Root [ROM]Cold as Ice for Optimus V [UPDATED] [A11]

10g took a couple of reboots before everything started working. Seems pretty stable now. Tried the videocam, it saves a file (.mp4 format) with no video in it. Downloaded videocam illusion, works fine. Also noticed that I can run the newer version of Beat the Traffic, had to run an older one on Quattrimus CM9.
 
I'm on 10g with kravens vm fix, which is in the second post of his thread, and everything works great. One file nothing else is needed. For the video you have to download a third party player to view it.
 
I was using 10G and got annoyed how some videos played with quickpic, and some didn't. Had to use MX player, but I hate downloading alot.

I also couldn't deal with MMS not working(I txt, ALOT). Side note, I had a couple reboots from turning wifi on.

Did you try the GO SMS work-around for MMS
 
Hey people,

Delboy1 here. I am brand new to the forum so please bear with my lack of expertise.

I do not have any technical nous but I am open to learning. I live in Japan but do not yet speak Japanese. I own a Dell streak (model no 001DL) and would love to root it and in so doing give it more flexibility.

Although it has been discontinued, it has served me well and I have it for another year, so I might as well try and improve it.

I would like to root it and open it up to being able to use it in other countries with other sim cards without having to take up the expensive Softbank roaming.

It currently has android 2.2.2 version and if possible, I would like to update the android firmware as my provider said I cannot, although I can see that there are better android versions out there.

Any tips and tricks to make it work better, more cost effectively and more efficiently will be appreciated.

Apologies for the long boring post but any help is appreciated.

This forum is for Virgin Mobile USA phones. In particular the LG Optimus V. Did you check to see if there is a specific forum for your phone?
