Now I'm kinda pissed. I went to the sprint store yesterday to find out if I could infact order the phone today online being a premier customer and I was told no. So I went ahead and pre-ordered, paid the $50 and now I have a giftcard I can't use towards my bill and have to pay the stupid $18 upgrade fee... I would have saved myself some $$$ just ordering it today and probably got it faster. I hate people that don't know what the hell they're talking about.:mad:

It is also possible you were at a Sprint reseller vs a Sprint Corporate Store and they just did not know. But regardless I would think that some in store reps are better than others and maybe someone else in these forums can verify the guess I am about to make.... I would think that in store reps get paid a commission based off of sales and activations so it behooves them to have a customer buy from them rather than online.
 
Glad I saw this post, I decided to call Sprint and told them I am a Premier customer and can I order my EVO 3d now, and they said yes, they also said I may get a headache and nausea from the screen at the beginning, LOL so it is ordered and on its way, should have it on Thursday, Yah baby, my review will follow shortly after. :D

Yeah, it's not really a big deal to wait until Friday. I have to trade my old Evo in anyway...Just wish they'd waive the $18 upgrade fee that I think is BS.
 
They did not charge me and also free 2 day shipping, I would call Account Services and complain about it, I am sure they will take care of it

Yeah they didn't charge you because you ordered online, if you order in the store they charge the $18 fee. But I guess it's worth a shot, I'll give em a call.
 
Yes call and tell them they said you could not order it online, period, Account Services will waive the fee, and I did not order it online, I called *2 on my phone.

Okay looks like the status has changed yet again and now says:

We were in the process of receiving inventory for the EVO 3D at our warehouse, so your order, or a portion of your order, may temporarily show in a backorder status. This will not change our delivery commitment to you and you can continue to expect your EVO 3D to arrive within 2 to 5 business days based on date of order.

Now I'm thinking my wife won't receive her's until Friday (maybe Thursday).

Now this is weird, this morning I called Sprint to order the phone, rep saw that I got the early order email, then told me it wasn't available yet. Strange I thought, I've been with them for 9yrs and I am a Premier customer, it must depend on who you talk to at telesales. I went on Sprint's website through the Premier link, ordered the phone, got the confirmation, and now awaiting a tracking number.......

Sure sounds like demand exceeded supply here. Although it would appear that they had a contingency plan. They can get a bunch more quickly, but maybe not quickly enough for you to get it next day...

If they were a little better with their communication they would get even more for the contingency plan.

As soon as I get a tracking number and can confirm an estimated delivery date, then I will cancel the 4 I have on preorder. I'm sure a lot of the people who ordered online are in the same boat as me. That should give them plenty more for the contingency plan.

My bet is that they have different warehouses and when warehouse A is depleted that message goes up and warehouse B either sends out more inventory to A or starts taking the orders. Possibly based on zip code/location. We do the same thing in my business with multiple warehouses.

I will do my best to answer some of the questions as well. I think I am going to like after using the Hero for the last year and a half. Now I got to find some kind of case to order. Sprint says right now they have no cases for the 3D.

I would say hold on to your pre-orders until you actually receive the phones. Anything could happen during shipping.

I just checked and was told that the warehouse was processing incoming inventory early afternoon, which resulted in some people getting a "backorder" message. I'm told that orders are current processing and we are not in a "backorder" status.

Well, I got better news......I JUST GOT MY TRACKING NUMBER FOR BOTH MY ORDERS!!!!! Damn, I am so excited!!!

I also got an email stating that my orders are on the way.
