ok so its a pain in the neck when i accidently restore to a nandroid that i dont want..ive read on this forum if u rename it will cause errors and if u leave spaces it will cause errors too. i wanna know if its safe to rename my backup and if i could whats the right way. thanks in advance!!

Root renaming nandroid backups?

i rename mine by putting the name of the rom in front of the name. just make sure not to add spaces or any weird symbols.

I read where you mentioned that before, then some other guy says he puts them on the end, just not changing the date, spaces or weird symbols.
I have been copying them to pc, putting on a descriptive suffix and figure I will cut it off the name if I ever go to put it back.

here is what i just did "mik3dB1-20110827-0157"
nope. you can rename the entire thing if you like. you can use the name of the rom and delete everything else if you like.

if you named it SugarHoneyIcedTea that would work as a name for a nandroid backup.

Are you speaking about the file on the phone or a backup file on the PC? If phone, how is it done? Is there a "Rename File" option or such? Thanks...

on your phone, using a file manager prog, such as astro or es file explorer. you navigate to the Nandroid folder, assuming using amon ra recovery., then down through one more level to the actual nands.
Those are folders, as well. The folders can be renamed, not using any spaces or weird characters.
I'll do something like Mik3LS. For me that is Mik 3.0 and i stuck the Landscape mod on it.

I always do the Rom Name/version number and the date I did the nandroid backup. So a nandroid backup for Cyanogen Mod 7.1 backed up today for me would be renamed: Cyanogen71011012. I have yet to have a problem and I can keep them organized well.
Can you delete backups from your phone? Like, if I changed something about my CyanogenMod, and I wanted to make a backup so I could switch to my MIUI, how would I replace my last backup? I don't want a bunch of backups in my folder that I have to sift through. One per ROM, thank you very much. Is there an easy way of replacing one with another so I only have the most updated backup?
Should be on your sd card under /sdcard/nandroid/ht185hl01161/ then the actual file you can delete is named bcdears-2012929-0048 or something like that.
i save the nandroid backups onto my pc for the roms that i like. the ones i do not i just delete them. i also have saved my backups onto the cloud. i still have my very first nandroid backup i did when i first rooted and it is saved in my dropbox account.

yeah it is pretty much useless to me, because i made it with cwm. and i have amon ra2.3 recovery and do not plan on switching it. but it is just cool that i have it still.
