thanks ill ttry that nowwelcome to the forums!!!!!!!
all you need to do is flash a stok rom. no need to unroot to get it activated. you are on deck's which is an aosp rom. aosp roms will not work with reactivation. try flashing mikg3.11 or any of the stock roms should work as well.
you can get the roms here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/618281-list-utilities-apps-roms-kernels-og-evo.html

there are no duplicatesMake sure you only have 1 .bin file in your Android folder. As well as only one of those files you listed above.....i.e. no duplicates
I did accidentally try to open it when i first downloaded it.. (hit left mouse button instead of right mouse button) i have restarted my pc as well as re-downloaded the bin file from my email since thenMake sure you just move the .bin file from your email to your Android folder...dont open it or anything.
yesIs your phone still in fastboot and still connected to computer?
no i'm opening the command promt from the start menu run (I did try to open it from the android file by right clicking but I couldn't find an option to bring up the cmd promt from there)Are you opening the command prompt from the Android folder?
yesDo the words on your phone screen say "fastboot usb" in red when your phone is connected?
no problem.. maybe one of them will help us figure this outSorry for the many questions![]()

I'm getting there the way the htcdev instructions said to start menu>run>type-- cmd which brings up a command promt.. then typeSo from your start menu, you have no problem navigating to your android folder to open a command prompt. I'm on my phone now, so my replies are a little slow![]()
if you are running xp like i was maybe try doing just the last command c:\android>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin on a window's 7/8 pc, that worked for me on my window's 8 osliljq said:hey everyone i have a problem when trying to root my evo 4g using htcdev method i get to the part where you write fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin and then it says it failed any answers thank you or replies
WOOOOOOHOOOOO !!!!!
ok so i'm now i'm unlocked!!! I found out what the problem was (atleast for me) I was doing all this on a windows XP PC.. after hrs of useless restarts, installing un-installing, deleting, downloading the same things over and over.. i was about to give up on doing it the htcdev and captain way i decided to dig out my windows 8 beta hd and see if it would work... after just 10-15min of collecting and installing all the programs/ files needed
I simply
right-mouse click+shift on my c:android file folder then clicked on Open command window here
then simply typed fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin and bam worked like a charm
now i just need to figure out which rom to install?? I have cricket service.. so hoping to find a rom that everything works great wifi, teathering, mms, data.. any sudgestions will be much appreciated
also hope this helps other ppl out.. funny how the lil things you don't even think about are the things that give you the hardest time

o.k...no worries! You do not need to run HTCSync.....you just needed to download that for the drivers.Help!!!
I'm trying to root my Sprint Evo 4G using the HTCDEV method. I've gone to their website and downloaded the 3 files to get started. I've installed HTCSync 3.x, along with the other files it installed.
Now after installing and running HTCSync it says "No device connected". Also on my EVO it says "Finding HTC Sync on your PC," then "Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC...."
What am I doing wrong??!?!?!?!?
thanks in advance
.....Let me ask you this, when you plug in your phone and mount as disk drive, does your computer "see" it? (not talking about htcsync)
