Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Okay at work. (Some may already know I work at McDonalds, because I come here to rant about my day) today, was all going good, took some orders nice people, cleaned the place a little, and this one guy comes in and ruins my day. I went to take his order, and he said " I want a dollar sand which, and a dollar fry." Now there are like 5 different sandwhices for a dollar, so I ask him what one he wanted. He goes off ranting, and yelling that it doesn't matter.

Why...

I don't like him.

My daughter used to work there not too long ago..oh the stories you two could tell each other ;)

That would be my cue to give them a "special" sandwich :D
now now funky :(
:puke:

Towns ranting and raving about losing sales tax to online merchants.

Carry the damn product I want and I will buy locally.

This is more about flavors of products. The stores carry the brand but not the flavor I want. Vitamins and everything else are going to gummi bear chews. No wonder we have an obesity epidemic.

I used to take my dog with me everywhere I went, didn't need anyone else to look after her, if I went into a store (or any other building she wasn't allowed into) she'd sit patiently outside waiting for me to come out again. People who want to take their pets everywhere should train them to behave...

And there's the difference - behavior training. I really do love dogs and will stop to talk to almost anyone who has one. :)

Today I got to experience the type of person who really doesn't have any common courtesy. I was at a small car show and had a great seat to view the burnout contest they were having. I had even gotten there early to make sure I could see. Two people walked up and stood in front of me without even thinking about the fact that they were blocking people. I asked them to move and they pretended to not hear me but when the very large, tattooed gentleman next to me asked them they looked a little nervous and decided to move. So I guess I got to see both ends of the spectrum today and it turned out well!

Seriously, I can often get things cheaper online, but then shipping them to me will drag the overall price up to nearly that for buying locally... even so, it is often worth the extra 1% to be able to get it and have it in my grubbies now rather than wait on delivery.

But if I can't find the product locally... well.

I understand that there just isn't enough market for certain things; certainly, there aren't enough readers in the small town where I live to support a book store. Hell, there aren't even enough cyclers here to support a bike shop... but even in the nearest big town (500K+ people) you'd think there would enough of a market to support more than just the one chain bookstore.

As it stands, if I can't order it through the local library, then I have to go to the thrift shops or wait until I am at the coast to find a used book store to find reading materiel.

Or get digital copies. :afraid:

Which can really suck when the digital versions of a book are often priced based on the hardcover versions, and the publishers rarely proof the digital versions like they do the print.

What grinds my gears?

When they move the root section links waaaaaay to the bottom of the page so I have unread stuff at the top and it's more work to get to the root section. :D

If you don't care for Amazon (I've gotten great prices on used books from them), have you tried Powell's?

Second your gripes about e-book pricing.

Apple is getting sued for its part in keeping ebook prices high. Some publishers have dropped prices.

Try the free stuff. Ever checked on Creative Commons? A lot of authors will trial a book there before publishing, and some like Cory Doctorow (Sci-fi) use CC exclusively.

Nice, thats great. That is like the third time that Apple is sued for price fixing eBooks, when will they learn?

I know that feeling, huh. Insomnia is a way of life for me.

I'm feeling a bit gear-ground by discovering that Latitude is going away as of August 9. Apparently, some got the news by e-mail on July 10. I did not. I only found out because my husband mentioned it when checking his own Gmail (which is rare for him to do). We both find Backitude handy at times, and will be losing that function unless we can find a way to get G+ Location to do that or the developer figures out making the app work with the new setup.

Reactions: huh
and.....why am I still awake?

Sigh... :(... me too... :(

I once took 4 big sleeping tablets... NOT any ordinary sleeping tablets... addictive ones...

I over dosed on them because I was desperate and losing it when I was ******* out with serious stress and mental issues and hadn't slept since the dinosaurs...

I was told to only take ONE at night... I was told they are also extremely addictive... and must take with extreme caution...

I was told they can be pretty addictive but I was desperate by the shrink and did not listen to the shrink...

I did not feel a thing... this was back when I was ******* crazy.

Not even 4 of those tablets could make me sleep.... I was wide awake and did not feel any sleepy or anything different... and still mad...

My sleep was so bad for such a long time I did not grow at all for quite a few years... scary I know.

Only years later when i started to come out of it did I start to sleep a little bit better until I could finally start sleeping again.

I started to get taller or started growing again... I remember quivering in class I was so stuffed up because I just could not sleep.

Scary shit those days.

Don't want to remember that crazy insanity ever again.

Never again.

I took an overdose about 5years ago mate but on purpose. Didnt expect to wake up. To anyone considering suicide, dont, trust me and put it off for a few years. If youre suicidal then you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Heaven is a fairy tale so you might as well give life another try.
Lol sorry for the heaviness peeps :D

Oh, darn. The Vulcan has decided he needs to learn how to work a smart phone!
I can let him use the Nexus S as wifi only. Just tell him not to update anything.

I'm like that sometimes for no reason. Bi-polar I believe.
