Root [ROM] CTMod 3.80 (04/06/13)

Already had Voice Search installed, it works now, but just kinda sticky/slow. Don't know why it wasnt working before, but it does now. I didnt do anything to fix it, so maybe it was just one of those things.

Recently got a Prevail that a family member dropped in water. They bought a new phone and were going to throw it out. I've fixed it and put this ROM on it. Working nicely considering the phone itself. I'm going to keep it as a spare wifi phone/alarm clock. I did have to download a new browser, the Lightning one sucks. I wasn't even able to download an APK from more than 1 site with it. And the inability to add bookmark shortcuts to the home screen. But Boat Mini works well on it. Thanks for the work, will be checking back for updates and stuff. Just wanted to say hi and thank you.

When I had CTMod 3.75.2 Final installed, I had it on there for months, no issues at all. Phone ran perfect with everything. The 3.80 version seems to be giving me random issues, two to name would be faster battery drain compared to the last and phone main signal/3g/data signal lost completely off and on. I tried all the usual things, but I'm a bit convinced its the rom. Phone was great with 3.75.2 and had it installed once since it's release. I liked the look of it better anyway. lol I think Im reverting back to it, even though Id rather have the newest ... don't see anyone else with issues, so I'm in between with it here.

I noticed the quicker battery drain as well.... with 3.68 and 3.75.2, I left in the morning with 100% charge for an 8 hour work day and came home with like 85%.... ( maybe did some 3 - 5 txt msg's and one or two short phone calls )......... Now, with version 3.80, with the same scenario, I come home with 47% - 57%.....

Still with the same settings and CPU on min 300 and max 900, the NEW Governor = ondemand !! Seems like, the previous "Voltage Control" gave better battery life to the phone....

Edit : I also noticed, that if I play a simple game like Yahtzee or Solitaire or another card game, that I go from 100% charge to 85% within ONE game played..... Before, after one or two games, I still was at 95%....

Like I said before, just use the drop down notifications and toggle off data! You will still get calls and texts. When you grab your phone and awake it just toggle on data and check email, tapatalk, twitter, ect..... (if you grab your phone to check you are most likely to click that app or site anyways) so this is just one more step and makes battery last WAY longer!

Some things just might be running in backround that you might not see and like Blood said changes from day to day depending on what you do or have done.

Like I said, I tried all the usual suspects. Blood, you the man with this shit, I def. hear everything you always have to say, and I went through everything the past 2 years on this board has taught me, but there's something going on different that's causing issues for me. I'm gonna revert back for the hell of it and due some tests and benchmarks and go back again to the newer rom and see if I can at least figure out whats causing the issues I'm having..,.,just saying, all was perfect until....

I put BBS on earlier just to see how it would do. Wifi on all the time and I've mostly let it sit idle except for checking a few texts. Its about the same as my Droid 1, losing .8%/hr. But both phones have seen water and the batteries are anything but new. Still seems quite good. Only issue I've run into was the timezone not keeping its setting, but I read thats normal for airplane mode/no network. Not a big deal. And I encountered sleep of death twice with the min speed set at 98mhz. I bumped it to 120 or whatever the next setting is and its been fine.

Battery drain is about identical from 3.75.2 to 3.80 for me with moderate use throughout the day. I haven't noticed any difference at all.

The other roms made no difference. I was insisting it was the rom because of the way it was acting. My problem seems to be tower-update/repair crap going on. Boost told me that was Not going on where I am, but the phone is doing the exact same thing it does when they are having tower issues, just like in the past, so, ..?

If I go two miles from my house, all works fine with the connection issues I'm having. So I guess I just cant use my phone where I live anymore, or walk 2 miles 20x a day to use my phone,...or they are wrong and are doing tower work like in the past, whatever.

Boost Mobile has been getting rid of their iDen network lately causing us some occasional signal/3G issues, but in good faith, though these phones aren't compatible with 4G that I know of, that's what they're doing mostly on the towers is upgrades.

Blood, as usual I was wrong. It wasnt the rom. My signal is back again, all is back to normal. The wierd thing is, every single time you release a new rom, the tower near me goes down. Every single time. .... lol
Bad coincidence I guess.
:pound:

I'm back again. I'm one of those who needs a step by step because I'm afraid of screwing things up. I have CTMod 3.75 now. downloaded 3.80 on my goomanager. I have my SD Partitioned (16mb) 12686 FAT, EXT4 2048, EXT4 688 and SWAP 591. I was told to partition it like this in case I wanted to switch from data to SSM. I have it on DATA now. OK. so I should do a backup on clockwork right? then how do I flash the 3.80CTmod? Can I just do that from clockwork as well? Then install my backup after CTmod3.80 is installed? Is it that simple? Do I need to do anything regarding my SD partitions? Instructions for dummies would be great. Thanks!!!!

You are all good on everything. You need to make a backup incase you want or need to switch back. Now just go to cwm and flash 3.80 and when up and running you have to redo everything, install apps, setup your home pages, ect..... sorry that is the way it is when a new release is, that is different. Any ?'s just ask.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated!!! So I don't need to do anything regarding my SD partition correct? Thanks again

Awesome rom as usual! Installed 3.8 and also installed CTN3.8 to go with it and holy SH..! Love the splash screen on boot up. Rom works great as have all the versions i've tried. My data does drop a lot due to the repairs or whatever boost is doing but battery usage the same for me and loving the rom as usual. Thanks Blood and all involved:)
