Release date

There's been quite a lot of silence about the epic lately. Absolutely no new information. Oh well, continuing anticipation.

Sprint doesn't want to announce it and get a rush of people returning evos. They know better, they are waiting for that 30 day window to close on the majority of buyers.

I completely agree. It's the same reason AT&T barely promotes anything that isn't an Apple.

I'm gonna speculate an August 15th release which is a Sunday. Sprint is giving $100 instant rebates on sprint.com (except for Evo) til the 14th of August.

Sprint is offering up to $100 in instant rebates when buying a phone online until 8/14 (Phone Arena News)

Purely speculation on my part. I hope it's no later.

Can you buy another phone before the cutoff, get the rebate, and then return/exchange it for the Epic? And keep the rebate? Assuming you're within the 30 day exchange window..

Found this posting over at Android Central, and really hoping it's true.

Over the last two weeks I've gone in to several Sprint stores to talk to them about upgrading my account for the EVO or the Epic 4G. None of the first 3 places I went to would even give a clue as to when the Epic was coming out. Finally the guy I spoke to today said his district sales manager told them they'd be receiving their stock of Epics next week in preparation for the phone to be released the last week of July. Or the first week of August at the latest. he also said the screen on the Epic was better than the EVO's screen. So I'm excited, and also hope he wasn't blowing smoke up my @$$.

Hands-on with the Sprint Epic 4G | Android Central

That's sweet if it's true. Maybe we'll hear some news from Sprint shortly. We'll just have to see.

Hands-on with the Sprint Epic 4G | Android Central

I really hope so! I'm getting real impatient as each day goes by with no news. I hope the release date is announced after the Captivate and Vibrant hit stores.

I also saw on another forum mention july 28th which is kind of weird for sprint to release on a wednesday, but I hope it's right

I really hope the release is before August.....I can't take many more days of Android 1.5 on my Moto Cliq.....I can't even download most apps because my phone is living in the dark ages of Android....I'm going to go ahead and guess August 4th as the release date.....I agree with you guys about the 30 day return window for EVOs....This phone will blow the EVO away in most categories so any users experiencing the numerous issues with their EVOs could return and exchange and that would be a huge mess that Sprint and HTC most definitely want to avoid.....How about some pre-order and release date info already Sprint!?!?!

lol I returned my evo on day 29 because I knew this phone was coming out. I went backwards to a moment to stay on the android side of the fence & I can't stand how slow this thing is. epic can't get here fast enough!

Indeed. My 30 days are up in 3 days and I'm going to return my phone either today or tomorrow and snag a moment in the meantime. It's the cheapest android phone I can source locally at the moment (pun not intended).

I just got the EVO on Monday the 12th, if the Epic doesn't come out before my 30 days are up if I trade it in for a moment does my 30 day return policy start over?

Sure the 30 days is reset however depending on where you got it you may be ineligible to get the Epic at the "upgrade" price unless you decide to pay full price for the moment. At least at RS you can return phones as often as you'd like however you only get one upgrade. This is to the best of my knowledge.

Actually you cannot return a phone twice and you will pay a $35.00 restocking fee if you return a phone if you got it through an upgrade.

Lol, just returned my Evo today(day 29 as well) and when I mentioned the Epic the guy had no clue what I was talking about and dismissed it as a better Moment. I told him more about it and now he's really interested in getting it for himself.

I had to pay the $35 since there was technically nothing wrong with my phone. There shouldn't be light leakage on a $500 device.

When I returned my EVO at Bestbuy I got a full refund with no restocking fee, I took mine back on the 30th day due to the screen separating. I can't wait to try the EPIC, I hope it comes out by the end of July!

got full refund on my evo as well. even got to keep the free bluetooth they gave away for doing the pre order. one thing I made sure to do was to double check to make sure my upgrade was again still there & I'm good. I had the screen lift issue on the evo didn't notice light leak. still an amazingly fast device. this moment reminds me of my tp2. worse in some aspects.

I really hope thisphone is released soon. I just ported my wife and son to Sprint from Verizon and I will port my number as soon as this thing is for sale. Unfortunately I think that be waiting until Black Friday....hope I'm wrong.
