Root [ROM][4.0.4][BETA] CM9 for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 10/3/2013

@Phenom have you looked at the market camera? I mean decompiled it and maybe had a look at the code? Just curious how its communicating with the hardware.

Fixed the orientation crash, now it's crashing because it can't setup preview. Currently looking in the preview area. I'll try pushing the stock camera from GB to see if it can show preview.

Tried the stock camera from GB. Still crashes because of preview.

"java.io.IOException: setPreviewDisplay failed"

Glad to see progress with the camera phenom, its got me so anxious. :D

a little off topic: Is anyone here running USB tethering?
I'm using wifi tether for root users(the one with the yellow wifi symbol) and I hate it. My battery just keeps draining like crazy and its so slow.

I haven't tested it without using a 3rd party app but I can when I get home.

Ive been using pda net, its the only one i found that works

just fix the performance if you can and many people will be happy. It is almost unbearably slow on my phone.

I concur. Even though the camera is important, at least to my job, I would rather see performance increased to, say the level of Sleipner, and then fix problems with camera in due time.

I had the CyanogenMod ROM running on my phone for a day or two and it was just too sluggish for me to use efficiently, so went back to Sleipner.

Believe it or not, prioritizing in software development can solve other issues either directly or indirectly. Indirectly meaning that you may stumble onto something else that would fix the camera - or at least lead to a fix. As a software developer myself, I've found this to be true on many occasions over the past 25 plus years of doing the software developing gig.

Just some advise from an 'old-timer', 'stick to the priorities and everything else will fall into place'.

Come on guys its a Beta Rom! by definition its not finished yet! Of course Sleipner is more stable it is a finished Rom and has been around longer than CM9 its more mature and not to mention it is based off of GB and I think GB is still the best base to use if you want rock soild stability. Be happy there is someone taking there time out of there day to bring us this nice Rom. Also he is working on Giving us JB,too. He is getting there just wait.

Althought the current Rom is alittle slower than 6-26-2013 build. Can you put that one back up phenomx4?

I for one appreciate the work that the "Devs" put into this Rom, they unselfishly work hard on it every day without complaint......everything will be straightened out in due course, of that I have no doubt!!!!
Thank you all once again!!!

Putting the CPU at 460min and 1209max on performance fixes my lag issues and might fix others. Haven't had any really bad lagging like before.
It might drain battery quickly, but it works.
Also this is optional but wipe cache and dalvik in recovery.

Lag work arounds....
1. Adjust your clock speeds
2. Disable all animations
3. A cache cleaner with a scheduler(ics caches way more especially the browser)
4. Be mindful of excessive background data apps
5. Turn off sync

There's probably more that I'm.not remembering.

The lag could be memory related. I'm trying out a few things. Camera still not showing preview.

Thanks I will give that a go. Got mine at 1.8 but clocking it down should help battery
By the way anybody ever try Greenify? It suppose to Hiberenate you apps after a while to save battery and improve perfomance. I use it and it seems to be doing something. That and when you hold down you home button those apps that come up are not just recent apps they are also in the Ram. Swiping some of them away helps perfomance. Also give AutoRun Manager a go too blocking startup receivers help stop those stubborn apps from starting up at startup and staying in Ram like Pandora. Only thing that needs improvement in this Rom performance wise is Mutitasking which is something Andriod loves to do. Might want to look at that guys.

Found a camera app that gives somewhat of a preview. Here's, the preview and snapshot. First picture for the OE with CM9. Not the best though.
