Root [ROM]Black Plague w/ Plague kernel

I can't really think of anything else. :( Hm.. Try wiping dalvik cache and cache partition and see if it goes back the normal

I think that link yu gave me is for the Esteem. Maybe that's why it's not working? I'll try wiping if not. Is there a way to bring it back to stock with lg tool?

it helps to pay attention to the section you are in, the file names, and what directory they are in on the url. Only variant of BP that doesnt have the device name in it is the Esteem, which its next release with have esteem in its name, mainly so I know wtf it is on my pc and server(s) as well as lessen any confusion. ;)

True but my vision wasnt so well at midnight :p

I changed the io scheduler and lowered the clock frequency. I have had little to no reboot now.
Edit.
See the default is very and when I selected cfq the phone seems more stable. I did realize when the phone was charging the phone was rebooting a bit.

The first time i flashed BP1.2 i had reboot issues and someone suggested a dirty flash (not wiping davlik or cache) and after that it ran fine.

Then i had other issues with the phone so eventually i did a clean reflash of BP 1.2 and i only had one reboot when i was doing some themeing.

Other than that no random reboots. Granted i have had to manually reboot a few times due to some DNS errors. I keep having to go into Rom Toolbox and reapplying Open DNS to get my connection working, and once today it wouldn't apply at all and i had to reboot to get an IP address.

Currently the only issue i have been having is this DNS error.
I checked auto apply wifi and mobile, and it seemed to work great for a couple days, but it is flakey to say the least.

Curious if it has anything to do with the postboot file i deleted to fix the clock settings. Someone is sending me a modified postboot file that is suppose to fix the cpu settings.....

I doubt that has anything to do with the DNS though, i suspect that it just hangs when switching between WiFi and Mobile and reconnecting to Mobile.

Hey PG. Been on this rom since we last talked, and it's great except for a few things that would make it better out of the box.

a) Dump swype. It eats disgusting amounts of cpu/battery. I replaced it with SlideIT from the market. It's about 95% as good as swipe without the battery hit.

b) The SmartAssV2 governor is pretty horrible as well. I did measurements and it stays at 1.5Ghz pretty much 100% of the time causing the phone to heat up and causing reboots to occur more often than usual. I usually use interactive or conservative. However, this might be because swype was always being used so i'm gonna measure a little more with smartassv2 to see if that's what was kicking it into high gear so much.

c) I see you disable the second core out of the box, probably to reduce heat when pushing a single core to 1.5? Just curious about that one.
For a single core I've found this works best: 300Mhz Min (since 192 is too slow)
For dual core 192Mhz is plenty fast because twice as much work can be done in parallel so you don't notice the same slowdowns with lock screens etc... like oldschool androids.

Interesting tip about SlideIT, never heard of it... but I am using a themed GO Keyboard now anyway. And before that i was using the Gingerbread keyborad. Funny that even the LG non Swype Keyboard seemed to suck battery.

initially i was stuck at 1.5Ghz no matter what until i deleted the init.qcom.post_boot.sh, then someone emailed me the modified init.qcom.post_boot.sh file. Now it seems to work and theoretically i can use your Optimizer again. I have been using OnDemand governor because that one seems to give me the CPU history i want to see which is that it is running at the low end, 192mhz majority of the time, and 1512mhz about 10-15% of the time. Lagfree governor makes the phone run smooth as butter, but like the Smartassv2 my phone seemed to run at full speed majority of the time. Still not sure about the differences in governors though, i.e. Conservative vs Interactive vs OnDemand.

I too am curious about the second core being disabled. I was not aware of that. Could that be why i had reboots with Kanaida's LG Optimizer? I was actually running at 192mhz up until now, and didn't notice much lag...most of the time, but I will run it at 384mhz now based on Kanaida's observation above. I assume 2 cores running 192mhz eat up more voltage than a single core running at 384mhz. I was never very good at understanding clock speeds, etc. Which is why i never OCed my PC, even though i bought the Black Edition Phenom x4 3.2ghz when it hit the market a year or two or three ago. I forget........hardly use my desktop anymore, except now, much easier to type these long posts. :)

Smartass works great for me. 2nd core shouldnt be disabled, at most should only be inactive if not needed. The Interactive govnr is prolly the best one as it ramps everything down when its not needed and only ramps up what is needed when needed.

Swype is only there for the masses, I hate swype and dont use it personally. ;)

Phone is running great now. That i have the CPU speeds where i want them.

I did have some questions about themeing in BP.

I emailed JRummy about Rom Toolbox about Theme Manager > Theme List options, I thought they may have been specific to Theme Chooser (Tmobile engine), but supposedly they should work on any deodexed ROM, like Black Plague, but I haven't had any luck using the notification drawer backgrounds.

Since you included Rom Toolbox in BP i thought maybe you could give me some pointers on this.

Also any news about changing the text color in the menus, specifically the gray on black text.

Thanks for everything.

That never works changes the drawer backgrounds when I had the log connect.. changing status bar color on the connect ruins launcher and status bar upon reboot

I haven't tried changing the notification drawer background yet, but I did change the status bar color without any issues. The only thing that doesn't seem to work for me so far is changing the battery icon. I tried to change it, but nothing happens. (I know you have to use the 1

k0nane did Basix for the Indulge, I just did a failed CM7 attempt for it ;)

I have this same ROM on my Connect n it doesnt reboot like described, an occasional, random reboot maybe, at most.

I have several changes done to mine too which I need to package n release it appears. ;)

Hey real quick question...

Don't get me wrong i'm an extremely patient guy, but i was wondering if this still is an on going project for you? i will admit this is a step up from the only other rom "The Broken Out ROM" (No offense to anyone intended), but there just aren't enough ROMs out there for this thing. i'd like to see use us this thing to its full potential but its like no one cares about us poor folks lol. They're all interested in the Galaxy S3 and the Evo 4G LTE =( ... i know i know "Waaah" lol.

Regardless, i hope your still workin' on makin some new bad @ss new features for the 4G Connect and all that. love all the work you've done before on all my other phones. Keep up the good work.

Props.

Can I flash this over the stock ZV9 rom?

I did. And i Didn't have a single problem, either.. Although i did it before after wiping, like u sometimes do when flashing other ROMs and ran in to less problems this time. Hope this helps. I'm sure you've already flashed it, though.

Well its on my todo list anyhow, I would rather get my esteem project in a usable state before I dive into another one, if you know what I mean. CM* involves ALOT more work than cooking/modding a stock rom. ;)

Some of my other current projects I am just assisting on or the hard work was done by google & CM. lol

No doubt. Take your time... but I wont lie. I wish there were more ROMs for this phone... i had the LG Esteem and i like it but I feel like this phone can do a LOT more than what we are seeing out of it with the current ROMs... No offense at all, i'm just sayin i mean this things a 1.2 Dual Core with 1GB of RAM pretty much double the specs of the Esteem, know what i mean :D

Keep up the good work.

I too would like to see some more work done on the LG Connect. I am pretty sure that as soon as the s3 comes out all the energy will be channel toward the s3 and the LG will be history
