Root [ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC2) (6/11/2011)

This ROM is great but I'm having a small issue. I know that RC2 includes the latest version of Superuser that was recently released. The Superuser app in the market also wants to update but fails to install every time I try. I'm just sick of it hanging out saying it needs to update. Suggestions? Thanks!

Just wanted to report, I came from RC1 and followed the instructions to clear both the cache and dalvik before flashing. On reboot, I was stuck on the APEX boot logo for over 5 min.s so I finally did a battery pull and let it boot through again. This time it took just over a minute to boot up and all seems well. So if anyone has this problem on first boot, try a battery pull before you panic and end up doing a factory wipe or SBF.. :D

Ahhh, okay so I wiped cache/dalvik cache because I was coming from RC1, however, I'm stuck at the Apex loading screen in a bootloop. Do I have to sbf back to 2.3.340 in RSD and start from the very beginning?
EDIT: I did do the battery pull.. three times actually. Still nothing. :(

I would wait it out at the boot-up for at least 3 or so minutes. Then I would try a data wipe before resorting to an SBF.

I had the issue of being stuck in the bootloader. I installed RC2 and then it kept looping (even after 5 battery pulls). So then as a last resort I pulled the battery, then held the power and home button to get into the stock recovery, did a format data/cache, restarted the phone... everything worked. Yes I lost my settings, apps, and stuff, but it was still better than having to SBF since I was at work and didn't have access to do so.

Alright, so I did the power and home button and the screen I see has the green android with a triangle and exclamation point. But it doesn't give me an option to format data and cache.. it doesn't give me an option to do anything? Am I missing something?

hold down the volume up and down buttons at the same time. that should bring up all the options. otherwise you only get the green android with the triangle.

Ha yeah, I'm stupid and if I would have read through the entire thread right away, I would have seen that. Data wipe is happening now.......

That worked! Thank you!!

You're welcome. Just trying to pass along some of the knowledge I've learned here trolling the forum :P

For those wanting the 720\CRT off.....i had them before flashing apex. And retained them after the flash. Might be worth a shot. I doubt I'm just special. :)

You may be special, just not because you retained 270/CRT. :p:D
I also retained these mods when flashing RC2 over rooted/modded/.596. I was wondering if they were leftover, or included in ApeX. Now I know, I guess.

I'd like to upgrade to RC2 from RC1, but I am not looking forward to clearing my data again and loosing all my apps, settings, etc, etc, etc again.

Installation Instructions
Meet all the requirements listed at the top of the post
Wipe data/cache, dalvik cache (only wipe cache and dalvik if coming from RC1)
Flash Apex

I don't believe you have to wipe data, if your on RC1.

The reason the first boot takes 5 minutes is because the cache is rebuilding. Just wait it out, don't pull your battery ;-)

I am on RC2 and everything went fine. Made a back up using D2 bootstrap, back up completed and I rebooted system. No stuck on the Google logo.

Any help would be appreciate.

Pulled battery and all is good. Kind of weird

Thanks. I had missed that in the instructions. I had read some people did that and were just fine, but at least one person had an issue (but that very well could have been user error). I'll certainly upgrade if it doesn't mean restoring everything.

Thanks again!

That particular problem is definitely a Gingerbread bug. First off, stop using WEP. It's crackable in about 30 seconds by anyone with a laptop.

WEP works on incorporating the shared key into the encryption, so you need certain length keys - so there are sanity checks on key lengths for any software that joins WEP networks. However, 64-bit WEP is allowed to have a 5 character key but Gingerbread doesn't think that's valid.

In any event, though, switch to WPA. Seriously

Come on now. You're running a custom ROM on your phone. SBF back to FroYo and factory reset (NO APPS INSTALLED), and test your Wifi. I bet it works fine. Then upgrade to Gingerbread and try it.

The reality is, the chance of you actually having a bad radio are slim to none.

I normally use WPA. Only switched to try and get wifi working. Was still a no go in screen shot.

Really?
As much as something may seem impossible, there is always a chance for THE impossible.
The DroidX I'm having issues with is a "certified like new"
I took both my DXs, and sbf'd to .340. Installing no apps, I upgraded both X's to .596 / then ApeX.
Still a no go with the same DX.
My 2nd DX with ApeX connected to wifi the first try.
There is always a chance the unthinkable and unimaginable can happen.
Unfortunately, that's my case, no worries, VZW is overnighting ANOTHER Certified like new DroidX. ;)
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to my issues.
I'm just glad it wasn't an actual issue with ApeX.

As am I. Glad you got your issue resolved :)

Bump on my earlier question. Thanks!

I have gone through a year with my droid x and I was not happy with it at all. It just felt cheap.

Finally today I have rooted and put ApeX rom on my phone. Wow. What a difference this makes. I think a lot more people would like android if it came like this, the way it was meant to be. Not all the extra bloat on it that takes away hugely from the android experience.

Glad I finally discovered this and took the leap.

So how do I get the blur FM Radio app back?
I put the file on my sd card and triend Terminal Emulator but that didn't work. Then someone told me just to flash it. I got into cm and try to flash the. Apk but it doesn't show up?
