Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

My marque cant play youtube after flashed to this rom, any advice to make my marque can play youtube?

I just checked mine using the Youtube app and it works fine. Are you using it?? I also just checked it using the Chrome browser and it worked as well. Try re-flashing the ROM. Don't know if it matters or not but I've got flash from the market installed too. :D

It sounds to me like either your installation corrupted or you need to fix permissions. Personally, I would try reinstalling the ROM. When I install a ROM (any ROM), I follow a simple process, and rarely -- if ever -- run into problems:

1) In recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache and battery stats.
2) install ROM
3) repeat step 1
4) reboot and DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE FOR **TEN** MINUTES
5) reboot into recovery, go to advanced and fix permissions and reboot.

When installing kernels and other mods, I follow the above steps to the letter, except I don't wipe data or battery stats (I only wipe those when installing a ROM)

I never use ROM Manager, and I never have. If people can't figure out something as simple as CWM, they shouldn't be customizing their phones :-) (Not that this applies to any of you, I just threw it in there for good measure)

hi everyone new to the forum..i had a question. i finally got the marquee rooted and running ctmod.3.6.5..i go to flash the kernel marquee 3d booster v 3.2.1 and it says that it is complete and to reboot, but, when i reboot it just stays on the lg screen.i left it alone for like 5 min. and it still hasn't booted up. i have wiped cache, dalvik cache, fixed permissions, and even data/factory reset and it still doesn't boot.it just stay on the lg screen like it's in boot loop.has anyone ran in to something like that?i have done alot of flashing kernels and roms on the prevail and this is messing with me head. i know the marquee was a whole different process as far as the root method but the flashing roms and kernels pretty much look the same. am i missing something here?when i reboot after the kernel flashes should i let it sit for more than 5 min?how long should does it take to reboot?i know that alot of the prevail roms that flash say the first flash takes a while to reboot but i haven't had my phone stay in boot loop for more than 5 min. and trust me,i timed it!!LOL any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance.

I haven't flashed that kernal to my marquee but I would do a factory reset then flash ctmod and then try kernal again but make sure you who cache/devil before flashing kernal.

To build on this, make sure you let the phone boot up and cook for about 5 minutes before rebooting to flash the kernel. Has something to do with first-run scripts, I believe.

No doubt. I too always give mine about 5 minutes to boot up. Especially after a fresh install. Getting in a hurry is a sure fire way to mess something up on a phone. :)

I will try it again when I get home.i reflashed ctmod and themed it l iast night.i will flash the kernel wheni get back in town.i didn't know that you should let the rom cook for 5min. before flashing the new kernel.i will update with the results.hopefully it works seeing that the rom has been installed since last night.thanks for the info.

I hope it works for you.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried the Hyper kernel yet? You might be one of the lucky ones who's phone can handle the 1400 setting. If you do decide to try it just remember to turn the clock up a little at a time and run it for 5 or 10 minutes before turning it up again. ;)

I haven't tried that other kernel, do you think it's better and more stable than the 3d marquee unleashed kernel? I just want a smooth operating phone that is stable without lag.thanks in advanced

For some reason or another it is always recommended that you first install the rom...boot...power down...boot recovery...wipe cache...wipe dalvik cache...reboot to recovery...flash kernel of choice...reboot (allow five minutes or so to reboot as the dalvik cache rebuilds itself(

You should be able to run both of them, actually.

I just installed and am trying out the 3-D kernel right now and it seems to be working very well.. As for being more stable, it just depends on your phone and what you settings you use. The Hyper kernel has more I/O and Gov. setting to choose from.

If you decide to try it i would run it at the stock setting for a little while and see how it acts. If it doesn't want to act right you can always go in and try to adjust the settings. Also keep in mind that the Hyper kernel has a bug with the camera shutter. It will hang sometimes. I used my camera yesterday and it only hung on the first of about 6 shots. That's just my phone though. Yours may react differently.

There's only 1 way to find out if it will work better on your phone and that's to try it. Make sure that you do a CWM backup before flashing it, OK.

