Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Yesterday I took on a double shift at work because the person who was suppose to come in just didn't feel like coming to work. Manager called her, she said "I don't want to come into work today" and hung up.

14 straight hours.

I was a Paramedic for 6 years, I wasn't legally allowed to leave unless the next shift showed up.

Nothing like a super busy 24 hours and then put in another 24 because some jackass decided he needed the day off lol

Haven't done a shift that long. 15 hours is the longest. 8th hour to 11th is time and a half. Anything past 11 hours is double time.

Work rant

I'm not racist by any means so please no body take this the wrong way.

So I'm the only white person who works here.

The manager is Hispanic but the rest are black.

So they've been telling me I talk to much (I talk alot but I already knew this) see but when the new black girls who were hired along side me talk to them it's not a big deal.

Well I found out what they all meant by 'talk to much' they mean they don't trust me.

Not gonna lie I'm really feeling like it's the fact that I'm white that's causing them to feel this way. Ugh I really don't know what to do. :/

All ethnic groups use words differently. What one word signifies to you as a Caucasian, might mean something else totally to an AA or Hispanic. Listen to speech patterns. If you sound in the least authoritarian - either you "pontificate" like the Vulcan does, or like a parent to child, even others of your race will resent it.

I used to work in a dry cleaners years ago. The pressers were all African/American. We got along just fine. One time we hired a white kid to help out, and he didn't turn on the fan when he got the clothes out of the extractor. He got higher than a kite and painted psychedelic birds in the back bathroom. None of the pressers would use that room until it was repainted. (The boss painted it) The birds just looked weird to the rest of us. The pressers couldn't explain WHY the birds made them so uneasy.
