Functionally it's the same kernel, but I've made it with a different compiler. Among other things, Linaro maintains a very efficient and cutting edge gcc, so more efficiencies/optimizations that have been discovered over time are implemented. The best benefits come from switching on code optimization, but I've only run it through the size optimization. Even still I'm seeing better I/O and as such load times seem to be better. There's debate on how much switching toolchains helps, but I'm hopeful I can squeeze some extra speed and stability out of this phone. I haven't had much observation time with it either, but battery drain seems to be slightly lower, managed an extra couple hours.
 
I absolutely love the look and feel, its snappy and very clean, a thousand thank to you and all your helpers, only thing I notice on the 8/30 VM Rom is as my wifi and mobile data no longer turn blue, and play store will not connect should I try to flash gapps again
 
Phenom - Thanks soooo much for all your hard work. Just sent $15 your way, I know it's not much but it's something. Have to say I've been holding off until the camera was fixed since I use it quite often and once I saw you got that figured out I flashed without hesitation. Absolutely loving it!! I don't seem to be having many of the other issues people are running into such as the signal bars not being blue and photos not going into the gallery. Everything appears to be working quite well. Thanks again for all your hard work!!!!
 
Currently using the latest build with the kernel spock1104 uploaded and my phone appears to be running much smoother, though I won't know how well it truly runs until after a week or so.

First time I've tried the video camera and it doesn't appear to work on the 8 23 build. The menu works, the button illuminates the outer ring to show it was pressed but it doesn't actually start recording. Tried resetting camera settings to default, internal storage and SD storage.
 
i've noticed with both the 8/23 and 8/30 builds the radio seems to be a bit wonky.

it switches from blue to grey as some people have noted. when the wi-fi and radio/antenna are grey i can't use wi-fi or data. i have to restart wifi and then the wi-fi and radio turn blue and are functional again.

also still showing my signal strength less than what it usually is. it's typically one bar lower than what i'm used to seeing wherever i go.

is this related to the known data issues with OE? or is it something new?

I know what's going with the signal issue and it will be fixed and am looking at the wifi issue now.
 
Thanks for your hard work, Phenom! I'd never rooted/flashed anything before now, but this inspired me to give it a go. My somewhat-eh phone is a wee beasty now :D
 
Thanks for the update.

The gamil issue with the blank page can be annoying. I notice if you kill the app then load it up again it typically works. I enabled killing apps on long press from the dev options.

I'm confused about this bug. How is it stuck on 1x but give 3G speeds?

I'm not sure but radio logs and posts in other device forums had a similar issue eg epic 4g etc. They found the issue for them was in the CM Src and the ril so its just a matter of tracking it.
