Root [ROM][AOSP]LOTK's Deck's ReLoaded .500 Philo RLS

Did you partition it in recovery or on your computer?
On my computer. Then I did it on the phone which seemed to open up the FAT partition to Android.

Force fed my Outlook Folders into CompanionLink, but that's another topic.

I just feel it is one boulder to the head after another. But the results rock as before I was unpartitioned on RC1. I took your advice and used 2048MB size.

So far, so good. Thanks.

I keep reading over there on xda for the final. I am still on the rc1 .500...just waiting....all is working for me now and don't have the patience to flash rc3 right now. lol...
Glad it is working for ya!
If you need anything else, just holler! We'll be here :D

RC3 has several enhancements so it is almost like a different system, or at least a thoroughly revised one. The difference is substantial.

wiping dalvik cache and cache and then flashing a rom should only be done if you are updating the rom. if you are coming straight from another rom i would recommend that you do a full wipe.

and i did forget to recommend superwipe so thanx:D

Yup, what I'm speaking of is wiping all data and cache, but leaving the sdext untouched so that when you start up your new rom, as long as it has a2sd, your apps will be there upon first boot. You still have to restore app data with TB.

How does one accomplish this and what is the likely range of gain in memory recovered?
In terminal emulator type:
Code:
 su
a2sd cachesd

The memory gain will vary, but mine was quite a bit...don't remember what is was but for some folks it creates some kind of issues....if that is the case then move dalvik cache back to internal memory with this command in TE:

Code:
su
a2sd nocache

or: (this will move it back to internal and wipe the dalvik cache)
Code:
su
a2sd nocachereset

See this for more info on TE commands for DTa2sd:

And if your internal memory is still low, you can alternatively move dalvik cache, to the cache partition, opening up internal memory. But then the question remains if internal memory is used for apps, and dalvik cache, and those are both moved, what is the internal memory for then?

Edit: this was in case you have problems with dalvik on SD, then you could move it to cache to keep internal memory up.

Thanks, more to study and learn.

I guess I also would like to know how to assess partitioning success if one cannot view the partition nor its contents?
Well, in Titanium Backup, you will be able to see the sd-ext memory..

At the bottom is says the a2sd memory...when you install new apps, that memory will decrease or if you move dalvik to sd, that memory will decrease also. That way you know that DTa2sd is working..

It appears as though my internal memory is used up compared to you, any clues.
I am partitioned, etc....

It brought up something about DT, how would I know if apps are running from SD?
It should say something like this:

Apps - [ ] Linked to SD Card.
[ ] No Apps2SD Flag File not found.
[] Programs run from SD card
To run from internal storage, type a2sd remove

Private Apps - [ ] Linked to SD Card.
[ ] No Apps2SD Flag File not found.
[] Private Programs run from SD card
To run from internal storage, type a2sd remove

:D That is only part of what mine spit out....:)

Yep, me too.

Something strange though, my TE app force closes and says session running...had to use the Rom Toolbox version???

Funny thing I just remembered, on the original .44, TE was included, but I restored MY TE so I had 2 of them...I had to delete mine.
Perhaps look in all apps instead of downloaded?

So do you have a session running?
Does it notify you of a session running in your pulldown notifications?

I can find it in manage apps but, its saying 0.00 storage/useage. Its not in the running list.

I think when RLS version comes out I am going to repartition and start fresh, I've had the widgets not loading on reboot since the start. Still love the ROM, so I deal with it. :)

and, I am still on .44, haven't jumped on any of the new updates yet.

Ah gotcha, I don't miss that whole widget/app missing thing since I flashed the .500 release 1. Haven't done rc2 or rc3 now, but waiting, like you, for the RLS to come :)

Damn Mike,

Didn't know u were a mind reader also....:)...Thanks for the info, and answering "all" my questions before I even ask them:p
