Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Kicking a political opponent - particularly when they're already down - is THE most pressing issue for any politician

Precisely the reasoning for my including the image. ;)

They should all be hung by their heals and force-fed Ex-Lax... (form a mental image of that after the Ex-Lax kicks in. :D )

oops... figured 'cause it was a rant... <blush>

Hang in there, bro. No one likes a law visit from Murphy, but some Bar's Leaks for transmissions might get some fluid pressure back up in your tranny, if it's an auto. If it's a standard, it may be a release, or 'throw-out' bearing. If it's a newer servo-activated clutch, that can be expensive, if you're out of warranty... best of luck to you with your transportation. Had a conversation today with my fianc

What is it? Mine (03 Corvette M6) started shifting strangely and it was because the clutch fluid needed changed. Easy and cheap fix, but ignoring a tranny that's acting up can become VERY costly, VERY quick. Easier to take care of it early.

Its a 93 tempo 5spd Tudor. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I added a few things to up the power, cold air intake, iridium plugs, custom filters, and an aftermarket cam from a mustang. I'm limited on money tho (broke) and on a tight budget. Hopefully I can do that, if its just a fluid change. Thanks..

Wow, never heard of a souped-up Tempo lol. Car trouble sucks, hope it isn't anything too expensive.
Not mine, I wish, his is an 87 with a stroked and bored 289

I had to add something to get it up hills lol, (heck of a sleeper too :D) thanks, me neither..

Have to echo that. 'fraid I'll be no help to ya with the Tempo, but GL!
It's cool, thanks anyways, and yes its the GL lol..

You can get a Chilton's manual for the Ford Tempo, or, in your case, whatever you got for an engine (if it is a stroked & bored 289, or whatever). Find the bolts that will enable you to separate the transmission/axle housing from the motor; go online and find a step-by-step for the same, or, get a mechanic friend to help you. Replace the pressure plate, clutch disc, and release bearing (throwout). Put it all back together w/ new gaskets, fill with the specified amount and 'weight' of gear oil, and you will spend far less in parts & labor. Or, put some Bar's Transmission Stop Leak into it, and keep driving it; or, replace the transmission/axle with one that was rebuilt. Decisions, decisions... good luck, bro. LW

There's a Forum for everything...

... or three.

Doesn't mean we can't weigh on a topic in a largely topic-less thread.

What grinds my gears is that many (if not most) specialised forums cater to either the expert or the idiot. Those of us with intermediate skills in a particular area are left out in the cold-- either we are treated as trolls, shark-bait or just plain ignored.

I have a Chilton manual, but it sucks as far as details and pics. I wish mine had the 289, lol, but I just have the 2.3L. Plus I have no tools, but ill get it done somehow. I've been shifting from 2nd to 4th and staying off the highway also to make her last longer. If my rich @** sister would just help... (my rant)

The old school Mustang engines were 289 , try a manual on one of those engines ....... they are both fords anyway so maybe give it a shot .

Oh, I didn't mean anything by the pointer other than trying to give the OP leads to areas that may have people who could help.

Don't know about all but the Corvette Forum tolerates noobies to experts. I would hope others do the same. The whole premise of forums is to share information, at whatever level you may be at.

This place has to be the same. I mean there are noobies to the world of smart phones (me for example) and then there are those who eat and sleep phone technology. Everyone was a noobie at some point and hopefully everyone remembers what that felt like when zero answers showed up on THEIR questions. ;)

Some of the Mustang Forums i go on treat you like an idiot if you ask a question that they think everyone should know already...... that's why i only visit a few

Boy, that'd suck Bearsyzf!
<rhetorical question>
I mean why have, or participate in open forums if you aren't going to help people and just have a holier than thou, condescending attitude.

That's what i say , they act like they were born with all that knowledge...... NO you learned it from somebody who taught you and i'm sure you had to ask questions to

BTW : some Motorcycle Forums are the same way .
