Root [ROM] Android 2.2 FroYo - Brought to you by MDW (OC & Flash 10.1!)

I thought that with this update we would be able to go to flash game sites and play games but that is not happening here. I downloaded the flash player apk which ran as a txt file but I still do not have access to any flash content online. Any thoughts here?

Ran as a text file?! Idk what that means, but it doesn't sound right. You need to install it with package manager. Then you'll be able to view flash content. Also, make sure under settings, applications, you've checked the box to allow non market sources.

What are the "Improvements" in the market app that were hyped (besides auto update)? Are there any? They said there would be a much nicer interface to the market now.

Did you install the apk? You need to put it on your SD card as an APK, then use a file manager to install (I use Astro File manager)...

Please note, that not ALL games on ALL sites will work. I read a while back that they still need to be converted for Flash 10.1 mobile...Just FYI

I was playing Kitten Cannon (long time favorite :D) at Addicting Games...worked just fine. Tried Stick Figure Sniper (or something like that) and the controls didn't seem to be "touch screen friendly".

Anyone else having issues with SETCPU? I installed the 1.1 overclock kernal. WIFI works, but when I go in setCPU it is set at a max of 600mhz and min of 250 and wont let me modify it.
Did u use the sp recovery method? If so, did u make sure to use the 2nd download for root? Check to see if you have the su app.

It keeps saying no access to root. Other root apps are working fine. Any ideas?

Sounds like you used SPR to install the Nandroid. You will need an additional file you need to install as an update.zip. After you do that, then install the kernel of your choice (that's how I did it anyway...)

This is listed in the OP, but : update.zip

Benched on 2.1 before the switchover and hit 518, got Froyo up and running now at 1ghz and hit 1449. Good stuff, no problems here yet!! :D

Right, the games that work well have been coded to use touch screen functions with Flash 10.1 mobile...

I can't recall where I saw it, but people may want to check the N1 forum here. There was a thread of Flash 10.1 Mobile specific game sites...I'm not positive if I saw it here or elsewhere though...

Well you needed a physical keyboard to play it as the directional pad (up/down) aimed the cannon...and the spacebar was the only thing I could find that would work to fire the cannon.

Nice to have a physical keyboard! :)

Yes, a text file.. In your op there is the link to download the apk. When I finally download the file it is called adobe_flash_player_10-2.txt

I got the .txt file too, go into Astro and rename the .txt to .apk and install. Works fine for me, got Hulu working too.

the file should be called : adobe flash player 10.1_10.1.61.68.apk
Copy it to your sd card, use astro file manager to install it.

Make sure you are allowing unsigned code in your application settings.

Initial boot takes quite a while.

After signing into google with the setup wizard it never took me to the sync screen. Kept starting over and saying my email was already set up on this phone. Had to just skip everything and email did sync, but apps didn't automatically reload.

Lagged verrry badly. First thing I did was download Rom Manager again and reboot to recovery and installed the 1.2 kernel. Everything became buttery smooth after the reboot and new kernel. Though it still slows down from time to time (its only been about an hour)

Other than that the only problem I have encountered is that Pandora won't download from the Market..I think I have a backup so I will try restoring that. The download gets to 100% but it never starts the install, after a reboot the notification appears that the download was unsuccessful.

Currently I am getting 160 short benchmarks consistently and 18-19 mflops.

Works for me. Did you restore a backup or something? I downloaded it from the market.

App auto downloaded from the market. I did restore my data so I had my tags back though.

I just restored to BB1.1. I ran it all day it's a little to wonky for my liking. I can't wait for a proper build though. I'm excited.

I also ran a before and after test on that javascript site they used at Google I/O. Didn't see anywhere near the speed increase they demoed. Speed was about the same as 2.1 actually. Maybe a proper build will fix that.

man I was gone for the day. This thread really blew up. I dont think I have even touched the tip of the iceberg yet

Ugh, I blame mediafire. Try datsyuk's method. I'm thinking the file is downloading fine, just being misnamed for some dumb reason.

God.. I did not click the 'now you have froyo what about flash' link. I clicked a link you were hosting

Major issue - I can't boot into recovery. At all. Tried 2 different methods, and the Moto logo sits there for about 2-2.5 minutes, then the screen flashes, Moto Logo again, and then it just boots normally.

*sigh* - I'm glad I am a techie. I'd hate for a n00b to be getting all this sh*t.

EDIT: Added the following:

OK, I just tried using ADB to reboot it into recovery. Still no go.

WTF???

Where is the apps2sd option? I don't see it anywhere..

Under settings, applications, manage applications. Only very, very few apps currently support this, as the dev has to implement it in an update.

I thought there was a setting to automatically download apps to the sd card..each one is done manually?

Anybody else having problems downloading some apps from the market? Pandora won't work at all for me.

edit: spare parts won't install either, should I wipe and reinstall the ROM?

Perhaps. You didn't wipe the first time?

I've installed both those apps successfully...
