Sprint doesn't want to announce it and get a rush of people returning evos. They know better, they are waiting for that 30 day window to close on the majority of buyers.
I'm gonna speculate an August 15th release which is a Sunday. Sprint is giving $100 instant rebates on sprint.com (except for Evo) til the 14th of August.
Sprint is offering up to $100 in instant rebates when buying a phone online until 8/14 (Phone Arena News)
Purely speculation on my part. I hope it's no later.
Found this posting over at Android Central, and really hoping it's true.

Over the last two weeks I've gone in to several Sprint stores to talk to them about upgrading my account for the EVO or the Epic 4G. None of the first 3 places I went to would even give a clue as to when the Epic was coming out. Finally the guy I spoke to today said his district sales manager told them they'd be receiving their stock of Epics next week in preparation for the phone to be released the last week of July. Or the first week of August at the latest. he also said the screen on the Epic was better than the EVO's screen. So I'm excited, and also hope he wasn't blowing smoke up my @$$.

Hands-on with the Sprint Epic 4G | Android Central
Indeed. My 30 days are up in 3 days and I'm going to return my phone either today or tomorrow and snag a moment in the meantime. It's the cheapest android phone I can source locally at the moment (pun not intended).lol I returned my evo on day 29 because I knew this phone was coming out. I went backwards to a moment to stay on the android side of the fence & I can't stand how slow this thing is. epic can't get here fast enough!
Sure the 30 days is reset however depending on where you got it you may be ineligible to get the Epic at the "upgrade" price unless you decide to pay full price for the moment. At least at RS you can return phones as often as you'd like however you only get one upgrade. This is to the best of my knowledge.I just got the EVO on Monday the 12th, if the Epic doesn't come out before my 30 days are up if I trade it in for a moment does my 30 day return policy start over?

Actually you cannot return a phone twice and you will pay a $35.00 restocking fee if you return a phone if you got it through an upgrade.
