Root [ROM][4.0.4][BETA] CM9 for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 10/3/2013

Hey phenom, I don't think its the extended kernel. I frog gen love the increased clock, you just have to baby it. Seen me the kernel source and I'll happily find and edit the code that incorporates the clockspeeds to have a full spread as opposed to this mess where it jumps 400 MHz.

Where is the Google Play Store? Where is Mass Storage (on connecting to computer)? Where is charging (on connecting to computer)?. These are essential to call your phone a smart phone. And NO ONE wants to pay hundreds of dollars for a phone that can't do anything that smart phones are supposed to do. Am I missing something? Is there an update that I did not see?

This is the first release, thats why it's called "Alpha".....

You need to flash google apps to get the play store. Last time I checked mass storage pretty much worked. And yes, it's alpha. It's not intented to be your daily driver unless you can live without some of the stuff smartphones do.

I made a flashable zip of the 4-13 kernel in case anyone else was having issues with the newer ones. I tested it on the 4-16 and 4-26 versions

I meant 4-24 I'm still getting over a pretty bad flu

Both the updater script and the update binary (META-INF stuff) are what makes something "Flashable" through recovery. They inform clock work mod where to put the file you're installing..... So yes you need all of them in a zip if you're going to flash

hmm i must be doing something wrong i selected all the files, compressed them into a zip file but when i go to flash it it aborts it.

And the phone is $50 at RadioShack. Any electronics vendor who sells the OE should be willing to price match with that too. Even when the OE first came out, I don't think it was more than $150, which is what I paid for it.

Do me a favor and try using Zarchiver from the play store to compress them together. You might try "normal compression" or "No Compression" see how that works. I don't have access to a computer, so I'm trying to figure something out for you. I have a friggin zip of the newest rom right here with the old kernel it, but I'm not near any wifi. You could take the boot.img itself and replace the one in the actual ROM with the other one. I highly recommend you do all that with zarchiver though, since I can confirm it worked for me.

"Alpha" ...."Software that has just been compiled and
ready for its initial testing inhouse. These releases will likely have issues and all features and functions may not be available." Per Pc Magazine and wikipedia. The developer was just kind enough to make it a public alpha test. And as I stated previously this is a beta quality build. As for market and usb/mass storage...
A. Flash GApps per the op's instructions. This has been SOP for a very long time with Cyanogen Mod its nothing new or magical. That will give you google services etc. Cyanogen Mod is designed to run independent of Google and Googles applications.
B. Reading is fundamental and the reason for these forums and threads. Had you read you would've known of these issues beforehand and knew the fixes that were discovered in the testing phases thus far.
C. Ask for guidance and help before posting something that makes it look like your flaming and letting your noob flag fly.

*exits soapbox*

I just downloaded the kernel kenharkney posted. Someone was having an issue downloading it so I mirrored it.

Oh gotcha. So he must have thrown together the meta inf. I don't particularly know how to throw an update binary together and my phone tells me the file is to large to display when I try to look at one.

I don't know why but sometimes drive liked to decompress the zip. It's supposed to be one zip file. I'll upload it to devhost tomorrow

I had the same problem when downloading via my elite. But it was fine on my nexus 4. I have Google drive on my nexus and I think that made the difference.

Try this link from my box account. https://www.box.com/s/3y5eywqre31aka74engo

For whatever reason my pc wouldnt download the updater-script it would do 1kb and thats why it wouldnt flash when i put them all in zip file. i dont know what the problem was but the zip from that link worked perfect thanks for the help.

Someone try this kernel to see if it's any better.

Just downloaded. About to flash

Ok performance seems to be better eventhough I didn't run it long. The reason I didn't was that I started playing subway surfers and all of a sudden it said it couldn't connect to facebook so I checked and it said I don't have service. Like it didn't even try to connect
