I was having problems with unrEVOked trying to get S-OFF as well and OCNBRZE recommended rEVOlutionARY and it worked flawlessly on my OG EVO just a couple of weeks ago. I would go rEVOlutionary for sure!!

sorry I didn't get back to you last night, fell asleep. Okay awesome, well then later this evening I will do the captn method and I'll let you know if I have any problems (do you want me to let you know if it was successful for the other guy having the same issue?). Thank you for your help. This place sure is one of the nicest and most helpful forums I have ever been on.

and please do. let us know how it went or if you have questions or run into issues.

i agree.....it is why i love AF. best members on the planet!!!! it should always be your first place to go to for help.

also keep in mind that we have the Android Lounge - Android Forums and The Lounge - Android Forums in which i hang out as well(though not so much now that i'm a mod now....LOL) but there are some great folks there as well.

let us know how it goes and i hope to see ya around AF as well.

I go on this other forum for Ubuntu and everyone there treats me like i'm the dumbest person on the planet when I'm pretty intelligent about linux (at least ubuntu). I only go there if I absolutely have to now. Anyways, I really think I am going to start coming around here more.

and please do. let us know how it went or if you have questions or run into issues.

I'm about to start after I finish an email to a friend, I'll let you guys know how it went... or how it didn't, haha.

but we have quite a few peeps here who knows ubuntu pretty well. i wish we had a forum for it here. but most hang out here: Computers & IT - Android Forums

let us know how it goes or went.....lol

I love ubuntu, I want to try out Fedora but I don't want to uninstall my ubuntu, I'll might dual boot ubuntu and fedora. My ubuntu looks a lot like fedora anyways.

well, i'm having problems with the htcdev stuff. I think it's because I'm using linux maybe... I get to the part where it says to put the command
[HIGH]fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
[/HIGH]
then it says that it is waiting on the device. I am supposed to leave it in the fastboot menu right? I might have to wait for my roommate to get home so I can use his windows machine.

yeah i'm not sure on the right command in linux.....sorry. but the phone needs to be in the fastboot menu accessed via the bootloader.

Alright, I was in fastboot in the bootloader so it must be a linux thing. But I don't know, usually this stuff works out fine. All the tacoroot commands gave me the same outputs as windows (i tried both before I asked on here). I'll wait until my roommate gets home and I'll tell you what happens. It might be real late when he gets back so don't be waiting around for me if you have something else to do, or sleep. lol. I'm in no rush to get this done, rushing usually causes mistakes.

Hi, noob here. I could swear that I'm following the directions accordingly but I still seem to run into problems no matter the guide I use. When I try to use the HTCDev option, I can't get past the fastboot in the bootloader, the command window just stays on 'waiting for device' and when I tried to use the tacoroot method it gets stuck inbetween the setup and the root process in the cmd window. Am I to leave it at the triangle screen and do the adb command there, or am I to reboot the phone and do it with the phone on, on the charge only option?

Again, I'm sure I'm just missing something trivial. I have searched for many hours before posting, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Killeravacado!
Well, I think we should concentrate on one method or the other.
I recommend concentrating on the HTC dev method since it's easier:)

Do you have fastboot unchecked?
Do you have usb debugging enabled?
Drivers installed?
(just making sure)

When you plug in your phone to your computer whilst in fastboot (in bootloader screen), do the words "fastboot-usb" come up in red text?

Fastboot unchecked, debugging enabled, drivers are installed. To answer your final question, yes, it does change from fastboot to fastboot-usb, except it only happens after I plug in the cable and then press the volume up button.

Also, thanks for your quick reply.

o.k..that's good that it says "fastboot-usb"
that means the phone is recognized by the computer.
Now, you said the command window was saying "waiting for device"?
Is that command window message when you were doing the HTC dev method?

o.k...and sorry, but just verifying again:p
You created the Android folder on your desktop and also running the commands from that folder?
And in that folder, you have these 3 files?
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
fastboot.exe

Yes, yes and yes. I am running the command line by pressing shift and then right clicking on the folder and then selecting 'open in command window here'
