Root [ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC2) (6/11/2011)

lol i use shootme, problem is when that message pops up if shoot me is running then its good to go, however, its hard to know when the message will pop up, so far it must seem like im the only one experiencing it, maybe i need to redownload apex and try again :(
 
My hosting is cheap, it will ramp up as there's more people requesting the file (get's cloned on more machines).

An alternative is ROM manager, where it's much faster using Koush's hosting :D


Voided, I've seen Facebook authentication request only once, and that was when I changed my password and the phone needed to be updated. You're the only person I've heard with problems with Facebook, so mayhaps it's a setting/preference on your account?

you are possibly correct, it has to be a setting that is messed up on mine, or someone is trying to hack my facebook... which i dont know why people would do that.. but hey kids will be kids, im an old fart anyway.
hows the toolbox coming? or will you implement one?
 
I just installed this and when I go market from my pc it says I have no Android phones associated with my account. Is this normal? It worked prior to installing this.

I installed this rom a few days ago and just wanted to share how impressed I am with it. I enjoyed the look of GB, but had quite a few apps frozen in an effort to smooth out and speed up the phone. I installed Apex, no problems once I followed the directions and added a couple of needed apps. My phone has never been faster, snappy is the way I would describe it. Been playing with it too much to assess battery usage, but I really think Fabolous has done a great job!

Not sure what all this fuss about CM7 is, not honestly sure what else I would need in a phone/mini computer than what I have right now.
 
I flashed the Apex rom over an sbf'd .340 system (like an idiot I know) completely forgetting to first flash a .596 GB rom.

I can't SBF because I cant access the bootloader anymore. The phone immediately shows the Google logo (no motorola logo).

Am I screwed here? Free BEER to ayone who can help me get this back up and running.

edit: Got it worked out. I was pressing the wrong keys to enter bootloader. Man, it's like I'm a complete noob today.

I have made some flashable .zip files for common Blur apps that people want to restore. Check the following link first to see if I made one for the app you want. If not, then follow the steps below to manually restore Blur. Flashable .zip files here.

I have tried doing this 5 or 6 times and it says no such file found. What am I doing wrong?

Are you replacing APKNAME.apk with the actual name of the app?

I.E. if you restore Blur Home, you copy BlurHome.apk to the root of your SD card, and then you type:

su
sys -rw
cp /sdcard/BlurHome.apk /system/app
chmod 755 /system/app/BlurHome.apk

this is as far as i get before it says no such file or directory
 
Has anyone else had the issue where it shows you have a voice mail in the notification bar that never goes away? I have emptied my mail box but its still there.
 
so i went to go and use one of my gb backup's after using this rom ( stock gb backup) and after restoring my backup just stayed at the google bootlogo for 30 mins and nothing so i am SBFg back to start over but any ideas what i could of did wrong?
 
Was it the White "M" or was it after that when you get to the animated boot image?

In either case, I would recommend removing the battery, unplugging the phone from the computer, booting into recovery, and clearing Data and Cache. It is not unusual for the phone to boot loop after changing ROMs because the app data doesn't match up. Clearing data and cache will clear all that out and make the phone boot fine.

You'll have to restore (or reload) your apps after rebooting.
 
Is there going to be an RC3 or final release soon? I want to check this out, but RC2 has been out for a while, so I'm afraid if I jump in now, RC3 or the final will come out in a day or two and I'll have to do it all over again. :-)

If RC3 or final is weeks out, then I'll probably just try it now...

I went ahead and bit the bullet and flashed it tonight. So far I'm very impressed. Everything's working great so far. LOVE seeing all the blur stuff gone.

My only issue so far: As the original post states, the Google market apps are missing. So, I installed gmail from the market and ran it and that worked great. However, when I installed maps and then ran it, the phone rebooted, and it rebooted into stock recovery (not CW). After choosing reboot from the recovery menu, and trying to load maps again, it seems to be working fine now.
 
Now that I've used it for pretty much a whole day, I've got a couple issues to ask about:

1) Corporate Email. The AOSP Email app works fine with my corporate email. However, there are no formatting options, so all my replies are in a black font and I can't change it. With the Blur Email app, I had some options. I'd like to go back, but from the research I've done so far, it looks like that without some of the Blur framework, there's nothing I can do here. Either live with the AOSP Email, or switch to a blurry ROM, correct?

2) Unread GMail count. I use LauncherPro, and I have the dialer, SMS, and GMail apps on the dock. I also have the unread counts options turned on. With Froyo and GB, rooted or unrooted, all 3 of those icons would update with unread counts if I missed a call, got an SMS, or got an email. Now, with ApeX, if I miss a call, or get an SMS, the unread counts update fine on those icons. But, if I get a new gmail, it never updates. Any ideas?

Overall, I'm still real happy with ApeX. Everything is fast, and my battery is still at 80%, so things are going well so far...
 
I flashed the REVOlution theme over OrangeX and the browser and call icons remained orange. :( Is there a way to fix this? I've tried re-flashing it three times.

You don't need the Blur email client to do formatting options. There are lots of email clients. You could check out K-9, which is free:

I tried K-9, but it will not get past the authentication stage. If I put my user name or password in wrong, it tells me "Invalid User name or password", but if I put it in correctly, it tells me "error during authentication". So, there must be something about my work's Exchange server that K-9 doesn't like or vice versa.

I'm learning to live with the AOSP email client, but it bugs me that I can't format my messages, and it bugs me that when I delete a message after reading it that it goes to the next message in my inbox instead of going back to the inbox.
