Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

when the boost customer representative wants me to enter certain codes to do a factory reset in order to get the phone activated. do i do something else instead?

its a Samsung Galaxy SPH-M820 Prevail

Mine runs great at max all day every day. Between tapa talk and email and twitter I can run about 5 hrs without letting phone sleep before battery is done. I have an extra battery and chargers for them so works out fine. The only time the battery gets hot is at lunch when I put it on speakerphone and talk to wife for entire lunch break, other than that it's pretty good on heat.

if you flash Half Ass Rom the codes will work. just make a backup of your current setup, flash H.A.R, do the setup, then restore your backup :)

yea thats the same installer in the link i posted before not sure why it doesnt work ive tried 5 diffrent browser.apk files all with the same result. do you have the stock browser on yours? the only apk that didnt work was the browser the other ones i wanted installed fine. it seems to install fine and it shows up in system/app on the phone just wont open.

Hi,

nope, I don't have the stock browser on my phone anymore. This is the stock browser from Bloodawn's "Removed Apps"..... That's all I have.... Check back sometime in the morning, I am sure some of the other guys might have another, different solution you can try.

EDIT : Well, one other thing you could try : If you have Titanium Backup, try installing or making the browser a system app........ also, have you cleared the browsers cache and data before/after install ? Cleared your dalvik cache ??? Just some ideas.... not sure if it helps.

Just kinda curious why you want the stock browser. It's slow man. Very slow compared to some of the others. I use Boat Browser and it is one of the fastest I've found.

download CT 3.5, pull the Browser.apk and DownloadProviderUI.apk out of it and place them in your Apkinstaller.zip, flash it and you'll be good.

The phone cannot be activated while on CT, you'll have to use HalfAssROM or odin back to stock, do the activation then flash or restore back to CT.

thanks,
is there a beginners guide to doing all of this?

It's very easy. Did you install ctmod yourself?

You install half ass rom the same way a you did ctmod

1 place rom on sdcard
2 boot phone into recovery mode
(vol up + power, from a powered off phone)
3 select install zip from sdcard
4. Select choose zip from sdcard
5. Select half ass rom
6. Select yes.
7.(once finished) Press beck
8. Select reboot system now

Then repeat this process with ctmod once activation is complete

(or if you made a backup of ctmod, you can just restore it)

To make a backup,
1.boot into recovery.
2.select backup and restore
3.select backup
(to restore backup, select restore instead in step 3, then select the backup you created)

Note-these instructions are for Clockwork Mod Recovery (it will say this at the top of the screen, in recovery mode)

just tryin to keep flash workin is their another browser thats compatible?

Hmm. If I'm not mistaken, Dolphin has Flash built in and can be set to On.-Demand. I am referring to the full version, not mini. I'm not familiar with Dolphin Mini.

I would check that for you but I'm running a Marquee now so there is no way for me to verify what works and what doesn't.

I have flash 11.1 and mxplayer installed. haven't found any videos that I can't watch and YouTube works in chrome browser as well as app. Idk if that flash or mx player or a combo of both installed that make it work.

any body know?

not sure if this matters either but I leave chrome in "android" mode. also for you YouTube app you might need to put a proxy script in /etc/init.d for out to work

Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure where to post this if it's the wrong place let me know.

Lately my phone has been very unstable. I only have a few apps installed which are

Google Maps
Pandora
Facebook
Gmail

Basically my phone auto restarts frequently. If you have seen my previous post it would shut down completely but that seemed to be solved when I reflashed ctmod as someone suggested.

Well everything had been fine since then but now I can't even use my phone :( which sucks. It can restart at any time I am not sure whats going on. If anyone has a similar problem maybe you can share some light.

Hi,

I would try to uninstall Facebook and Pandora, reboot and see if it works. If not, try installing a security suite, like "Avast Mobile Security" and see if there is maybe some malware on your phone.

All that might not solve your problem ( could be a hardware failure too ), but it's a try.

Good luck.

Also you may have your overclock settings turned up too high

Not all phones can handle all frequencies
