Its also bothering me that Google is pressuring companies to keep to stock Android. It goes against the freedom of Android. I really like Magazine UX with the New Pro series of tablets from Samsung.

Articles about Windows combining searches from Bing into Windows Accounts, Mozilla doing the same, so why not use Android as a platform for your own agenda? Get all who use Android to use Google services? They all want you to sync your info to their respective accounts.
It does go against open source, but no one wants to be left out of financial gains.
Have been reports of Nokia bringing out an Android phone - but since Nokia is aligned with MS right now, whose storage apps do you think MS would want. I like Nokia phones so I'm trying to find all the info I can. I don't like Windows.
I can see the day coming when you have to register your kids for one OS or another to keep track of school work, health, you name it.
Have no idea what Nook uses, but bought the small one, registered under a fake name as I have no intention of using B&N services. Baen and DoubleDragon are pretty good. Buy the book, download as Epub and read it. If Kindle used a card, I'd do the same.
None of what you're objecting to goes against open source in any way, shape or form, other than in your opinion.
Open source means available source code, and the free in free and open source means free as in speech, not free as in beer.
It doesn't mean that the software can't be used for commercial ventures and it never has.
If you don't want to give away your details or use Google services, then just don't.
Google gives away nothing from the goodness of their hearts. They're in business.
And by the way, Windows is not open source so why you included them in your open source rant escapes me.
The Nook uses yet another branch of Android.
The Nook you bought was lower in price because of cost savings in development passed on to you, the consumer, and you've already noted that you're not using their services either.
You got something for nothing because they gave you something for free hoping you'd like them enough to buy something later.
How dare they?
If your favorite merchant gave you something for free hoping you'd come back to buy later, would you boycott them and post here over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over how they were violating some principles with some new, nefarious scheme?
No one has gotten your information, you don't fall for it, we do, we're idiots, we need you to explain it again, we get it.
Didn't say anything about my information, just the general trend of getting everyone aboard one system. All the OS makers are attempting to do so. If you like the convenience of the services, that's fine. Everyone is trying to get commitments for a long period of time. Had a talk with my boss about this, (he is in marketing) and for the OS and business it's a good bargain. TV, entertainment all love a captive audience. Some of us are simply not wanting to be captive. A lot would use as it gives a discount, it's easier, and better the devil you know. I think 80% compliance would give a decent profit. Trying for 100% will cause a backlash.
I posted a link about how ATT wants to use partnerships for data management. Which sounds like if you want Hulu, it's approved and uses less data or you are charged less, but if you use Netflix, you will pay more.
You can't get even NFL highlights (not games) if you are not with Verizon. That's now.
And yes, I would turn something down for free. I've insulted a few merchants by doing so. There are certain motor vehicles you couldn't give me, nor a free iPhone. If I think it's crap, it's crap. And I prefer to BUY my apps. Then I'm not beholden.
Mentioned Windows with Nokia partnership. Nokia Android phone supposed to be released in Barcelona. Nokia didn't have the services, and what they had weren't that good with Symbian. Who will they pick up? Will Bing be the search engine of choice or Google? What about Drive type services? Nokia did have maps, but that's probably defunct. Not sure who has the ownership of the Nokia name.
Do you want to go back to PC or MAC days before parallels? I want choice and lots of it. Maybe I like Tumblr better than FB, would rather use Flickr than Picasa, and Wordpress over Blogger. If all the OS try to lock you into their services only, it's lose/lose.
If B&N and Amazon didn't have the right or the way to delete books you bought, it wouldn't be so bad. The Nook uses a microSD and you can keep everything on a USB stick or your computer. Purchased books have been lost by both companies. I see the new Nooks don't have the card.
I resurrected my first Nook. That didn't demand any account. Plus it reads other formats. B&N buggered it. It can't be registered. B&N rep tried for 2 hours. No Go. Their defective mdse. It works as a reader, though. I'll give the other one away - maybe son-in-law would want it.
Another example - BMW? is pairing with Apple. Do I have to buy another system just because I want a BMW?.
As for open source - I've seen a few articles that posted are NOT happy with Ubuntu since it seems to be doing its own thing. Torvalds thinks none of them are true according to his rants. So why is Android different and sacrosanct?
I must be allergic to something ...Ive been getting hives? rash/ thingy? for the last couple of days I think a low fever too...but I can't figure out what it isI haven't done anything different or eaten anything I don't normally do..Benedryl makes it better but it also makes me so tired so I hate taking it...it seems to come and go..(and no it's not hot flashes!!)
anywhoop hopefully its just some mysterious thing that will go away on its own..or maybe I'm allergic to winterand this has been one doozie of a winter...I'm done....Holiday can't get here fast enough! That's my rant and I'm sticking to it!!

That's one thing they don't tolerate is illegal activities, thank goodness, otherwise we wouldn't stay. It is a safe place and the local popo cruise thru at least once a day. It does suck living here as its only one room and small, and we had a decent life before this, but its still a roof over us. My daughter is the only family ive only really had, so just the opposite of you Lol. No regrets though and no looking back, just moving forward and doing whatever it takes. Things always work out, and I've been going out with a great woman the last month. Ok I'm going on and on, Lol.

Better watch which BMW you buy though. Got an older 30-pin dock iPhone? you might be disappointed. And of course a used BMW might not be able to plug into that new 5c or 5s.
I'm guessing the iPhone connectivity on the Beemers will be a (hideously expensive) add-on - everything else is
My 3 series has basic Bluetooth which means I can make calls but I can't stream music. I think adding BT streaming was a different BT option that I believe cost something like
My third and fifth gears are starting to slip, three years with hardly anything wrong, which i could fix myself, but this i cant! Ugh

Don't these so-called "representatives" have more pressing issues to actually DO SOMETHING about?
