You would know what he is talking about if you game and use the virtual joysticks. The axis snap together when they cross paths, and the touchscreen can be unresponsive randomly for no reason. You can see a lot of this if you use a mulitouch tester and try to put 2 fingers on the same axis and move one finger independently the other point moves as well...

The OV is a tank. It can take anything and not break 95% of the time. Once a custom recovery and ROM have been flashed, a whole new beast comes alive out of that phone. Some can OC to 864MHz and have no problems, just depends on how the phone is going to behave. The only few major differences between the OV and the Triumph is the internal storage and the screen real state. Those are the primary reasons why I switched. The small screen was starting to get 'old' for me.
 
I still have my OV up to date with latest rom, and i still use it sometimes on wifi, OV is like the energizer bunny lol.
 
I appreciate all you've done Whyzor. For the time being I have no choice but to stick with the Triumph. Once I have the opportunity I will switch to a stable device, but I need better specs. I guess the community was great while it lasted, it has slowly died out. All we need is minus, ziggy, agentc, mantera, and a few others to pull away and I'm gone too. I've only held on to this phone all of this time because of dedicated user support. I thank you again.
 
Whyzor actually made this phone worth having. VM couldnt have upgraded this phone better to Gingerbread as we all know stock ROM is the worst. The only thing missing from this here REAL upgrade is hdmi and I believe we still have devs who post here to get that to work as well.

Is the Motorol Triumph a good phone? Its a GREAT phone.....with this ROM. ;)

My wife has an OV with the Harmonia ROM and it trumps the Triumph. The Triumph may have the bigger screen/internal storage, but that's the only advantage it has over the OV. OV has better call quality, faster 3g connection and a GPS that actually works. The OV's screen is too small for my tastes so I put up with the Triumph for now, but as soon as a VM comes out with a new similar sized phone, I'm jumping ship.

No go on the proximity-sensor-in-call problem. The screen still doesn't come back on after pulling away from my face during a call. Whatever changed between kernel 02-02 and 02-08 is where it quit working and never worked on any successive kernels.

I wish I'dve been around this weekend to test for you while you were making your last build :(

Anyhoo, I flashed back to TheOCv1.7.20 and its working again.
Don't get me wrong though! I'm super-grateful for all the work you've put into this phone! Thanks!

I tested using that method and it seems to be able to go back into deep sleep with TheOCv1.7.20 kernel. I'd like to see someone take Whyzor's latest kernel, revert the 2 sensor commit (like mantera did) so we can have the latest but still a working in-call sensor.

If you flash my final build, then theOC kernel on afterwards, you'll have the latest build w/ working in-call sensor (for your phone), but possibly wakelock issues.

I would suggest trying to be patient and methodical about applying & reverting changes. Here's what I've noticed so far:

- Originally I noticed "event" wakelocks, others have confirmed it too. I dug around, found a fix for it. Checked it in, then no reports of wakelocks, battery life better for everyone.

- Recently lots of people have same problem of screen not waking up during phone call. It could be kernel or something in recent ROMs. I didn't notice this issue on my phone.

- Mantera reverts the event wakelock fix in theOC kernel, you say it's fixed, someone else (Bruce777) reported it only worked for 2 hours, then problem is back. I think we need more confirmation one way or another this works. Reverting it also likely will bring back the 'event" wakelocks left around as I and others have confirmed in the past. So far there hasn't been enough time to confirm the wakelock issue is gone in theOC, if it is, then that means my original fix & others reporting the wakelocks originally was some special fluke & due to something else that magically disappeared in recent builds.

- In my final build I still couldn't reproduce the the proximity sensor problem on my phone.

Basically going forward (if g60madman takes over), people should chime in when things work & also don't work with details, otherwise changes will be commited that could break things or cause complications.

As I said I am excited about work on this ROM. I have already registered the domain mtdev.us which I plan to use for downloads of the ROM since I have unlimited bandwidth with my hosting provider, along with setting up Mantis Bug Tracker, so we can properly track bugs. If all goes well maybe we can do the same for CM9 if mantera is up for it? As cool as Android Forums is, it's not really a great site for development as we loose so many quality posts if one doesn't always keep up with whats going on. Anyways...here's hoping I can fill those big shoes I have just stepped into :D
 
I understand that CM7 for MT is final AS-IS with some issue still exist?

Other than Foyo 2.2 to GB 2.3(CM7), what are the advantages of Factory to CM7?

I just ordered me MT and want to see if it's worth it to loose one and gain one.

You loose HDMI and gain tons of settings and features. Anything is better than the stock ROM. There are plenty of ROM's you will find on Android Forums that all do something different with the phone, anyone you choose you can't loose on.
 
I recommend downloading all the ROMs that look viable to you and spend a day or so with each one to see which one you like the best to meet your needs.

You can keep backups of all your builds and revert whenever you want.
 
Last night I flashed the last rom, normal erasing of both caches. I noticed no difference in my phone until now.

I just had the most perfect call yet on my MT. I got it while I was typing a post in theoc thread. I took the call, had no 45sec vibration (very commonly this wouldn't stop vibrating until pulled from my face), and when done the phone turned the screen back on perfectly. To top it off, it went back to my long post with out missing a key stroke.

I love this ROM. In fact my biggest complaint about the MT is that it is not really as good at being a phone as my $15 tracfone was. Most of that is coverage area and battery life.

But before this phone I was carrying a netbook or tablet, now I can do more with this tiny phone.

Thanks Whyzor, I will miss you. Hopefully we'll all be back together again when a killer prepaid phone and plan combination shows up. I think the one thing we all share is the desire for a good phone at a great price.

What you do is have a back-up.

I have a back-up of the stock Rom and cm7. I re-install stock rom each time I need to use HDMI. It only takes about 2 minutes. The cm7 ROM is my go to ROM as it is smooth with great battery life. You may also want to try CM9. Its an alpha build but works like beta in my opinion. I will probably switch to cm9 once it has a working camera.
