Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

Wow Pursual you certainly don't speak for everyone running this ROM I might have a lockup once a week and FYI my wife is running stock and has the same lockup rate. I am running the hyper bloodawn recommends above. I think the way you address issues and ask questions needs some serious revamping. If you know so much about what is wrong and have programming skills why not help to solve the issue by working with the devs?

I don't have anything set up wrong. Never overclocked Ctmod. Barely any apps. Girlfriend has same phone and issues. If it locks once a day, that's a buggy rom. Mine locks up multiple times. The forum is filled with people with similar issues. I'm not new to android and I'm a programmer so I know what I'm talking about.

Lmao. A programmer huh? Why don't you quit bitching about the ROM and just run STOCK? Better yet, why don't you use some of those programming skills and take a look at the kernel? For some reason I just don't think you have the skills to even begin to comprehend it bruh.

Yeah :sly:

Thanks guys you saved me a lot of typing and swearing at my auto correct

Remember just because you work for nasa doesn't mean you're a rocket scientist

Thank you for this rom. It is working well one of my LG Marquees. However, I have another one where the phone is constantly causing problems.

Seems to crash/lockup/black screen/etc VERY often. To the point that any amount of multitasking is impossible.

This is at stock clocks/gov. Any attempt at overclocking seems to make it worse.

Also using the camera seems to increase the chance of a problem.

I have tried reinstalling the rom several times.

Any other thoughts on what to try to improve this? I am fully prepared to believe it is a bad phone as I bought it refurbed.

This however is a great rom on my other marquee and I plan on putting it on 3 others.

Does the stock rooted rom work? I wouldn't toss it or return it until you checked that out.

I messed around with it for about an hour on the stock rom when I first got it. It seemed to be fine. I didn't however install everything I normally use. I may try that.

Last night I tried two things. I tried using the phone at 300/800. Same behavior. However, I ran the phone at 300/1300 and ran the app stability test overnight(6hrs) and no problem was reported.

Thanks for the suggestion.

if your still having problems try hyper 0.2 on it

Thank you, installed it now and will run it today. Will report back in ~12hours.

Just to make sure, I am using an LG Marquee on Ting. Which uses sprint service. I am using the sprint rom even though my refurb phone is branded boost. As far as I understood the different between the boost and sprint roms is for the service used and not the phone branding.

Well it seems to be stable with .2. However, I have ran into a problem.
When I had updated the kernel the battery life was a problem. The cell time without signal was >50%. This had happened when I first got the phone and was fixed with a PRL update. I tried to do that again and now the phone is getting no service. It seems my option is to do a manual PRL update. My wifi is also not working and simply says error when I try and turn it on. Are these two related in any way? As far as I understand, they are not.
I tried to restore to my backup and also flash other kernels, did not seem to fix the above two issues.

its has the wrong wifi driver for that kernel version, flash this: 0.2-wifidriver.zip to fix wifi.

as for the no service problem, it sounds like the prl update failed for some reason. did you reboot and try doing it again?

ah perfect wifi problem makes sense, will flash that in a moment. As for the PRL I did try rebooting etc, but once I lost service it wont let me try and update again. Simply says needs service to check for PRL update. I am trying to figure out how to do it manual at the moment.

Will update in a few.

Alright. wifi and service is back working.

I will continue with .2 for now. If it does continue to work, any way I can figure out/help figure out what is causing v3 to not work for me?

I also notice on .2 I get no stutter when the screen is turned on and off. This happened with v3(with no clock changes) for me.

Thank you for all the help.

When I had a PRL/service problem, I flashed the rooted stock ROM which restored service and then went back to CTMod. I always keep it on the sdcard, just in case...

ZVC-Rooted-Sprint.zip

PRL updates should be done only when the signal is very strong, otherwise it seems to get corrupted.

Yea that was my next plan if .2 did not work. However, phone seems to be perfect with .2 kernel and with all the apps I normally use. Was trying to avoid having to set up a new rom.

Now I just want some of the benefits of the better kernels :x

I figured out how to stop the governor from changing. Set sys/devices/system/CPU/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor to read only. Now I have this error showing in logcat that powermanager service tries to access the file (trying to change my governor) with permissions denied. I've flashed rooms kernels & hard reset all day with no luck other than this.

Just to provide confirmation. I ran .2 all day and had zero problems. Once I got home I switch to v3 and had them immediately. Switched back to .2 and once again everything was fine.

Guys,
anyone have a backup of CTMod 3.75 wallpaper?
i changed by mistake and can't change it back.

or can you tell me where it's located in the Rom???

Thanx.

FOUND IT :)

In this vein, you were completely right making a phone call totally triggered it for me twice yesterday. When I tried it before I guess the call might not have been long enough but it definitely switched, and nothing weird popped out to me in the log, but I barely know what I'm looking for either :p

Blood, I switched to .2 for stability and it works great. I know you don't have service on the marquee though so I'm willing to switch back to be a guinea pig if there is anything I can get for you, I can definitely reproduce it.

The searching and reading ive done about governor changes were simply questions without an answer.

From what I gather about it all is the governor change is happening on release of a wakelock. The phone app releasing wakelock and maybe more than that one under other circumstances IDK. Beats me? I do know that the governor stays put durring the phone call and changes as the phone app closes on release.

easiest thing for now is make the whole file read only, or "no frills CPU" has an option for not letting any other app or the system make a change to the file.

This may be my first android but windows mobile taught me well about registry changes and digging around in the guts LOL
