Root [ROM][ALPHA] Quattrimus ICS

I know, I've never bricked a phone either. Only ever used lgnpst to downgrade my marquee to root it. Anyone who had bricked more than one phone seriously needs to reconsider what they are doing and whether to root at all.

I hope those of you that brick phones don't get warranty replacements (but I know better). This only gives carriers more incentive to demand that the manufacturers fix all known exploits. And then we end up with zvc.

I don't get how people get to brick phones. I being rooting phones for almost three years the easy way and the hard way, and never bricked a phone.

This was my first smart phone ever and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing when trying to root the first 2 marquees. 3rd time was a charm I guess :screwy: although I messed up my first few computers messing with them too.... I like messing with technology too much :p

Fortunately I've never bricked yet either, mine was due to their wonderful zv9 bug of the dialer freezing in call. They replaced it and the second one (this one) did the same thing until the zvc update.

When people root the most important rule is to read every step not once nor twice but more times to be sure what to do and what to expect next, and not to panic when something goes wrong. As well when changing any thing on the phone after rooting such as removing apps or flashing roms. Another important step after rooting is having a backup of course if there is cwm available for the phone that is being rooted.

My only replacement was due to hardware failure (radio). No bricks tho, still booted and everything

Thanks but it wouldn't install.

@tdm - The aokp base mms.apk that has the google user agent works sending/receiving mms for me on the AS855. The one that is patched during install does not.

This appears to be the same with the CM9 build.

Seriously? That's so funny, in a ROFL kind of way ... the generic base Mms.apk package has no custom configuration (overlay) at all, it's straight Google.

I didn't override userAgent or uaProfUrl. It's probably uaProfTagName that's causing problems. There aren't many other settings that could possibly matter. I'll remove uaProfTagName for the next build and we'll see what happens.

I have bricked this phone twice, brick 3 kindle fires, 2 optimus V's and 2 Samsung intercepts, the one thing I learned always make a backup.

Never bricked a phone. The only way it seems u can brick a phone is if you flash a ro. For another phone, or mess with trying to flash it your self. Which i do none of these, only use supported rom by trusted developers, happens to be those in these threads, monster, tdm, bloodawn, to name a few. Thank you. So long as you follow these steps as listed u will be fine. Have fried batteries tho... no biggie stock battery sux any wayz. Haa have fun yall.
Of all the boost phones i have, never bricked 1. First marquee.

I never bricked one either, (knocking on wood) thanks to the fine developers here and helpful people on these forums. Took one back because I had dust behind the screen and it overheating. Got the lemon replacement then upgraded phone. I was going to turn it back in for the HTC evo but was going to wait for a better one. I know before my warranty ends I will either have a newer marquee or an updated boost phone. But I would probably get which ever phones the devs get here since they always work magic. :

Yup thats how i ended up witb the marquee from the prevail. Almost got the warp for my self. That would have been bad, great phone but not much support. Most stable rom i found for it is noobiv. But have to say its gettin there. And the more i learn the better. Start developing my self. 1 step at a time. Thank u all. Any 1 try the aokp very snappy and stable. Haha way to go had to flash back to ct mod for work purposes. But awesome.

Listen bricking phones happens. It happens to the best. I'm sure our awesome devs have bricked a few themselves. Sometimes a bad flash can cause a brick(the cause of most of my bricks). Getting stuck in fastboot mode(my kindle fire brick). Or flashing an improperly named rom( Samsung intercept). It happens unfortunately, and it will happen to you one way or the other. But as long as you make a back up it will only be a soft brick. Unless you accidentally wipe your custom recovery lol( optimus v).

The first 2 I had were hardware errors and bricked after they bounced off the wall, lol. The third was my fault downgrading without being careful and did something wrong, don't remember what now, and I'm on my fourth. I still have my original prevail and I soft bricked it just experimenting and odin'd it back numerous times. My problems have never been with the Roms and my one true hard brick was user error on my part. The worst brick I've ever done was trying to downgrade my girlfriends droid 2 right after they did the .621 or something update and I bricked the piss out of it.

I have looked over this thread a few times and I haven't found the answer I have been looking for. Then again I am tired so I may have over looked it.

Is there a way I can get the standard google applications (Play Store, Maps, Youtube, Gmail, Voice, Etc...) installed on here?

Other then that this seems to be a pretty good build so far. At least there is a group of people that are making ICS for this good phone. Keep up the good work.

Yes, flash gapps. Find it at goo.im/gapps. Use the ics version. The current version for ics should be 20120429.

Apparently Goo.im died again or something because I can't download the Gapps from my phone or my computer either one. It says an error has occured: number 1030 got error from storage engine.
Edit: yep, it's down again because I can't get anything from it.

Awesome thanks. Was exactly what I needed . Haha now I'm usin this so far all day and not a hitch cept for known issues.. ha y'all are awesome.

Spent about 5 hours on 3G today, taking the kids to the zoo. Didn't use the phone hardly at all. Drained the battery pretty fast, maybe 15% or a bit more per hour. Don't know if this is due to my apps syncing too often or what but that really sucks. I am wondering if the cell radio is not very efficient...?

Did you end up figuring this out?

Does any one know how to get rid of the data usage warning?

Edit: Alright so after some research I found that to disable the warning you have to go the phone setting but in this version of ICS there is no option to change it hopefully in the next release this could be added.

Hey TDM.

I am not one to play with Alpha's or Beta's. However I must admit this is proving to be a sweet OS for this phone. It takes a bit to get use to. However for a pre-beta it runs really well for the most part. Keep up the good work.
