Root [Release] Another new baseband C_01.43.01P

Basebands cant be limited to certain roms that not how they work. I have no clue how it would break sync or tether but both work fine for me

All my Gmail accounts are fine again - the ones I removed/re-added work, and the primary account was fixed by the phone - it prompted me with a dialog saying my account had changed and asking me to sign in again...entered my PW and it tried and couldn't connect, gave me a try again button and it worked and all is well again.

My initial sense of this Baseband is that it may be the first baseband update I've had that seems (though it's early on) to have actually improved my reception...real test will be when I go into work tomorrow, where I typically have pretty bad reception....

I'm on CM 5.0.7.1 (2.1 ROM)....

Why do you want to?

B/c .42 works - if .43 b0rks things I cannot have that - my phone is my lifeline at work. Simply unacceptable to have things not works (I write this as I continue to play with FroYo 2.2 on my phone....yeah, right.)

Very good to know - about to update.

on my way home from work I am going to give this baseband another shot.

What I find really weird is the other day I updated to .41 and it worked fine. Updated to .43 an hour ago and it caused bootloops after activating the phone and trying to sign back into google. So I reinstalled the .41 baseband and then that was causing the same loops. I had to downgrade all the way back to the original baseband to stop the bootloops.

Anybody have an idea what could be going wrong?

Ohh ohh, I thoguht you updated already, I was wondering if you were having problems.

Has anybody flashed this with Clockwork? Maybe that is the problem, doh. Gonna try with SPR a little later.:o

Your download could be messed up...re-download the file and replace the one that's currently on your SD card and flash again..

I'm rebooting. Using it with 2.1 NexTheme. I'll report back. I agree with OMJ ... shouldn't matter what ROM you're using.

Yes. I have. and I have not experienced any problems thus far.

You're correct - the baseband is independent of the OS (think of it as akin to your BIOS being independent of your OS on your computer) - and stays even if you format and reinstall the OS.

UPDATE:

redownloaded the baseband zip

renamed to update.zip on root of sd card and used SPR

installed went fine this time. because john used clockwork, I'm sure the first download was bad. thanks everyone for the help

FYI Juice defender does not play nice with Froyo and this baseband. it will lock the 3G off at times and you have to put it in airplane mode then take it out to get 3G to pickup.

Interesting, I'm running JD on 2.1 (CM 5.0.7.1) and this baseband, I'll have to watch and see if I see anything similar...nothing like that so far, so maybe only a 2.2 issue.

Have you turned off JD for while to make sure it's the only reason this is happening?

yeah. and i go through the settings all over again with each rom or baseband update.

I'm using JD on the newest 2.2 build (not the newest baseband) and I haven't seen any issues... When I first flashed the new baseband (the one before this one) I had issues with it not doing the setup right, so when I flashed the new 2.2 I didn't go through setup I just restored my TiBu back up and it has been going well...

I just did.

Had not updated at all yet, so was pretty much naked.

Put the .41 update on SD card, and also the .43

Clockwork, install rom from SD card, selected the .41, flashed. Came up to activate after rebooting. I didn't activate. Hit the home key, went into settings, check, had updated the radio. Went back to Clockwork, install from SD card, selected .43 radio, flashed.

Everything updated, phone back to normal. No errors on my part.

[I read somewhere on other forum about guy updating both before activating. Wasn't my idea.]

Below was his post

When it Rains, it Pours: Newest Radio File for the Motorola Droid C_01.43.01P

Went ahead and installed it. I didn't bother renaming it. Just rebooted into clockwork recovery through ROM manager, installed by choosing the .zip and rebooted. First try at activation was a success too, unlike the last one.

If signal strength is any indication of change, then this hasn't done a thing. Still at -93dBm. I have notoriously horrible signal at my house and have Verizon "working on" fixing it as we speak. But I'm willing to try anything in the meantime. Never had any 1x drops from 3G though. Just dropped calls.

What will this improve?

Lots of flashing basebands with no mention (unless I missed a post...) of what the baseband is improving ...I flashed C.01.41.00R and I'm staying put for the time being.

That's how I feel. I upgraded to the last one, but really i don't see any apparent difference. Maybe it is better, but I couldn't see it. Also, when I upgraded it screwed up some internal settings, making my activation impossible.

Here's what I recommend people do if they are upgrading basebands to avoid my problem:

BEFORE upgrading,
1. Dial ##7764726 and press call button
2. enter 000000 and click on "verify"
3. select number 1, User Activation
4. Look for MDN=1234567890 (probably will be your phone number)
WRITE THIS DOWN
5. Look for MIN=1234567890 (could be your phone number or another number) WRITE THIS DOWN
6. Look for CDMA SYS ID= 1234 (whatever number that is assigned to your area) WRITE THIS DOWN

You can also screen cap the entire screen of course.

The problem with my baseband upgrade, was it changed the three numbers I suggest you mark down above! Luckily, we've got another Droid in our house, so I could fill in the CDMA SYS ID and finally activate.

Now you can hit the back button and no changes will have taken place.

IF you upgrade base band, and you get a repeated "cannot activate" message, repeat steps 1 through 3 above, and reenter the numbers you saved. Then go back to home screen then phone should restart and then reactivate. You may not need it but just in case I thought I would pass this on. It caused me an extra hour of frustration during the reactivation.
