Root [ROM][4.1.2]AWE Inspired Moonshine White/Ginger V2.9a Final[Works with stock device]

White ROM and using the latest hangouts to text.

Ah ok.

Yup its hangouts. If it really bothers you, you can use Google voice for now. It works just as goods for sending texts but you will be sending them from your Google voice number. Nothing can be done till next hangouts update. Hopefully.

went a full day with status bar working, then i installed a bunch of new apps tonight and broke it again. lol. but i found a quick fix to restore it whenever it stops working, so no biggie.

OK. So I love the rom. Can these 2 things be fixed in the next release for the black version? Airplane mode and newest Google play services with newest hangouts :-)

Nah I'm fine. Like I said it just tiny bit annoying but I'll live with it cause sometimes I don't even notice it.

Guess it either my phone or router; but I keep getting wi-fi dropping or turning off completely at home (where I have crappy cell coverage), even with wi-fi fixer running.

Gonna try a re-flash & see what happens...

I was wondering what features have been worked on/are being worked on for the next release?

heres a peak:) at one better lock layout with fixed next alarm

for what its worth i was able to sideload AWEsome Rom 1.1 and i was able to get past the phone activation. thankfully the home button worked in that rom... not sure whats different between the two roms but just wanted to mention it in case this one could be updated down the road to allow the same activation bypass :)

There's an extreme amount of difference as far as appearance and option features. The AWEsome Rom has the ability to overclock to 1.8 ghz, but it's not entirely 100% stable. I think it's stable enough for me, enough to have tried to get the kernel working with this Rom. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Anyhow, if you're wanting a more feature rich Rom, go with this one, If not then that one is cool. Not sure why you can't get pass activation, home button generally allows enough time to get into options and set airplane mode on.

Just got a new idea, I'll be back with results.

Edit:
Mmmmkay, so I'm a *bleepin* genius:rolleyes: I have excellent ways of complicating things far, FAR past their simplicity. I got it now, if anyone would like the black version of this Rom with overclock capabilities and working Wi-Fi!
...It runs beautifully...

I'd like to get back to updating AWEsome asap, but baby has me completely tied up. Next release will be of stock kernel with a flashable zip to overclock if wanted (for compatible devices.) I already have the zip done for that and it will also replace the WiFi modules to work properly with it as it will break with the stock module. Not much in the way if aesthetic changes except for maybe ripping the lock screen from this one, so long as its permitted. May seem a little scummy, but I just don't have the time atm.
I'm not sure what all was changed that messes with the activation screen on here. Could be any number of things. Possibly the updated stock release incorporated, whereas AWEsome is still based off the original/factory/oob system. I haven't had a chance to compare them too much from an internal perspective since the updates.
All in all, both roms are pretty equal in terms of usability and "coolness". AWEsome is just a simplified mod for those who like their phone the way it was with a little less annoying ZTE/Virgin addons, but the kernel issue turns a lot of people off til its fixed. CM-Like has all the pretty bells and whistles for those who want them, but the updates can get wonky due to the extra mods. Its totally up to the user what they prefer, but both are worth a fair shot.

I personally think the biggest issue with our roms for this device in general is our recoveries. They're slow, problematic in formatting and or clearing partitions. Example formated system and still had residual apps from a previous flash. I think we need to pull resources and work on a better recovery. As far as our updates getting "wonky" I'm not sure what you mean.

I agree with starkraving our device has a sketchy recovery that formats when it feels like it, all of the issues with me and chris's rom have been due to this. besides the black version which is google fault lol, toggles in tabbed settings and blank status bar before first notification, this being said our rom is as stable as a stock device

The tabbed settings switch button issue just to be fair is a mod/device wide issue. Its not just specific to this ROM. As far as the blank status bar, snap a screen shot and it toggles it ;). As mentioned before both roms are a better alternative to ZTE/Virgin bloatware. While at this point its safe to say they're not comparable anymore at all in terms of options and cosmetics. Its completely apples and oranges. One is a deodexed/debloated stock ROM with the OC Kernel. One is deodexed, debloated, stock kernel(both cores enabled by default), initd support, most of the most popular AOSP/CM(10) mods for 4.1.2, removal/editing of deprecated Gingerbread code and images, the elimination of ZTE code...one piece at a time...as stated both are better choices over stock. So pick your poison. :D

**Edit**
On a development note work on the Black version will cease until there's a permanent fix for play service authentication/update issue we're having with some (not all) heavily modified GApps. When/if this issue is resolved updates will continue.

I didnt mean wonky as in broken, I meant as in have a habit of not working as intended. Your work has really pushed the capabilities of the android system to show whats possible in terms total overhaul of look and feel. Its truly awesome how far you two have taken this rom so far and I know itll only get better ^_^

As far as not working as intended what exactly do u mean?? I think a unstable kernel thats causes reboots and with certain devices bootloops is "wonky"

Yeah thanks to the latest updates to GApps, anything modded (and I mean ANYTHING) to the app will cause the authentication problem. Using a previous version of them without allowing updates is plausible, but stopping it from updating (and of course it working in the first place) would be necessary to fix the issue at this time

No doubt. I was referring to the issues others had posted between the two versions. I'm not saying theyre NOT working, but appear to be...off(?) for some users. Maybe I didnt read their reports right. Idk, I just woke up, excuse me lol.
Like I said I will be working on that issue when I get the chance, its just not in the cards at this moment. I dont have enough experience editing the kernel to totally fix whatever rb and cdz did. Looking at the git makes my head spin lol. Then again, I didnt have any previous experience doing what I did so far to AWEsome (as in small edits/removal of some code, deodexing) so I guess I'll have to get on the ball.
I wish I knew more about recoveries as well to figure that out too. Its all in the research I suppose...

Theres some sort of authentication/SIG check that's borking everything

Ok i thought u ment in general wonky, the issues ppl are having are recovery related with exception of black version which is foogle related lol

this one was my first choice, only i could never get past the activation. the phone was stock, i tested it out on stock and was able to get past the activation by pressing the home button. next i went about trying to get this rom on it but after flashing and rebooting, home button didnt work. a couple pages back i noted my issues.

when i said i'm not sure what the differences are i meant just in regards to the home button. with stock and AWEsome Rom i could bypass activation with just pressing the home button, but with this one it seemed like the home button was disabled or something.
