Root [ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

Ok well i have a couple questions (1) On the first ApeX rom i was able to OC to 1.3ghz stably with no freezing or random reboots, by using DX/D2 Overclocker. Now on this rom once I attemot to OC to 1.2ghz or above my DX just shuts off. What Are other people using to OC with this rom? (2) Fab your roms have the same gravitational pull on me as LPP does as my launcher. The stock ADW annoyed me so I gave TranQ 3.5 a whirl. Pretty good rom but poweramp had that same scanning folders glitch. I paid good money for the full version of that app so I came right on back to ApeX 1.2 :) I redownloaded everything and have it set the way I want it BUT TranQ 3.5 had a TranQ TOOLBOX (it was awesome) No chance of anything like that being on ApeX huh? JRummy16's Root Tool app for now? I'm just curious because I know you're the man hehe

Also, those of you having troubles getting a gps lock, can you check in your settings, location, and see if you have aGPS and network location enabled as well? Thanks!

All checked. I have done several 5 wipes and reloads and still have GPS issues. When I am outside a building it locks on but as soon as I step inside nothing. My D2 running stock Froyo has no problems even in the basement. I have 5 bars Verizon. Also using Google Nav it restarts my phone after about 10 minutes everytime?

Anyway to go back to stock Froyo until I can get these things sorted out. I was using ROM Manager to back up the original ROM but it failed and continues to fail at everything on my X. I loaded your ROM from SD. Downloaded from this thread.

Is there a more stable ROM I can go to?

Yeah man I'm using the Google Voice search as you described. None of the fixes are working for me.

Its not a show stopper for me as its never worked, but it sure would be a nice to have.

Im wondering if its something server side like you said since its seems to be random. If I have time, maybe I will SBF and try it with everything stock.

FWIW, I'm NOT running the leak and I'm on ApeX version 1.0.
 
hmmm a stable rom? whats not stable about ApeX vs fission? i want an even more stable rom!


edit: are there seperate ROMS for the new kernel/bootloader situation?
 
Fab, two thumbs up on the killer ROM.
One question though, did you remove the cool keyboard from your last REVOlution theme? How can i have it back?
 
First off, I'm loving 1.0.2.2 with REVOlution. You did an awesome job! The only issue i have is that the keyboards aren't black like in 1.0. I saw on Twitter that you can just pull the LatinIME.apk from 1.0 to change it, but it only works for the multi-touch. Will pulling the Swype.apk from 1.0 and installing it in the new one make it black? I have a backup of my old 1.0 setup so i can get it, but i want to know if it would work before restoring 1.0, copying the apk, and restoring 1.0.2.2 back.
 
Apex 1.0.2.2.....WOW....Damn Fast....I normally use LauncherPro but ADW has come along way since I last used it and I dont wanna mess with the speed of this rom.
 
OP says easy switching, my corp email doesnt work correctly with this version of blur email, works flawlessly with the 1.0 rom. i see email.bak in the app folder. just need some guidance on replacing the blur with the old-reliable. terminal uninstall bluremail.apk has file folder not found error. terminal mv command has read only error even after mount system rw. can someone guide me in replacing just the email(s) & engines with the old? thanks!


btw LOVE 1.0.2.2, great work!

I know the solution to this problem, it's because the BlurEmailEngine.apk from 2.3.320 doesn't like 2.3.15.

So you need to extract that file from the 1.0 archive, place it on the sdcard, then in terminal emulator:

su
install BlurEmailEngine.apk

Capitalization matters! :)
 
I cannot login to my AOL account using the Email app in the ROM. If I go to add an account I can enter a password at the login but the sign in name text box is greyed out and I can't enter anything.
 
I used to have 5-10 reboots a day on V1.0. Been using 1.0.2.2 since yesterday afternoon and haven't had a single reboot. Definitely recommend this ROM, Fab is the man.
 
Thanks! I'll let you know if push email still doesnt work on the blur with this rom. I just know that for sure 100% it worked on v1.0 and I wanted to shortcut and just replace the blur with that 1.0 email app.

Just for clarity, I did not find BlurEmailEngine.apk in the v1.0 ROM zip, i did find it in the 1.0 removedapps.zip.
 
I think I'm going to go with APEX V1.0.2.2, this should be the correct on e for 2.2 froyo on the not leaked version. Just making sure my I's and T's are crossed. I seen a couple of screen shot of the REVOlution theme and that's what I want too! But first the rom, question, dev says to format data/cache is that kinda like wiping or should I do that as well?

As for the question, formatting data and cache is equivalent to wiping. Just follow the instructions step by step and you'll be fine.

Sorry about that, I do apologize! This will be my first custom rom so I will read it ten more times just to make sure. just little worried but seems pretty well explained! ohh this is deodexed I do believe I read that. Sorry man just making sure I'm doing right that's all.

But this does give me a chance to ask, what do people prefer for the battery? Do you want me to use the default green battery with 10% increments on it, or should it be circular and green with the percentages inside?

No worries, it's just easier to follow, help, and prevent from one current thread rather than multiple on the same subject. Besides, enough of us are following this thread that if you get in a pinch, you'll have immediate help pretty much 24/7.;)
