed to hospital one night because I was struggling to breathe (I had been sick for a few days) but then my friend shoe laces were untied and he thought he was "fly" and tripped and lost his coke can! :D

We both couldn't stop laughing but then because of the laughing I had to be rushed to hospital! :D

Yay!

Wow I thought I was gonna die that night!

:D

Mate ive only thought i was gona die from asthma once a few years ago, i took a reaction to some girls dog that she let sleep in her bed. My lungs were nearly fully closed man. Only way i can describe it is i could only breathe in a few millilitres of air at a time and was ready to pass out when i heard the ambulance siren. I didnt even care that i was wearing a girls pink bathrobe when they arrived lol :)
it wouldnt be a nice way to go mate eh.
And i stupidly smoke :banghead::banghead::screwy:

Wow I thought I was the only one!! :)

Yes!

That is EXACTLY what I had!

Exaclty the same!

You can only get like tiny tiny tiny little bit of air in!

It is actually quite scary thinking "Oh my God.. I can't breathe! I am going to die!"

They got that oxygen mask on me ASAP.

PHEW now that was really nice after I got that! :)

Yeah!

Asthma grinds my gears! :(

Why can't I not need that pump every now and then??? :(

Ugh,

Well I guess it is better than no legs!

NOW THAT has got to suck like nothing else! :(

Wow that has got to suck BAD. :-(

I am very lucky!!

I carry my inhaler/pump everywhere like i do with my phone (phone in left pocket, pump and keys in right) but yeah its scary when you cant breathe in enough to get the pump in.
The ambulance crew had an oxygen tank attatched to a... is it a "nebuliser"? it makes like a vapour.. oh man that was the sweetest taste ever. when the airways begin to relax :)

The thing about asthma that makes me think a lot is, in the wild, before we had became technological, me n you would be dead. So i suppose its something to celebrate but at the same time, this is a genetic disorder thats becoming more and more common. In the wild, a lot of asthmatics wouldnt make it to breeding age plus we would be out-competed so in the wild, there would be far less asthmatics, species would be stronger.
Just one of the problems with being a logical, scientific thinker lol :D

I used to think that when i was younger and much more into music but now id much rather lose hearing than sight

Rather hearing than sight. I am a nature watcher and not being able to see a flower or watch a thunderstorm would bother me.

With extra precautions and vigilance, you can still drive.

Well I am just REALLY glad my Asthma is NO WHERE NEAR as badd as it used to be!

OH MY GOD IT USED TO BE BAD.

I still have a pump but wow it used to really suck!

:-(

If I even luaghed too much without concentrating I would then start to scramble for my pump because I was starting to suffocate!

Yes... I agree... it was VERY scary that.

It is SO much better today! :)

It is scared of me now!!! :D:D:D

Hehehehee!! :D

Ja sure... if I laugh a lot and run around a lot then it ever so slightly comes back but it is very mild compared to how terrible it used to be! :)

Thank GOD for that! :D

It is scared and running now! ;)

And if I could choose between hearing and sight... I would say that I am just extremely glad I have both! :)

I am extremely grateful!

Must be downright awful to be blind... :(

But interestingly enough... I wonder what a blind person (from birth) "sees" in his or her mind?

I am wondering interesting things like that! :)

I wonder...

If they go blind after birth (like I did) you still see colors and normal objects in your mind, if you were born blind then you'll see splashes of color everywhere like Fantasia or something :p

When a cashier doesn't ask for my ID when I'm paying with a credit or debit card.

It is illegal to NOT check a person's identification when they are using a card to pay (at least in North Carolina, as a competent cashier informed me a while back). And ask me how many people have actually asked for my ID since I've been an adult using a debit/credit card... waaaaaaaaay too few. People should not be compelled to write CHECK ID on the backs of their cards because businesses are too lazy to enforce it. It's not as if your signature is going to help protect against card theft... the companies NEVER look at those signatures. Never ever. They are useless.

This will be a pain in my butt, but for the sake of all the credit/debit card users out there I'm going to start saying something each and every time a cashier fails to check my ID.

I blame management and customers for this as much as I blame individual cashiers, since customers are often quite nasty about being asked for ID (either offended or in a hurry :stupid:) and management should be mandating that cashiers card and penalizing them when they don't... don't tell me they can't routinely monitor their security cameras to check to see if ID is being asked for... they sure do monitor all the other activity in the stores all the time (as in, watching for shoplifting). If my credit card or debit information is EVER stolen when used in a store I will call that company and tell them I am going to pursue legal action because they didn't card the person attempting to use my debit or credit card.

And folks, you are much better off using your credit card than debit card. This comes from a banking professional.
1) when you're using a debit card you are using money that is pulled directly from your bank account and it is MUCH less easy to recover.
2) when you use a credit card you are initially using that company's money and this money is much easier to recover.

***UPDATE:

Well, turns out I was misinformed about the NC law about checking ID... sorry, guys... I should have done some digging before I posted. :(

Sigh. Not only have I been unable to pin down any sort of concrete information about individual states' card/ID check policies, but it looks like that it is in fact legal to REFUSE TO SHOW ID when using a credit card in all states.

Yep, that's how it's set up, at least here in the States. So, with few exceptions, there are NO checks and balances in place to ensure that some fool hasn't stolen your card and is using it all over the place. Businesses are supposed to compare your signature on the back of the card to the signature on the copy you sign for them. And that has NEVER happened to me. Not once.

All they need to do to easily improve credit card security is to require CC users to use a PIN number. No big deal (at least not to me!).

According to a law firm website:
"Further, if you refuse to present identification, such as a driver's license, the merchant may not refuse to make a credit card sale under Visa, MasterCard, and Amex rules." Burlington, NC Accounting Firm | Merchant Credit Card Abuses: What They Cannot Ask You To Do Page | STOUT STUART MCGOWEN & KING LLP

Looks like the loop hole to this is writing "CHECK ID" under your signature on the back of the card... that is the only time (from what I can tell so far) that a cashier is required to ask for your ID. Not that most of them ever will. So there goes that safeguard.

Apparently you do not have to provide ID for a credit card transaction because some people don't want to present identification like a driver's license that has personal info on it. I can understand that, but there needs to be some sort of decent security measure in place. Like a freakin' pin number.

Here we have "chip and pin" so the card has a chip like a sim chip as well as the magnetic strip and you have to enter your pin into a hand held machine in the shop. No signiature or anything. Is it the same there man?

Whoaoaa my friendly dudettte... take it slow! ;)

You need to... chill! :cool::cool::cool:

There is no need to worry about credit cards and all these... "things"...

You see... when I want to buy something and there is an... "issue" at the check out when I want to buy that Ferrari I wanted 5 minutes ago... then all I do is just use my other 489 credit cards to buy it! ;)

So sit back... relax... and chill!

Don't panic... don't phone stanic! ;)

Because everyone is doing it...
