The bin didn't look corrupt
It has to be in the same QPST folder in the Start Menu.
I just factory reset my phone, erased internal memory, and tried it again...same results.
Edit: Is there some way to get it to read the bin slower? Probably doesn't work like that but my netbook, obviously slower than my desktop, just gave me a bin that was almost 7MB zipped. Not sure whats different cause same netbook game me like a 1MB file earlier but it has been on for a while so I don't know if it's just the heat that is slowing it down and now it gets a larger bin....LOL. I dunno.
Edit2: Tried it again on my desktop and now getting 7MB also on zipped bin. Tried messing with baud rate and stuff but still same result. Besides the factory reset (which was still giving me 1MB zipped bin earlier) not sure why it's now coming out to 7MB zipped now.

You are welcome to download it. I've replaced the actual MSL value with the text string "THEMSL." So, do a text search for "THEMSL" (without quotes) using HxD (Menu: Search>Find) and you should see five instances in the file.
In this ebi0_cs0.bin file, my MSL was located at the following hex offsets:
1. 038DF620
2. 038DF670
3. Split-up on two lines at 063DA370 and 063DA380
4. 06D71B10
5. 07496A80

Well, I was getting the error 67 message, so I called them, and wrote down my code out of hindsight.

Yeah, if you have the 6 digit number already, you can go ahead to attempt the flashing process. Still, proceed with caution.

Is this possibly only working on 32bit windows?
No luck here on my Windows 7 32bit desktop or netbook.
EDIT: HOLY CRAP! I just got a 177MB zipped bin!
Now, I'm not 100% sure what did it, but here is what I did. I must have reinstalled the driver files over 5 times total but this last time I did "Run as administrator" on all driver installs. And then before I even bothered trying QPST again, I sent a desktop shortcut of both QPST Configuration and Memory Debug App and in the properties set both of them to "Run this program as administrator" and I finally got my MSL.I am logged in as administrator and have UAC turned off but maybe installing the drivers this way and not just running the program after it's installed as administrator is what made the difference.
EDIT:Guess I spoke too soon...the number was at 07496A80, but it's not working for me...

blind send the bin to me. there is potentially more than one location for the msl files.

Intersting. Did you go and try ##data# try a non working SPC twice. Power down and do a ##diag# enable and then try to download the memory?
It should easily produce a working bin once you have enabled ##DIAG#

An Update that I got BLiND's phone to register the correct MSL. His bin was good, however,due to the fact that all memory pulls can often contain garbage data, some of the garbage overwrote the MSL.
I had him plug the phone into another port, let the drivers reinstall (no need to manually uninstall and reinstall) and then register a different com port. Worked out great.
The commonality between his OS and mine is that we are both running ultimate. He 32bit, myself 64. Therefore I hypothesize that it's a permissions setting and running and installing in admin on windows home is not enough.
I have to test this on a windows home build but this link enables a hidden administrative account.

After I got the spc from virgin mobile And my phone was diag enabled I did not disable and try the bin again, I only searched the original bin after I got the diag enabled to see where it might be located, I didn't find it unfortunately, I'm not an expert but I think slot of people are having the modem drive not install, could that be a possibility of why it's not working? I'll search my bin again just to make sure
Also my phone is now rooted, I wanted to thank everyone that spent hours/says/weeks on making this happen, I really appreciate your guys work, thanks so much

I nearly always use my Administrator account for a few reasons (I'm well aware of the risks).

Yep, success with help from WhisperPntr, from what I thought I was the MSL code last time to this time, there was only a 1 digit difference. And that modem driver, failed on both desktop and netbook so that's not the problem everyone is having.

Your welcome and the modem driver not installing is not definitively why it would not work. I suspsect it's permission settings and to be honest we probably needed full administrative rights as one would receive if they logged into the administrator account.
I suspected this but didn't realize it would be so extensive. Congrats on the root!

i read that a user was going to make CWM for this device, I would REALLY like to help on that or at least be involved in that, I have alot of spare time on my hand this week and would like to put some time into this community...thanks
Ok guys, I just successfully got my MSL on my netbook with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. The method WhisperPntr probably works but I remember having trouble with it at one point where I was trying to do something with my computer. If you understand it and have maybe used it before, go ahead, but I went a different route and this is mostly for everyone that is already at the step where you are seeing the bin but just getting the yyyyyyyy:
LOL, I made it so long but hope it works for you guys too.
- I installed this program called TakeOwnershipEx from WinAero: Downloads / Software / TakeOwnershipEx allows you to get full access to files and folders
- After you install that you open the application, press Take Ownership and find the folder where you extracted the drivers downloaded from the first post, which should be at "C:\LGVM696". (Maybe even try reinstalling the drivers at this point before continuing.)
- Again in TakeOwnershipEX after installing QPST press the Take Ownership button and find the QPST folder which in my case is at "C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\QPST".
- This step might not be necessary but I have a shortcut of QPST Configuration (QPSTConfig.exe) and Memory Debug App (MemoryDebugApp.exe) on the desktop and in the Properties-Compatibility on both these files I have "Run this program as administrator" ticked.
- If your phone is currently on, connected, and have everything ticked in the Development page dial ##data# (##3282#), select Data Profile and then edit, input all 0's twice. This will reboot the phone and you will have to get ready to hold the up/down volume to get in Download Mode.
- Then you go through the same process as the front page, you open QPST, add the port, go to Memory Debug App, tick "Use Unframed Memory Reads" and browse for your port. Now, I would create a folder inside "C:\LGVM696" just to be sure it has the right administrative rights, just name it "BIN DUMP" or something and "Save to.." that folder. "C:\LGVM696\BIN DUMP"

All we need is a frustrated individual to see if this works. You have to install an extra program but if this works in taking over the ownership then it's a very easy step that I'll include it as an actual fix.
Right but even though XP is generally more forgiving in this regard, we are assuming that xp x64, the drivers installed from a NEW phone, and qpst all play nicely with each other.
I don't have an XP x32 bit build not to mention x64, any more so I can't confirm it. All we know right now is that it works on windows 7 when the variables are right.
So running in administration mode for the upteenth time to get the same results as though you were on user, getting garbage data despite a clean pull, getting different data when you switch to another port, and so on.
I've personally been there done that for 2 weeks until I finally found something that works for me. Sad to say it apparently works ONLY for those who are on win 7 ultimate and a admin/owned mode for windows 7.
