Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

We lost mobile and data in mid-November - from none other than Boost Mobile - for nearly ELEVEN days. We got a $30 credit toward our next bill, but we spent close to $45 in gas just to get service 20 miles away during those eleven days, as my fianc

I have accidentally thrown our black cat over my right shoulder, under the ladder :eek::rolleyes:
I guess it's one of those Fridays.

Thanks to Kaat72, and Wyndslash - as they say in today's parlance: "Ya feel me, don'tcha?" Friday the 13th, July 2012, was when I held and kissed the woman of my dreams for the first time, after knowing each other for five months. Love before lust - it took me until almost a month after my 50th birthday to figure that one out; I'm 51 now, and I couldn't have asked for a better life partner - her head is in my lap, right now as I write this, as I fight off the nervousness of my second booked musical engagement since my health recovery that's coming tonight... root for LOve (that's my stage name) tonight, playing live 7-10pm at zpizza in Raleigh, NC. Thanks for allowing me to share. :D

Hangovers and seeing pictures appear on facebook that I have no recollection of being taken are getting me down at the moment.

On the flip side, Mrs Presidente is quite understanding and is out to get me some hangover food to help me feel better.

Those the wild drunken party pictures that employers check when they're vetting job applicants?

Menudo is a great hangover food ,remember it's Menudo the food not the music group :D

OJ, coffee and scrambled eggs

Yeah, plenty of fruit juice, coffee and a couple of steak slices and I'm right as rain.

Well, based on last nights evidence, any prospective employers will see glimpses of a man who takes being stylish with a beard to another level and is a sensation when handed a karaoke book and microphone.

Haha, I'm glad you clarified, cos that would've been weird...... :p

Head in your lap, huh?

And good luck:)

Music is a variety of anything (as far as cover tunes go) from the 40's to the 90's; plus, I have my original songs that tend to be easy-listening, with good drum, percussion and bass lines, orchestral tracks, and jazz chords. I'm just a musical product of my time; and, with a PreSonus studio, I produce everything in real time; no loops, or oversampling here. The main thing is, the gig went well, which cemented my continual bookings for the first and third weekends of every month (yeah!). After my downtime healthwise, it's great to be back doing what I love. Thanks for asking. :)

Always called BS, BS. I don't do what everyone else does just to feel "normal" and fit in. If that and being a cynic since Jr. High is grumpy, then I am.

Some of being nasty is the shift in behavior of people. Those idiots with snowflake kids thing that everything the kid does is all right and you are supposed to agree with it. WTH happened to the old premise that you don't touch or bother with things that don't belong to you? Why should your kid be allowed to dig up my flower bed just for the "experience"?

If those of us raised with manners get grumpy, too bad for those who don't.

I believe the original poster was referring to people who aren't just being grumpy from dealing with a bunch of rudeness... that reaction is understandable (well, MORE understandable).

I believe they were referring to older folks who act nasty and use their age to "excuse" their behavior. I often get grumpy - and in actuality "grumpy" is much different than "nasty" - when confronted with real rudeness from folks of ALL generations... and we with common sense know that it's not just one generation, yes?

But regardless of how someone is acting, there is never *really* a good reason for acting nasty. Some folks might tell themselves and others there is, because they don't want to feel bad about how they act, but there just isn't. Especially if you consider yourself a Christian.

"Some of being nasty is the shift in behavior of people." Well, people have been complaining about the world going to hell in a hand-basket since there have been people. But it's been my experience, as someone who has friends who are in their teens through their 60's and worked customer service since I've been able to work, that this supposed great "shift in behavior" has not only effected the newer generations.

So keep telling yourself whatever makes you feel better, but be aware - if you're one of those people who acts like a jerk and goes around saying, "I'm just cynical" to justify your behavior -that no one with any sense who understand how people work is going to buy it.

... and other times they make you hot and bothered. Ain't it wonderful?

My rant for today-- flimsy ice bags. I dropped my bag of ice and the bag exploded, so I lost more than half of my precious ice.

I hate flimsy ice bags too -- I paid like a WHOLE DOLLAR and the bottom half broke and I lost all my ice.

Ask nicely once. Tell them the second time, 3rd time you do get mad.
There's no reason for bad or rude behavior on the part of the offender, either.

It's not all right to let your kids loose in a restaurant to grab food off someone else's plate, it's not right for them to go into your garage and grab tools. I have friends of all ages, and none of them approve of this behavior. It isn't right for so called "christians" to protest if a store add the Muslim holiday which can fall around Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. It isn't right for those said churches to come around and proselytize your kids. So you ask once, tell twice, yell third time, fourth time, sign a complaint.
Yes, I've yelled. I caught 2 child molesters. One was a teacher, and while the kids knew I demanded certain manners, they did trust me more so than some of their parents.

We've had discussions here about handicapped. Especially the handicapped people that park every which way so even another handicapped person can't park. "I'm handicapped" is no freaking excuse for bad manners that affects someone else. Neither is "I'm a senior citizen" All of my mother's generation did not jump the queue. They waited their turns for service.

Why is it when it snows everyone in the city of Pittsburgh takes their stupid pills?

Seriously, the roads were a little greasy, but not outta control. I counted at least 6 major accidents within a 10 mile radius today. No ice on the roads, just slush and some snow.

Mr. Newton came out with the classic laws of physics a few years ago, but the concept of inertia still escapes even some very "intelligent" people. 4 wheel drive will get you going, but it won't stop you very easily.

Old song "I don't care if it rains or freezes"
The rest could be offensive, but Imus used to use it.

4WD don't stop on ice, nor will they go uphill on ice if you gun it. They don't care for slush without offroad tires, either. We have a boatload of idiots out here. Never heard of black ice. We live on a 9% hill, and it will turn into a parking lot at rush hour at the bottom.
I've had some slight hydroplaning even on an easy start. I don't have heavy duty off road tires.

Had a good solution for weight in the 2 wheel drive PU. Bags of used cat litter! With 3 cats, I had plenty.

Yer not alone there friend.
Minneapolis is filled with people that either drive like they think they're rally-racing or they're afraid that exceeding 10mph will make their wheels fall off. No middle ground. Crazy fast or crazy slow.
Every year, two thirds of the population has to re-learn how to drive in the winter. Like they've totally forgotten how to do it.

I understand we have a large imigrant population, especially in the city here, but i KNOW these foolish drivers aren't new to the game here. Not all of them.
