Root [ROM][4.1.2]AWE Inspired Moonshine White/Ginger V2.9a Final[Works with stock device]

I think we need to have some tutorials on adb and terminal emulator. It'd make things a lot easier for people and its more hands on and not just point and click. I think understanding how/why is just as important as the result. :D

I found the root explorer button and granted superuser permission. Now it's telling me it is a read only file system.

Nahhh bro.....I use ES too, I think it's great. Just go back to where you enabled root explorer option and click away from the ON button, like over the word root...... It'll bring another menu up with an option down the list that says Mount R/W ........click it and I just mount all as read and write....

There's apps all over that'll allow moving of apps to system/app, one is apps2Rom. Like others have already said you can delete whatever the hell you want with ES file explorer. I highly recommending keeping titanium backup however. I think it should be a default to every modded phone, gives you warnings and makes it real easy to delete bloat/unwanted apps and their data and buncha other stuff.

i cant get apps 2 rom to move some aps like i can on my tablet whitch is jb 4.1.1 and my other phone is gb

Some apps require libs to be extracted to add as system app, its best to learn the manual method :) Hence starkravings informative guide, also there isnt really a need to really that unless cooking into rom

its strange the same app on two diferent devices same op but one devive will alow it other wont i installed busy box and now i can use app2 rom and every thing works

What I'm finding strange is how all the new GApps are tied to play services...Google...I'll be watching you... Watching me...wait...well you get it. :p

This is y the black version has an older play services, google somehow knows when a gapp is modified...thats y gmail fc

No you need the files from

/system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima
/system/lib/modules/prima
/system/lib/wlan.ko

In their respective locations

I'm finding the wlan.ko in the ..../modules/prima location. So Is it just the top two paths you listed, because I'm not seeing any wlan.ko in just system/lib?

Which leads one to believe (like the GNL) all the new gapps will be closed source or at least tied to play services which can somehow tell if an apk has been modified.

I'm with you. I'm no fan of being watched by big brother. Nor am I a fan of buying a device only to be told I have to use their software, otherwise repercussions can fall on me. It's almost like they're saying I don't own the device I paid for. I really do appreciate what you guys are doing with the ROM and everything. You're keeping it open source and fully customizable.

You think android itself might be starting to go towards being closed source?

Only time will tell, even if it does there will b ways around there security measures lol, i found that out with console modding. Their idea is so u have to get the software through them, there will always be modding so y waste billions of dollars lol

No problem thanks for using it:), if u find any bugs let us know

Well for those who don't know Cyanogen and the core team were given a angel investment and will be building a commercial version of CM...That being said the Google launcher is closed source...the camera, keyboard and gmail (all released in the last 45 days) are functionally connected to play services... My personal opinion is "android" will remain open source but GApps will become a walled garden...sounds conspiracy theory like I know ... However CM has always had a core functionality... It operates without Google... Hmm...lol.

To clarify the Black rom FC issues here's the steps from TeamBlackOut's FAQ...

Q: "Man I love your stuff but why is themed Gmail and Chrome force closing all of a sudden, but when I install the stock ones they work fine?"

A: Google updated play services aka "Google Settings" that has some new code that these apps use. Somewhere in coding these apps to theme, either our tools or a process we used to build them has a conflict in Google's new code. We have many of our own developers as well as the entire XDA theme community working on a fix. For now just uninstall updates to play services and roll back to the latest working version using these steps:

Uninstall updates:
Menu/Settings/Apps/Downloaded"tab"/Google Play services - Uninstall updates then hit yes to using factory version
"Note: if the option to uninstall is greyed out you must turn off the administrative settings in Menu/Settings/Security/Device Administrators then uncheck Android Device Manager"

Once that's done if you don't have root just reboot and install this:

GoogleSettings4.2.43.apk

If you have root backup first then flash this:

StockGoogleSettings-4.2.43.zip

@dragonheart.... So apparently I can't just extract the Rom and drop those Wi-Fi driver files into place and compress it again and make it work. I tried several different times with different compression rates and something broke. I guess I'll have to until a stable kernel is cooked up. I was just stoked to use an overclock on this Rom. It's all good I can wait, rather have the good stuff anyhow :-)

OK. I restarted my phone for the first time after removing the launchers and installing apex launcher. Note my notification bar shows nothing at the top, it's just blank. If you drag it down it works, but I don't see my battery percentage or anything. I'm lost.

Edit: it comes back after placing a call. Weird.

I have having a problem as windows xp does not show the n800 ad being a device. I think that I must not have the correct drivers, I used pdanet. Also this is just a wish, will someone post some screen shots of the different apps. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Update to vista at the least. They are newer drivers and aren't guaranteed to work on xp since its older. You could even just use a windows vista or 7 trial and it would work.

So the awe should show up if I do it on a windows 7 computer? Also please explain the command prompt part, I didn't understand the instructions. Sorry, I am really new at this, but I want to learn.

The instructions in the AWEsome Rom thread should outline it a lil better for you if you have trouble

This a bug due to center clock only happens on reboot all is fine once a notification is received:)
