You know what? I remember a ways back, that Un1ocked somehow flashed the Verizon Lucid ICS firmware to his Connect and it actually booted up I think it also came with some major headaches trying to get that firmware off of the phone afterwards..... I myself had thought of trying that at one point.

Thats how i got this build to boot with the vs840 and it booted only problem was icons and everything were misplaced but this is when it was in a pre alpha state

So do it again. And what do you mean by misplaced? Like screen rez or LCD density is off?

Alright. But when I go in and llook at the apn file from vv5, it pretty much just blank code. It just says nothing.

Density was off because they were porting from spectrum so both screen rez and density ill try later to see what happens that is if i dont forget and i have to delete the first line of code that causes a status 7 error

I wish I could look myself. Seeing as I had VV5 on my Connect long before MetroPCS was pushing it, I may/may not have the updated apns-conf.xml - On my Premia that I use now, the apns-conf.xml looks a bit different and has T-Mobile splattered all over it. Not sure if network protocol/values changed much, if any but who knows.

I'll look at the XML on my Connect when I get home. I know that when I looked at the CM10 XML there was indeed some APNs listed, and the three that were required at the time were in there alongside many others LOL.

Maybe we can get Zandersig to upload the apns-conf.xml from his phone and try pasting that. Or we can try the xml from my Premia?

I'm pretty sure that the apn-config file woulf be the same for all phones so a copy would work.

so, this is what i've done... I installed #number two (rom) then installed ( VV5 Baseband/firmware) from here (http://androidforums.com/connect-4g-all-things-root/751012-vv5-firmware-baseband-stock-rooted.html)... after that I decided to install cmod 10 (alpha)... then i received no signal whatsoever... so decided to go back to cwm and install (vv5 baseband/firmware) . and then after two minutes later... i received a signal but no 4g ! I can make calls and text... but thats pretty much it... nevertheless, the signal keeps going up and down.....

but when i make a call i get good signal, then it shows, when i dragged down my notification bar ( that its metropcs) then when i hang up it goes away!

and that's my lastest status of what happening with my phone... maybe you guys can use this in good use! or something to fix this!

i decided to reboot my phone.. and now.. it took about two minute to get a signal! nevertheless, put it under wifi! now metropcs stays on notification and signal doesn't go up or down. it just stays steady ... but as soon as i disconnect from wifi i losse signal but gain it back when i call or text! ...

I just thought of something... As I have lost home internet, and have resorted, to things...

Anyways... I do know MetroPCS blocks user agents, specially things that don't have mobile statements in them. So possibly if the user agent in CM might be getting rejected (I doubt it, but worth a check)?

This wouldn't be the case if you cant connect to the internet another way... Like via the gmail app or something... As MPCS is only filtering user agents, for Firefox/IE... (I was able to play do windows updates, and play a MMO for a brief short time... Was not blocked when I did that)

The user agent crap for the LG Connect 4G is as follows...

PlayfulGod got this ROM to about 95% functional. Only issues left to fix are in the radio department. 4G and 1x will not work. If you are in a Metro area that actually has 3G coverage, it will work only in 3G signal area, but will display 1x.

This ROM is pretty much the same base as the VS840 Lucid CM10, and their data works fine. My guess would be something awry in the RIL department. I had an idea, was going to try pulling some files from my LG Motion or my Premia to see if swapping those radio/prop files out magically made data work. Unfortunately, time just didn't allow, and I have since moved on and bought a new phone cuz I got sick of Gingerbread.

If one has the time or the patience, this ROM could come to life. The answer/fix is probably right here in AF, or perhaps somewhere on XDA dev site. Fix may only involve a prop file edit. You're Android knowledge will go further only with taking chances, some experimentation and some online studying....

Anyone know of any better roms than just the 5 listed on the root main page?

No, there isn't, only CM10. Only for MS840/VS840 Lucid, and the only CM9 out there was a project for the LS840 Viper that has been abandoned for some time now. You're stuck with Gingerbread.

If some of you folks want to toss a few bucks over my way for a month of 4G service on my Connect, I'll try a few ideas I have to get 4G going. I may be able to get data going. I don't care if I brick it either, as I have no plans on ever using it again. Just throwing that out there if anybody is interested

Winter means tight budget for me but I'll pitch in the time for it. And keep in mind that there is no guarantee of success...

Not sure how much longer I will be using this phone. I am already pretty much certain when I can my next phone will definitely be the Nexus 5. Since I am unsure when that will happen, I will keep using this phone until I am either kicked off the network or until I obtain the Nexus 5.

Not sure how much longer I will be using this phone. I am already pretty much certain when I can my next phone will definitely be the Nexus 5. Since I am unsure when that will happen, I will keep using this phone until I am either kicked off the network or until I obtain the Nexus 5.
