I just don't want to see this thread get locked.

Then you had better pray that people stop beating the same dead horse to death. As I stated previously, the Community Manager saw no problem with the thread when we reviewed it originally. Anyone disagreeing with that should contact him via PM with reasons why.

On a related note, the definition of a "mirror link" is a link hosted somewhere other than the original site. Anyone bothering to hover their cursor over the link in the OP would notice that they point to the original AndroidCentral page. It's not even a hotlink, but the actual page URL, ensuring that AC retains its rightful traffic; every click results in a visit. That's because Android Forums respects other community sites. The way we do things however, and expect our members to behave, may differ.

Thank you :)

Since thekraven is not going to work on this ROM any longer, I guess the question becomes... Now what?:confused: Does anyone know if there will continue to be development on this, or another ICS ROM, in the near future?

I don't think he is "taking over" cai but since the roms r so similar on such similar devices that his work on quattrimus will in turn work with cai. Just my take from what I've read on AC

should i PM a mod and have this closed? all the information is obviousilly not relavent

and its teetering on that point anyways

I didn't want this to be closed....but if you do, go ahead. Most of it works though for it to be used as a daily driver, right?

I don't want it to be closed either. This is a great focal point for us to discuss the rom and where it's going.

I feel like I should know the answer to this  but wth is the CAI forum? And actually, I really don't mind the keys being swapped or seeing the Sprint name.

Thanks, Phatninja. I don't know why I forgot about foxfi LOL I will stick A11 back on my phone sometime this weekend and check that out.

The Cold as Ice forum by TheKraven over at AC. He's done developing it now, so it's Archived. Idk if links work anymore or not, but you can try it. ARCHIVED: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 6/3 ZVD basesband Alpha11 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

*slaps forehead* I read some of the finer points on that thread the other day, just didn't make the connection between "CAI" & "Cold As Ice" :p I knew it was a dumb question LOL

Anyway, here's my two cents as to whether or not this thread should be closed...

If it's true that another developer is planning on picking up where thekraven left off, then perhaps when he/she is ready to make a release it can be done in a new thread. The thread for the BacksideIHO ROM is over 100 pages long, and that's just too much for anybody to sort through trying to find answers. It's great that we can all join in and contribute to these discussions, but if the threads become too long then most people aren't going to want to read through them all.

LOL This IS true, but sometimes it's nice to read as much as possible and keep yourself better informed. Kinda hard to do with 100+ pages ;)

Its also hard to find solutions through searching through all the threads as well, which is why everyone using backside generally post problems on that thread, problems that are irrelevant to the rom used are generally posted as new thread. Anyways now we're getting this thread derailed. Let's try not to.

Is this ROM able to be used as a daily driver? If so I would leave it open, otherwise I would ask a mod to close it IMO.

IMHO this is a GREAT rom to play around with, but it's not ready for "daily driver" use. I've tried several different solutions to my hotspot/tethering issues and nothing works. Since I rely on my phone right now for that, I have had to stick with good old BacksideIHO.

I will definitely be around checking on new releases, but for right now there's no Ice Cream Sandwich for me :(:(

The builds are very similar but ever so slightly different. In theory users could do the reverse of what you guys did to run cai. But that won't be needed, I'm going to make an OS build.

can i upload the fles then if he is taking his mediafirelinks down?

No. He owns the copyright to the ROM binary. You are not legally allowed to do anything with it that he doesn't want.

But, you say, how can he own the binary if it has open source stuff, and even GPL stuff? The source licensing (GPL and otherwise) applies to the sources, not the binary. He's got his changes on github so he's cool. And as a matter of fact there are very few GPL bits in Android -- mostly the kernel and a couple of the "external" tools that are almost never changed by typical ROM devs (dnsmasq, bluez, busybox, etc.)
