Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

I just installed the rom. I like it so far. One think that slightly annoys me. Can I change the way applications are displayed? Rather then move side to side, is it possible to scroll through the applications up/down like on the Optimus s
You can change this with your launcher. I use ADW and can change the pagination with the App Drawer Style option. I'm sure other launchers can do it too, I just use ADW because I like it.

Where's the launcher? I looked under prefances for the app-drawer but didn't see it

You will probably have to download a new one from the play store since I'm not sure if the XPERIA launcher has that option. Like I said, I use ADW, some people like GO launcher and there are a few others. Just try a few out and see what you like :)

Thanks. That was really annoying me. I will check it out

P.S.

Care to suggest any other apps for this phone or tweaks to it? I'm still new to android phones

NoLed on the play store is a good one to get. It works great since this phone doesn't have a notification led.

Here's the link:

I tried that one and it is buggy as crap for me lol. Also there was another one on a thread here a while ago, LG Touch LED or something like that. That one worked better but still not that well. Beyond a new launcher and some sort of app that sets your CPU speed (LOVE me some System Tuner Pro) I can't think of much else you would absolutely need. But I'm a noobie myself, so blind leading the blind.

There are numerous possible apps, not suit for discussion here, you can check my list
dracothe1's phone on AppBrain

You can create an appbrain account and it will manage your install history, somewhat more powerful than google play. But with google play you can start the app installation in pc, which is much faster than operating in phone.

Have any of you noticed poor 3g speeds recently? I ran several speed tests at different time and on different areas. Prior to installing the rom and after. It seems my speeds were faster before installing the rom :( I also have a terrible ping time.

Is it normal for the 3g arrows to disappear? On stock they just dim when there is no 3g activity with the rom they disappear completely

thats the way the 3g icon is.

were you using the exact same server for the speedtests, at the same time of the day, at the same location? there are like 100 things that can slow down 3g and 90% of the time its not related to a rom.

I tired being consistent with time and place. I still need to run a few dozen more speed tests to equal the numbers I had before rooting. I was just asking because the results I have so far are quite different from before. I will finish up the testing and see what happens

I have no idea what's going on with my phone. After a reboot everything is smooth and as good as can be.

But if I keep it on for over a day and a half or two-3 there is always some problem that arises where it will freeze up my phone completely and require a battery pull. It's really weird, there doesn't seem to be a specific app or anything that I can tell that freezes it, last time it was me trying to exit navigation today it was while i was randomly surfing on dolphin browser.. I can tell it's about to happen sometimes because my phone starts to become extremely laggy.

What really kills me and is upsetting is the two times when it froze while I was sleeping and I couldn't wake it in the morning. If I had been waiting for a phone call or alarm clock it would've been bad.

Running latest ctmod and kernal but it's happened on earlier versions as well. I've tested voltages such as(max-min) 1000-300,400 and 1200-400. now im up to 1200-500 to see if anything works for me.

It may sounds like obvious, but I've made this error before, so I just want to ask again: "did you do a factory reset before flashing ROM?"
In my first time flashing CTMod, I didn't do factory reset because it wasn't listed in the instructions. But this should be obvious enough to know it better.

I believe with factory reset and newly flashed ROM, there will not be this problem, otherwise it could a problem of hardware.

the phone not waking up means you have the Min frequency lower then your phone can handle, the phone starting to lag real bad, freeze or reboot means the Max is either too high or your cpu is overheating.

try just using the default 300/1000 for a while and see if it works alright, if its ok then raise your max up to 1100 or something and see if its still fine.

I don't have factory reset in the instructions cause installing the rom automatically does it. all factory reset does is wipes the /data and /cache partitions, the CT installation formats /data, /cache and /system, thats why any user data/apps/settings get wiped.

Thanks that's interesting about the overheating. I have been using a case for as long as I can remember and sometimes do feel it get hot...off the case goes!:(

When it recently froze during my browsing on dolphin I don't think I had even been using for more than a few minutes so I honestly don't think it was hot but will keep a closer look at it from now on.

That's the thing though I ran it at 300/1000 for the longest time. Everything runs smooth for the first day or so but it will just randomly take a dive.I've been slowly increasing the min though and we'll see where that takes me.

Yes, today I flashed again because PRL error, then I noticed CTMod install will wipe /data and /cache.
I really don't know why my first time install (to return to old version to root again) have all user data kept -- I flashed to kdz version first, then I saw my data still there! after that i flashed several times and lost track, get a wrong impression

Idk what happened with the first test but it got me realllllly excited haha