Post back and let us know what happens. Thanks

well i just got home and tried to flash the 3d unleashed kernel and it's been booting up for like 25 minutes now...i don't know what to do... maybe i got a bad download or something..i'm gonna download the file again and see if that makes a difference. will update soon

well i tried it again just like you posted it and still for some reason it cannot boot up the 3d unleashed v3.2.1 kernel.it has been booting up for 15 min. now. should i jet let it keep booting for like another 15 min. ? i guess i will try the v3 next if it doesn't work

so your phone boots fine after installing CTMod but when you flash that kernel you boot loop? sounds like your phone doesn't like the default frequency the kernel is set to.

try hyper 1.0 or 1.5 and see how they do for you. 1.5 has a bug with the camera but other then that it should do alright.

running my boost lg marquee with CTMOD and hyperkernel 1.5 and im not that pleased.i mean its superfast especially with overclocking at 1300mhz,but,the problem is it drains the battery way to quickly.even at 1000mhz it still drains crazily.i have the voltage control and juice defender and it doesnt make a difference at all.if anyone knows a fix please let me know.thanks.great work though.

After installing the Hyper kernel I turned my min. down to 220 and max down to 1000 when not in use. The pro versions of the OC apps have profiles you can set up to drop to those settings when the screen turns off. I also turn 3g off when not using it at night. :)

You may want to cycle your battery too by running it all the way down til it shuts off then charge the phone up completely. Sometimes it takes a couple of cycles for your phone to adjust to the kernel.

I followed these steps and have gotten pretty good battery life. The fact still remains that this phone is a battery hog no matter what kernel you run.

Ooo I had never heard of cycling the battery like that. Although my battery lasts long enough for what I need it, anything that could possibly increase it even a little is worth a shot :p

Oh yeah. Trust me, it makes a difference. I cycle my batteries once a month or more.

I also just bought 2 more 1800mah batteries and a wall charger. I like to use my phone a lot. I just went ahead and spent the money on extra batteries. It cost me less than $15 and they are really nice to have on a trip, camping or just anytime you're going to be away from a receptacle. It nice to just pop a full battery in and stick the other in the wall charger. Ebay has some good deals just make sure you read the sellers feedback before buying from them. ;)

Keep the Max set at 1000, set the min to 220 and set the governor to scary, see how that does for you.

On the hypers default settings you shouldn't be experiencing any more battery drain the you do with the stock kernel tho, each frequency is undervolted so they use less power.

I have the exact same setup. Three batteries (2 are 1800mAh), full cycle for every charge (I run the battery from full to empty every charge). The trick to this phone is minimizing screen usage. That being said, I use my tablet for most things and just hotspot my phone for it when I'm out and about, and use it for talking, texting, and taking the occasional picture/scanning a barcode/qr, etc.

With my Marquee and all 3 batteries, I can pretty much hotspot 3 devices actively surfing all day :-)

hey jay and wetbiker

where did you guys get your 1800 mah batteries from?ebay?

are you using the acesoft one? bc I can't find them for under like 21$

edit: oh nvm i just saw the ones from china that are around 10-15...i'm kinda skeptical about getting those

The china ones are all fine. You'll just wait longer to get them.(2-3 weeks to US) My wife and i both have marquees and between us I've bought 5 extra batteries and three chargers all from hong kong our whatever. I have had one charger that had the metal contact come loose but i just opened it and glued it back on. Other then that they've been great.

Edit: Remember you can use search terms on ebay like P970, optimus black, ignite, ls855, marquee etc. You may find better deals under some nicknames and some under others

I got two AceSoft batteries from a US shipper w/charger for $12 off eBay. The guy apparently bought batteries for the wrong phone and let them go at a slight discount... To purchase them all seperately, you'll pay about $6 for each item, all should have free shipping :-)

That's a good deal. As for the ones off Ebay that are from China..... Just make sure that you check the sellers feedback. That will tell you a lot.

I had 2 of the Chinese batteries for my Prevail and they worked fine.

This Marquee is like the Prevail, if you use it a lot you're gonna go through several batteries a day. That's just the way it is. As it stands right now I've got 2 lg chargers plus another wall charger. My wife's Juno charger fits this phone. I've also got the 2 1800mah batteries on the way PLUS a charger in both cars. Lol I'm set. I also lucked up on the car chargers because this phone has the same port as the Prevail. That ended up saving me a few bux which is always nice.

Battery usage for me is not an issue any longer which is a very nice feeling because I can literally go through 3 batteries if I don't use my computers.

Lol its just 11 o'clock and I've already burnt through 55% of my battery. I've been on this thing non stop though. I've been up and on this thing since 8:30 so that's really not bad at all. I also just set up a few profiles on my Voltage Control app. Night, performance and everyday. Those will help out a lot. Lol don't go looking for those settings in the VC app either because I created them, they do not come preset. :D
