Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

I followed the root for dummies guide and did ff19 with ctmod 3.75. The phone runs a lot faster now and apps don't crash, but the phone itself is crashing a lot.

I'll either push the power button to bring up the unlock scree and find that the phone is off, or I'll push it and have the soft buttons light up along with the backlight, but the screen is blank otherwise. Only a reboot will fix it. The unlock screen is ridiculously slow as well. Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

kernel tweaks.

are a bunch of you guys actually lagging or just a few people?

i am and when i took the file that chin mentioned out it didnt lag but my google services framework is now crashing so i restored. prolly gonna go back to 3.68 simply because i have it setup just how i like it and there were no issues at all. what is the big diff why is it that 3.68 was perfect and 3.75 (which is supposed to be an update update = better if im not mistaken) is so buggy?

apparently the prevail can't handle some changes I made to the file for 3.75 like the other phones can.

I'll do a new fix and straighten some stuff up.

Playing Around With The CTMOD And Since I Have A Few Samsung's And this Is The Last One BD IS Working on.

I ADDED a Couple Init.d Scripts To The CT-MOD Final.

May Still Need a Bit More Tweaking If Needed, Or If Dev Wishes To Use It To Finish The Final.

Recommend Advanced Users Here To TEST @ Your OWN RISK.

NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BLOWING YOUR DEVICE UP BUT SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT!

Tested on 2 Samsung galaxy prevails with same CTMod Final

kernel should automatically control both kernel tweak scripts..

NOTICED IT SPED UP The
LAUNCHER,
APPS Loads,
browser, PIC And PAGE LOADS so Far,

Haven't checked it fully but have been running it for a few hrs no probs..

maybe u guys can check if it improves your ctmod final.

EXTRACT M1 Tweak ZIP Contents TO SD
AND ADD TO THE init.d folder. (Using ROOT EXPLORER)

Reboot.

MORE INFO ON THE M1 TWEAK IF NEEDED TO ADD YOUR OWN CUSTOM SETTINGS

I've been having lots of lag, and random reboots, I'll try this out and report back. No worries if anything goes wrong, (im sure there wont) be back asap

should I add this to the folder you described, AND remove the other you described in your other post?

cool hope it works out..

yea, i remove S03BD until the new fix.

i added the 2 scripts from the zip to the

/etc/init.d folder

and rebooted.

This ROM, by far, is the best I've had yet! Very good job to the development for making such a spectacular ROM for such a decent device. 2 weeks ago, I was about to sink way too much into an S2...now with this loaded, to hell with that waste of money. I now have exactly what I wanted! Many thanks again!

i removed the so3bd file, I forgot to add the others, and it put me in boot loops. so i had to reflash... Do these files only benefit me if im using the apps2sd mod? I think just using internal for data is working best for me. I dont have a very good sd card.

Vincent....i didnt see it.and yes i would give him my own so he could work on it.thanks blooddawn for the reply.its too bad you wont be working on it anymore.thanks for your great work

yea if u add the 2 files u extracted from the zip the the init.d folder it shouldn't boot loop.. maybe on 1st run it might hang on the kauma screen, but i just powered off and back on and it picked it right up..

i have no clue if it will still work.

i really only tested using it on the DATA on SD in the Kauma,
but my 2nd device doesn't have a great SD card either and it worked fine.

if u check this post its has a lil more instructions and what it actually does and how to set it up.

but all thats really needed is really to move those 2 files and remove the one bd is going to fix for limited users who are having trouble...

Fix added
Includes all previous fixes (if theres something you don't want just delete it from the zip)
Updates Play Store, Boat and Google Search to newest versions
Updates Play Services and gets rid of that error message (when you open youtube the first time it there will be a pop-up, ignore it and hit the back button till its gone and you won't see it again. also you won't be able to log into youtube but you can watch everything perfectly fine)
Fixes a problem with /system/etc/init.d/S03BD which was causing lag on some phones

ok, well, thats the post I followed and read up on, I understand the gist of it. some of it, maybe not so much. I get the difference between the 2 different mods, data or ssm, just dont really understand the "swap path"
or the swap settings.

SO, do i really need to make the ext and swap partitions on my sd card 2gb? or can i get away with like 800mb? or 500mb? it litterally took like 15-20 mins for the sdparter apk to partition my sdcard. and it takes like 3-5 mins just to format the 2gb partitions. anyway thanks for the help. i might try again but with the 2 files. sorry i messed up

Edit: Nevermind! downloading now!

So, I just went out and picked up a 16gb class 10 sdcard and I decided now would be a good time to try out "data" mode. Been running "ssm" for quite a long time so I don't know a whole lot about "data" setup. Partition sizes, how many partitions etc...

Can anyone that has a good setup fill me in with what they've found to be good ext and swap partitions sizes and how many of each I need? Really appreciate the help!

I think you can set it up the same way but not sure? For sure I would do the 4 partitions in case you want to switch back to ssm it will be there ready to go. My ext4 is the same size as data peoples and they say it has the same space available. Mine is 13771mb fat / 1126mb ext4 (apps) / 518mb ext4 (dalvik) / 517mb swap (swap) and one time switched to data and worked just fine.

O.K., so I applied Bloodawn's MultiFix2.......It says in the changelog it will replace SuperSU with Superuser...........Well, it didn't replace it, I still have both, SuperSU and Superuser.... I can start both apps.....

I looked in \system\app and there is only " superuser ", can't find SuperSU.... Anyone knows where that file might be located so I can delete it manually ??? Thx

if supersu is still showing up its cause its in /data/app. you can probably just open the play store and uninstall it from there.

Hi Bloodawn,

tried that via Playstore, but it's just sitting there for the past 5 minuters and says "uninstalling...." also, it's nowhere to be found in data\app.... but still starts if I go to the drawer and select it..... strange.....

EDIT : Finally SuperSU is gone !! LOL Took a reboot obviously !! ;)

hmm... did a full wipe, flashed ct3.75 rebooted recovery, flashed multifix2.zip rebooted, set up a few things, clicked on accounts, clicked add account, my phone immedietly vibrated and the whole phone crashed, the launcher and everyting.
