Root [ROM] Android 2.2 FroYo - Brought to you by MDW (OC & Flash 10.1!)

I'm not having any problems with the stock launcher, and it's quick now that my phone has been up a while (was slow at first). I can see why people like launcher pro though...May try it out later...

UBR, I know it's second hand info from me, but it seems to work...I'm noticing many on DF that are having the same problems and the same results by doing what was mentioned...If you have edit pwr, you may want to throw that on to the end of the OP, or maybe Fab will do it if he's still up...

Makes no sense to me either btw...Maybe most have an older version of CW that doesn't work with this? I have no idea...

I am still up, and I did do it ;)

Anybody explain this in lamens terms I dont understand all this kernel, sp, clockwork jargon.

IF it doesn't make sense to you, you probably don't have the problem.

If you are rooted and running ROM Manager to manage your ROMS/backups, then you could have this issue.

Roughly:

Kernels = code that determines how fast the phone runs - sets the available speeds of the CPU.

SPRecovery = tool that allows you to backup and restore copies of your phone's operating system...you can also restore copies of other peoples' phone setup.

Clockwork Recovery = Same idea as SPRecovery, just from a different developer.

ROM Manager = App that allows you to load ROMs and kernels, change which recovery program you're using, launch into REcovery to do backups, load ROMs, etc.

Installed perfectly. No issues. Running at 1.1, linpack returns 17+...
Skyfire seems a bit choppy and the launcher lags initially. Gonna DL launcherpro. Also need to see if HTC_IME works.

Thanks to all involved. This is an amazing community!

Good idea - but I want sound and vibrate off, just LED notification. In class I like to have my phone on the desktop but completely unobstrusive, as I like to use the Calculator in various classes as well as some other apps - I sometimes fail to loo at the notification bar, but will always see the LEDs - without the super jumbo 12" schlong vibrator noise when the vibration goes off and it is sitting on my desk.

If you want sound and vibrate off, then the Beautiful Widgets silence widget will do that...funny, as the thing I didn't like about the BW silence widget was that I couldn't keep vibrate on. :)

Launcher Pro is already in there - if it hasn't asked you to switch home when you first press the home button, I think you're running someone's different ROM.

But the original FroYo for DROID dump contains LP already in the ROM.

Has anyone removed visual vm yet. and would you like to share the filename with me so I can because I don't use it. :) First thing I did was remove amazon mp3 the same way just don't know the filename to do it for vvm

So which kernel is the actual 1.25ghz?

Doesn't exist, apparently. 1.2 will have to do :p

There's a fixed HTC_IME for 2.2 over at xda. It lacks the voice recognition though, and will FC if you slide out the keyboard (it was built for the N1)

I got my file this morning at 9am sharp, so maybe I have a different version? Mine didn't come with LP.

LOL...

Fab, I tried to edit you post to add the CW Recovery fix info and it seems I was too slow to write up my description as someone beat me to it...I'll let you edit your OP as you see fit :)

aha, I took some of your wording and combined it with my original, shabby instructions. I think they're good now :)

Gotta get some shut-eye. You guys hold down the fort :D

Umm, Oh, then LP may have auto installed on my phone as soon as it booted? Hard to believe that it was that fast, but hell, it may have been.

My bad.

Yeah, I had it sync via the market too but then I recovered a previous version (quick way to get a little piece of the NexTheme on my phone ;)).

I'm off to bed too...good night all!

Make sure you go to SetCPU menu, then Device Selection, then "auto detect". Works fine for me...
Im having a similar problem, im being limited to 800 myself. I tried everything i can think of, but no matter what im stuck on 800. Ive tried 3 different kernals and it limits me to 800 and my wifi is still broken on each of them. as well:confused:

Hmm...strange...

What recovery are you using? I use SPR, so I used that to install the rom and the update.zip...

Make sure if you are using SPR, you apply the root update FIRST before applying the new kernel...That is my only thought...

Asked this earlier and didn't get a response, thought I'd try again:

Anyone know how to turn off the standard swipe to unlock screen when the PIN lock feature is enabled?

I'm using the new PIN lock and am getting BOTH lock screens, the standard swipe lock screen and the PIN lock screen...on all other ROMS I've run when you enable the pattern or PIN lock options the standard lock screen automatically goes away...

Appreciate any suggestions, can't find a setting to turn off the standard lock screen...

Are you sure the kernel installed properly? If you installed it through ROM Manager, make sure you verify that it installed before rebooting. I tried twice to install a kernel using the "Install ROM from SD Card" and it failed each time. I had to reboot into recovery and install the zip from the actual recovery (not ROM manager)...Make sense?

From the VERY little I have read on the subject, the PIN screen is meant to be an addition to the standard lock screen. This was to appease corporate users I think. I have not seen anyone mention anywhere a way to do one or the other and I have been monitoring several websites all day regarding 2.2 on Droid. That is not to say it doesn't exist, but I have seen no mention...

AFAIK...the pin works in addition to the swipe screen (from my experience now as well as videos I've seen released in the last few days showing off 2.2 on the Droid).

Haha...dmodert66 beat me to it! :)

Does same here for me as well. Same with password. Lock Screen (pattern) does not.

Helix2? Have you tried LauncherPro?

Yep. And adw as well. Until the bottom dock is customizable, I'm just not interested.

Unfortunately, the many great things I've found with froyo are outweighed by a few things that are broken for the time being. Until they are fixed, its back to CM for me. :/
