Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/01/13)

I know this doesn't specifically deal with CTMod, but I just updated Lightning Browser (which comes installed with CTMod, that's why I'm posting it here instead of a new thread) from the store. Now it's force closing every time I try to run it. Doesn't even pull up a web page or anything. Just gives me the options: "Force Close" or "Report".

Anybody else having this issue? Just wondering if I broke something on my ROM, or if everybody is experiencing this? Probably not a big deal, 'cause I'll just download a different browser.

Speaking of which, any suggestions on a good browser?

its just a bug in the app, my Nexus 4 does it too with the last update. it will probably be fixed soon.

if you want to install a different browser the most popular ones that work with GB are Dolphin, Opera and Boat. I'd just install each of them and see what works best for you.

Anyone else having problems with like the last two facebook app updates?

It's like almost EVERY time I pick my phone back up and start facebook it crashes and I have to re-enter it for it to function regularly:mad:

well lets face it Facebook is horrid at coding and yea, i bet its because the actual Facebook app is looking for the Facebook home app go figure...

Just wanted to touch base on that Roaming PRL thing.

I just did a manual update on my phone, and I'm no longer roaming and I have 3g!

I figured it couldn't hurt (haven't done it previously with this ROM), and it worked! :)

I have tried just about every major browser out there and found Opera suits my taste. On my Phone and on my PC. Dolphin and Boat Browser are not bad, but yeah I had the Lightning experience too when I ran CTMOD. I prefer Google+ to Facebook myself so I cannot comment on the Facebook app.

I use Opera on my phone and computer, and Chrome on my computer. I really like the Opera browser on my phone and ended up removing the one that came with this ROM.

That being said, I completely understand why Blood chose to put it on here in the first place (minimalistic footprint).

I use both the Facebook and Google+ apps, without issues. Although, I don't use the Facebook one all that much.

the swipe to clear isn't fancy like it is in JB. while you swiping you gotta stay inside the notification box or else it resets.

One thing I thought I'd mention about the swipes, which may have been obvious to everybody but me, but I was at first thinking that I had to swipe the entire length of the notification. I discovered quite by accident that you only have to start at the edge and move off.

So basically touch the right edge of the notification and swipe it right off the screen. (or start on the Left side and swipe it to the left quickly off the screen) Again, possibly this is obvious to everybody but I just wanted to let you know in case you didn't realize how easy it can be.

I was just getting frustrated with it until I figured this out. Now I don't have to try 3 or 4 times before it disappears.

I still use Boat browser. I've gotten use to it plus it's fast. :D:thumbup:

I have 2 LG Marquees that I bought refurbished from ting. I have to sell one to get cash. can i flash either the boost or sprint ROM on my phone or does it depend on the hardware itself? Also, will the phone be able to be activated by the buyer with a custom rom on it or will i need to return to stock somehow?

Thanks in adavce,

ting users have to manually set the apn somehow so I don't think it should matter which rom you use.

I'm not sure if a phone can be activated with CT on it. I would think it should work but I haven't tried or known of anyone thats done it.

Thanks for the quick response. Maybe I should return to stock before selling it. Do you know how i can tell whether to put boost or sprint on it?

I was kinda curious about this issue and Google gave me this.
https://help.ting.com/entries/21931...and-flashing-custom-ROM-before-activating-it-

One of the entries in the forum states "I would strongly recommend that you first activate your Ting phone first.
99% of the time, your activation should go without a hitch.

However, if you have trouble activating the phone and call Ting support, they may ask you to type in some commands (Like ##786# to do a device reset).
On most custom ROMS (such as CyanogemMod), the EPST application is not present. So, you will not be able issue the ##786# if Ting asks you to do it."

I have activated a rooted Marquee using CTMOD 3.75 through Sprint but I did not have to issue any special commands. Ting also has an info app in the Google Play store which might tell you what network your using. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ting.dashboard
I hope you get your issue resolved.

Hey Blood I am getting kinda fed up with CMDA and was curious if T Mobile uses CMDA? Also wondering how you like using them Signal, Customer Service, Data, Ect. Thanks

T-Mobile is GSM.

its been awesome for me. I don't know if they have it anymore but I have my N4 on a prepaid plan thats $30/month with 100 mins, unlimited data/text and 5 gigs of 4G, so it works well for me since I don't talk much.

where I live my bars are usually full and data is about 2 to 10 mbps but if I go out to the country it can drop to like 100kbps or lose data completely.

the only time I've used CS was when I activated and transfered my number from boost but the dude seemed nice and was helpful.

if your thinking about switching to them you'll probably want to look at their coverage map on their site to make sure its decent where you live since they aren't as big as other carriers.

I did check their site and the coverage looks as good as Sprint actually a little better. I am having alot of issues with data all of the sudden I get a message about being unable to connect and a couple minutes later it's fine. Really annoying when your doing something important. So yeah I am considering switching (My contract is up in September) Thanks for the input.
