Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

Please excuse my noob question. What is the benefit of doing this? I have a 8GB Card, in my case would you recommend I do [4GB/1GB/1GB/2GB]?

Thanks

If you get sdparter to work The one you have as 4 is fat The first 1 is ok the sec 1 I have at 528mb and no problems and the last 2 I have at 528mb and no problems then the rest would go to fat which should make it 6gb. All works great and always room on all partitions, mine is a 16 so I have more fat but all others are great.

I have the same issue that SDPArter is force closing...... I guess, the only option would be reflashing 3.75, but I have not done it yet............. Maybe it's not just me and Bloodawn may know a solution other than reflashing.....

Wired mine works just fine!

Well, remember, cwhatever, you're on SSM, maybe that makes a difference ! I am on data...... Not sure what the problem is.....

I am trying to do SSM also. But I am unsuccessful, I think mainly because I can't use SDParter. For an 8GB card is SSM recommended or Data?

I think it's a matter of taste and what runs better on your phone with your apps..... I am "DATA-mode" lover, cwhatever is a "SSM-mode" lover ! I guess, it just depends how you like your phone to be setup and what apps you use and how many apps you want !

And, you can use any size card with either mode..... For an 8GB card you could setup FAT ( rest of it ), ext4 ( 1GB ), ext4 (1GB) and swap (2GB)..... ( that would leave you with 4GB on your FAT ).......and by setting up two ext4, you could switch from DATA to SSM if you'd like......If you only use data, you'd need only one ext4 !!!

SSM. Puts the data dalvik in its own partition which might make it run faster, that it does on mine. That partition does not need to be that big, the most I've seen in mine is 200 to 300mb so 526mb is plenty. Now swap doesn't need to be that big either I've never seen a lot in my swap. Everyone thinks a 2gb because kuoma mentioned that he did it 2 gb. He said he did that for the hell of it but it's not needed that big.

Can you please explain how this would work ?

You can always flash back to 1 of your older mod then side load SD parter app partition your card with 4 partitions and then reflash your newest mod and click what you need or want to run from there. As for viewing the partitions just use partitions light app. Just a different way of going about it if you can't get it to work on 3.75.

Yeah, I know......... I got all the partitions made when I upgraded to 3.75 and when SDParter worked ONCE...... Right now, I am just not able to see the "Partition info" in settings, since SDParter force close..... But since everything else works great, I just don't want to re-flash right now since I need my phone constantly...... One of these day I will re-flash...... Thought I was the only one having this problem, but others seems to have it as well..... I just would like to know what causes that force close problem..... ;)

I can't say what causes the problem but for any of the others out there that are trying to get that to work they might resort to using a older ROM. It might be just need to reflash it something like you said but you'll find out someday when you have free time you reflash it if it starts working then you know that was that

Well, I never ever had a force close of SDParter with 3.68 when I installed it as a normal app ( not even made a system app ).... So the only thing what changed here in my case is :

1. ROM Upgrade to 3.75 ( maybe SDParter needs to be adjusted to 3.75 ROM )
2. SDParter runs as a system app in 3.75 ( maybe SDParter does not like to be treated as "system" ;) )
3. I added a second sdext and a swap partition

So any of these three things might causes a problem on my phone. As I said, I'll try some things on the " totally identical twin brother" of my in-service Prevail when I have some time !!!

I haven't jacked with my phone in a good while, but figured I'd check out the latest CTMod. One issue so far, I don't seem to have my 1GB sd-ext4 being used as internal memory, is there a setting that needs to be changed? All other roms I've used did this automatically, and I remember when I tried CTMod previously I had somehow mysteriously lost my ext4 partition.. This time it seems to still be there but unused. If I go into CT partition settings, it shows my 7GB fat and 1GB ext4 so I assume not lost just not being used because after installing a few apps getting low on space errors.

I just got my SDParter to work. In my case it was the SD card. I tried a 2GB card and it worked so I reformatted my 8GB card on the computer and tried it again and it still did not work. So I cleaned the 8GB card's terminals with my shirt and it worked.

Thanks

I have successfully created 4 partitions using SDParter. What is my next step? I already selected SSM in KoumaMod settings. Is that all I have to do?

The partitions I made are;
[5896MB/1025MB/512MB/515MB]

Thanks

Did you make sure they were [fat|ext4|ext4|swap]?
If so, then switch to ssm and then go into your koumamod settings, select the swap part and direct it to /dev/block/mmcblk0p4
