Not at all. Any sensible management will recognise the employees who add most value and contribution to the company, and reward or otherwise encourage these employees to stay with the company.
I agree with everything that you said. However, I work my A$$ Off at my job as a Facilities Administrator/Procurement Specialist/IT Assistant...and I haven't gotten a raise in almost 4 years.

But if you get a raise, that's less money in the rich people's pockets! You can't possibly be that selfish, can you?

4 years without a pay rise is too long.
If you go to the management and ask for a pay rise, citing all the good work you do, and value you add to the company, and they still refuse to give you one, it's time to find a more reasonable employer.

Which is why this cat is looking for another job.

Dngrswife just authorized me to apply for some of those technical jobs that would send me on overseas deployments: at twice what I'm making now, I could afford a room somewhere near the workplace and still maintain the leeches in the style they are used to, plus I won't have to hear them complain about it all...

Sounds like a win-win :D

Well, today's job-search on company had netted me a dozen hits.

This may take me a while, if I want to apply to all of them...

Why not kick some of the birds out of the nest? Time to see if they can fly on their own. Easier said than done, though, I realize that.

I have no friends.

Not strictly true, of course: I have you, my imaginary friends who all live inside my computer/phone, and a couple coworkers that I can complain about aspects of my miserable existence, but no one who shares all (or even most) of my interests and knowledge-base.

I hate to admit it but since it's right there in writing I can't say the same isn't true for me. The kid comes closest to sharing my interests but not really. We have a lot of the same but he's far, far away and all grown up and doing his own thing. Oh. He's coming for a visit mid-week!! Yay!!

You're welcome at my place for a coffee and a chat any time. That's if you're ever in the UK.

I was out for a run today down a small country lane, when a car
Cats are anti social......er, solitary creatures anyway, unless of course, they want something.

Strange, I could probably apply that to most people I know.

Amen. All my friends are anonymous people on forums. That and Facebook people I either haven't seen in years or have never met in person at all.

I'm a girl who wants to talk about cars, electronics, politics, and a wide variety of other boring topics. [emoji854]
